In Visual Studio I could hit Ctrl+M twice and I could just see a list of function names. Is there an equivalent to this in Sql Developer? When I right click in the code folding bar, nothing happens.
First, enable:
Tools > Preferences > Code Editor: Display > Show Code Folding Margin
Then, right click in the margin and choose the Collapse options:
(This is Oracle Sql Developer 3.1.07)
In my case, I had to restart Sql Developer for the right-click context menu to appear.

I tried to search from tools -> preference, but can't find the answer.
Does anyone know how to make a file section display on the left hand side of Oracle SQL?
(As the highlight part in this picture)
Click the View menu. Click Files in that menu. That should be it.
In my VS Code set up I see the output/FSI frame below the main text editor pane like this:
whereas I would love it to appear to the right in the side-by-side view like it does on the images in this link: http://www.wintellect.com/devcenter/jwood/a-quick-look-at-f-in-visual-studio-code
Is there a config option I cannot find somewhere?
I tried Googling but drew a blank and cannot see anything obvious in the config options mentioned on the vs code site page describing the config options
as of version 1.51.1 right click in the right corner on the output panel. then select option 'move panel right'
I don't believe you can detach/move the output windows in Visual Studio Code. You can move the side bar to the left/right side, but that's it. There is no config option, sorry.
You could try posting a feature request on the GitHub page: https://github.com/Microsoft/vscode
EDIT: This was changed in VS Code 0.10.8, it was once on the side but was moved to the bottom. See this GitHub issue: https://github.com/Microsoft/vscode/issues/2806
This feature is not available yet in VS Code. However as of today (March 30, 2017) it's on 6 months roadmap so it should be done in a near feature.
This feature is available from version 1.18.0+
Simply click this icon to dock to the right:
Just follow the steps mentioned:
In Visual Studio Code -
View Tab > Appearance > Toggle Panel Position
That's it.
Your original link to the view your desire is obsolete, so it is a guess as to what you wanted. But here is a demo of setting up a terminal/output look side-by-side. It is a little tricky - you drag your Outline header over the Terminal header which will then allow you the option of putting it to the left or right of the Terminal:
its easy. just right-click on the terminal, select 'move panel right' like in the image below and voila
the image can be found here
Vertical Split:
From VS Code Menu bar:
View >> Appearance >> Move Panel Right
Version 1.47.0 of VS Code (at the moment of posting this, the latest one) allows you to drag output (or any other panel tab, e.g. terminal) to the activity bar. This way you can obtain output to the side of the editor.
Just right click on the panel of output section then select "Move panel left or right" as per your wish.
here your can see the move panel left option.
Press CTRL + SHIFT + P
Select Preferences: Open User Settings (JSON)
Insert (or change if it is there --search for it) the following config line:
"workbench.panel.defaultLocation": "right",
Save file.
That will work for new workspaces. VS-Code saves your preferences for each folder you start it in. So, if you navigate to a folder you previously called VS-Code in (I mean, from the terminal), it will open the output panel in the same location it was the last time you have used VS-Code from the same location.
After making the change above, go to a new place, like /opt and start VS-Code there to make a test.
Does anybody know a shortcut to fold/unfold (collapse/expand) all classes/methods in a php file using netbeans?
To Collapse: Ctrl+Shift+Minus (on the keypad)
To Expand: Ctrl+Shift+Plus (on the keypad)
This works regardless of what language your using, (Tested on PHP, HTML, CSS & Javascript)
But you can find out the keyboard shortcuts easily yourself, and even change them:
Open the Options Dialog (Tools -> Options)
Then Select Keymap
Enter "Collapse" into the input field labelled "Search" and all shortcuts for that action are displayed. You can do the same for "Expand All"
I found the Collapse All function to be a pain because it even collapses the nested blocks inside of your methods. There seems to be no collapse methods shortcut.
If you are like me and just want the methods and comments collapsed by default this can be configured in the preferences.
Under Editor->Folding in your Preferences click on the language dropdown and select PHP.
