Error when loading RandomGraphs script - netlogo

When I try and load some NetLogo scripts (not all), among which the included RandomGraphs.nlogo, I get an error:
Nothing named NW:SET-SNAPSHOT has been defined.
Any clue? I am running the latest version of NetLogo (5.1.0) on Ubuntu 14.04 and OpenJDK.

NetLogo is trying to find the nw extension, i.e. the Networks extension. This comes bundled with NetLogo 5.1.0, which you can download from the main NetLogo site. I don't believe that NetLogo 5.0.1 comes with the Networks extension included, although you can install the old version of the extension from the NetLogo extensions page. (I have 5.0.4 installed as well as 5.1.0, and 5.0.4 doesn't include the Networks extension, so I assume that 5.0.1 doesn't have it.)

You'll see at the top of the file that it asks for the nw extension with the command extensions [nw], and then later uses the extension's commands with the syntax nw:<commandname>.)

`Haskell` extension for `VSCode` not working on `Linux`

I installed ghcup and:
Stack 2.9.1
HLS 1.8.0
cabal 3.6.2
GHC 9.2.5
All of them are the recommended versions(I verified it using ghcup tui). Then I installed the Haskell extension in VSCode. Unfortunately, it doesn't work. I get syntax highlighting (from the Haskell Syntax Highlighting extension, which seems to be automatically installed alongside the Haskell extension) but there is no Intellisense, no code completion, no error detection and no interactive mode (-->>> evaluation). I experimented with different folders and haskell files. The filetype is correct, because every time I open a .hs file, the Haskell extension checks for updates. I even installed Codium, because I suspected a fault in VSCode, but it was the same there as well.
The hsl language server doesn't seem to be working in Neovim, either. I uninstalled ghcup (ghcup nuke) and reinstalled again. The result is exactly the same. I prepended the PATH and chose vanilla and non-vanilla Stack integration in either installations.
Am I doing something wrong?
OS: Linux Mint on Ubuntu 20.04.1, kernel 5.15.0-56.
After around 10 tries, I managed to fix the problem. It turned out I had three problems:
I had only 12 GB free on my Linux partition, but it seems more are needed. I realised it, when it turned out some haskell-language-server files were missing. I enlarged my Linux partition (something I should have done months ago). The new installation installed all files
The Haskell Language Server HLS was not added to the PATH. I solved it by putting this snippet in ~/.ghcup/config.yaml:

}
The server was now discovered by the Haskell VS Code extension but crashed 5 times and gave up on trying. Restarting it manually didn't help. I opened the logs: View->Output->Haskell and saw the error:
haskell-language-server-wrapper: /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libc.so.6: version `GLIBC_2.32' not found (required by haskell-language-server-wrapper)
It turns out, my Linux Mint distribution uses GLIBC_2.31, not 2.32. This is a very important library, which most applications on the system use. If you are a newbie, it is strongly advised that you DO NOT update it manually.
Instead, what I did, was install a version of the HLS, which used GLIBC_2.31. This problem occured in September and was "fixed" but apparently not very well. There are two options:
download the HLS deb10 version manually (didn't work for me):
ghcup install hls -u https://downloads.haskell.org/~hls/haskell-language-server-1.8.0.0/h
download using ghcup tui HLS version 1.7.0.0 (or whatever newest, which uses your glibc version) and a GHC, which supports that particular version of the HLS (in my case 9.0.2).
I think it's a good idea to preemptively reinstall the extension, in case it used the PATH to configure the HLS, so that its settings are restored to default. It takes up to 20 seconds to initialize the server, so be patient. You can see what's happening in the Output window and verify there are no more errors.

Unable to import MNIST dataset using MLDatasets package in Julia

I am trying to get the MNIST dataset in Julia using the MLDatasets package via the following commands in a .jl file:
using MLDatasets
dataset_train = MNIST(:train)
dataset_test = MNIST(:test)
This is what's indicated in the MLDatasets documentation. However, I am getting the following error:

For some reason Julia is interpreting MNIST to be a module. It is worth noticing that this exact same code works without problem in a friend's computer, who has the same operating system, and the same Julia version (OS: Windows, x86_64-w64-mingw32; Julia version: 1.8.2).
The MLDatasets package is installed and does import correctly with the using command. What may be the problem?
The most likely reason is that you have an older version of MLDatasets installed on your computer. The current version is 0.7.5, while you probably have a 0.5.x version installed. This can happen if there are package conflicts that prevent the latest version of MLDatasets from being installed.
If you're using the default v1.8 environment to install all packages, conflicts like this are more likely to happen. It's recommended to instead create a separate environment for your project, and install only the packages you need for that particular project in that environment.
Older versions of MLDatasets had MNIST as a sub-module rather than as a type, which is the reason for this particular error message.
You can compare your environment's status (] status) and the one in your friend's setup. ] status --outdated can also help you see which particular package is causing the issue here. But I would suggest just keeping your base Julia environment (v1.8) minimal, uninstalling packages except the ones that you need to be available everywhere (eg. IJulia). See also the "Creating your own projects" section of the Pkg documentation.