Check the 'Functions and methods' checkbox.
Check the 'PHPDoc documentation' checkbox.
This will probably yield the result you are looking for.
I also like to uncheck the 'Show summary' checkbox to reduce visual noise.
You can still use the Expand All shortcut key as described in the other post if you wish to see everything.
Some days ago my Eclipse was working fine and a +/- appeared in every block that could be collapsed (functions, classes, etc.)... but now it does appear, and I don't know how to activate that feature again.
It's Eclipse Helios, running on a Gentoo Linux box.
Preferences -> C++ -> Editor -> Folding ?
Make a right click in the editor window and go to preferences there, then only the editor-relevant section of the preferences dialog will appear. This works for JDT, CDT etc...
You can do ( Ctrl + Numpad_Divide ) to enable folding.
Also if you Right Click on the area where the + or - was supposed to be, you can see there is a folding option.
Try this option: Preferences > Java > Editor > Folding > Enable folding
To collapse all code blocks
Ctrl + Shift+ /
To expand all code blocks
Ctrl + Shift+ *
pydev:
To collapse all code blocks :
Ctrl + 0
To collapse all code blocks :
Ctrl + 9
Is there a way to collapse all code blocks in Eclipse?
by #partizanos and #bummi
For Python it is as follows:
collapse all 1 level: Ctrl+9
expand all 1 level: Ctrl+0
collapse current: Ctrl+-
expand current: Ctrl++
Hope that helps.
In Preferences, you'll find General > Keys. It's for setting your keyboard shortcuts.
What I use it for more often, though, is to find stuff in Eclipse. You should see an input box labelled "type filter text." It's as close as Eclipse comes to a search feature for every Eclipse command.
I assume you are using Java, but look under the settings for your particular language.
Under the Window menu, select Preferences.
Under Java->Editor->Folding. Select "Enable Folding".
If you want folding an all your editors, I found you can enable Folding in
Preferences > Editors > Structured Text Editors
Enable Folding
For windows eclipse using java: Windows -> Preferences -> Java -> Editor -> Folding
Unfortunately this will not allow for collapsing code, however if it turns off you can re-enable it to get rid of long comments and imports.
Here you go!
Right Click on + button appeared on numbering strip on left most side --> Folding --> Expand All
Right Click on + button appeared on numbering strip on left most side --> Folding --> Collapse All
This way you can expand and collapse all the methods on the file.
Plus Buttons on numbering strip
Context Menu:
Context Menu
In CFEclipse:
Preferences > CFEclipse > Editor > Code Folding > Initially Collapse column, you can uncheck to see all expanded when opening, or check all boxes to close all when opening a file.
I was using salesforce apex classes with Eclipse Neon 3.3 for Java. I found an option "define folding region" on right click in the editor, I selected the block of code i wanted to collapse and selected this property for that code. Now I am seeing + and - symbol to expand and collapse that block of code
How do I activate line wrapping in text editor in Aptana Studio?
I'm interested about wrapping in view mode (in order to not have to do horizontal scrolling).
Tried right-clicking within the editor and selecting ‘word wrap’ from the context menu?
On Main Menu click "Window" choose "Preferences". In left-side list, click "Aptana Studio". An alphabetical list on right side will show. Select "Editors" then check "Enable word wrap (requires restart)".
It seems to work on the latest version of Aptana as well. Here are some screenshots of where you can find such option.
I'm using Aptana Studio 3 and you can right click anywhere in the code and select Word Wrap which should be the second last option.
I'm using Aptana Studio 3, build: 3.4.2 and found that 'word wrap' can be change with in editor from context menu, BUT only if the mouse are on line number field! If the mouse is on text editor the option 'word wrap' missing. This change only setting for current opened file. It will be good to change default option !
Window > Preferences > Aptana > Editors...
Actually click on the word "Editors", you don't need to click the "+" symbol next to it. Once that loads, go to the "Advanced" tab, and you should see the option you're looking for to enable word wrap.
Found that here.

Once you restart, you should be good to go.