yocto SDK integration with VSCode

Is there a way or steps to follow to integrate a yocto SDK (standard or extensible) with VSCode? I want to cross-compile, remote connect, and debug a C/C++ application within VSCode for target hardware using a yocto generated Linux image. Is this possible? I know of the bitbake extension but couldn't find one for the SDK. Thank you!
Conservatively, I would say it depends on the level of integration you want to achieve but I use regularly VS Code to edit and build, sometime to debug C applications using a Yocto toolchain, that's really easy for Makefile projects for example.
Assuming you do not ask for Yocto integration into VS Code (I don't know if something exists) but really to use the tools generated by the SDK from Yocto and that you already are familiar with Yocto toolchain usage.
I personally compile on Linux server remotely from a Windows PC. The server contains therefore my projects and the Yocto toolchain.
I use for that the nice Remote SSH extension from Microsoft on VS Code. From there, I can edit easily the files, compile and a terminal is available (that's out of the scope of your question however).
So if working as me or directly in Linux, you can create a Makefile/CMake project for example. The C/C++ VS Code extension is a must have.
Each time you start working, you source the Yocto SDK toolchain and compile directly using make from the terminal window of VSCode. If you want to automatize the build step, you can use the task feature of VS which allows you to launch build script for example.
Regarding the remote connect, the terminal window of VS can also have multiple sub-windows with various connections like SSH to the target. The build script can also use scp to send the generated binary directly to the target but your question is vague regarding what you want to do.
Finally for the debug aspect, GDB is well supported in VS Code and the official doc is a good start as well as the C++ debugging doc.
On the Yocto side, you need to add gdbserver to the image running on the target, it can be done by adding the following to your conf/local.conf:
EXTRA_IMAGE_FEATURES += "tools-debug"
If you want to have debug information for the shared libs on the target, you also need to add:
EXTRA_IMAGE_FEATURES += "dbg-pkgs"
Finally, the SDK must be generated with the same options as the image running on the target and will contain the cross-gdb tool like -gdb to be used on the host side.
So that's possible but requires some setup especially the debug part. As far as I know, there is not a VS Code extension managing all these steps for you automagically.

Missing CGAL/hierarchy_simplify_point_set.h file in ubuntu install

I am trying to build some source code on ubuntu 16.04 where one of the classes relies hierarchy_simplify_point_set.h header file, which is part of CGAL's point set package. After following instruction on the installation page, I have installed libcgal-dev and libcgal-qt5-dev via apt-get. The package manager has installed libcgal-dev 4.7 which should include the point set library. However, the particular header file seems to be missing (it seems to have some files from the point set library and not others - I am looking in /usr/include/CGAL). Does anyone know what I am doing wrong?
ps: For good measure, I have already tried uninstalling and reinstalling both the packages, but no luck.
This header has been introduced in CGAL 4.8 while it seems you are using CGAL 4.7.
You can get the latest version of CGAL here. Since the latest versions can be used as a header-only library, simply extract the release archive somewhere and set CGAL_DIR to that location when calling cmake to configure your example and it should work directly.

Trouble installing SUMO 0.30.0 in Ubuntu 16.04 from source code

I need to install SUMO 0.30.0 to be used with the VEINS_INET subproject in veins 4.6. I have tried following the instructions here and suggestions from forums but haven't had any luck being able to install sumo. I run ./configure (trying various tool/library options) then run sudo make but all I get is target marouter failed or nothing to be done for 'install-exec-am' 'install-data-am'.
Does anyone know how to install sumo-0.30.0 from source and/or make the veins_inet subproject work with the latest version of sumo-0.32.0?

Your problem is probably related to a dependency/packaging change in 16.04, which is explicitly pointed out in the veins tutorial:
Note that Ubuntu 16.04 no longer includes libproj0; this can be worked around by temporarily adding the packet repository of, e.g., Ubuntu Vivid when installing this package.
Short answer: Unfortunately this means that long-term, you're going to either have to package SUMO yourself, use the versions someone else compiled (see this launchpad for example) or rely on an old version.
Long answer:
In general, I would recommend building SUMO from source by building its' dependencies from source, since I've encountered this problem on various distributions. In particular, the fox, proj and gdal libraries tend to be packaged in different versions, and along with changes in the SUMO source code. I currently use this script (with the package versions downloaded) to compile SUMO -- but this is for 0.30.0, and it breaks if any of the referenced source packages are moved (which happens quite often). My general recommendation would be to either use a completely isolated version of SUMO (i.e., compiling by hand as much as possible) or relying on a pre-packaged version (see above), as long as that version is recent enough to work with VEINS.
