How to allow Facebook logins from other people than myself? - facebook

I'm building a website on which people can login using facebook. This currently works all fine when I login with my facebook account. The weird thing is that when anybody else wants to login I get an error on facebook saying something like (translated from Dutch):
App isn't configured: The developers of this app have this app not set
up correctly for Facebook login.
I don't understand why it works with my own account, but it doesn't with other people's accounts. Does anybody know what the source is of this evil, and how I can solve it? All tips are welcome!

You need to set your App public, just go to "Status & Review" and use the switch right next to the following text:
Do you want to make this app and all its live features available to the general public?
Also make sure to add the platform "Website" in the "Settings" tab.

Have you marked your app as publically available? Go to https://developers.facebook.com/apps and select your app, go to "Status & Review" and push the button to make it available.

Can't get Advanced Access to public_profile on a disabled app?

Last night Facebook disabled our app with the following justificative:
Developer Policy 6.1: Verify that you have integrated Login correctly. Your app shouldn't crash or hang during the testing process.
During Login, your app is crashing or hanging excessively, creating a broken experience for people trying to use your app. To make sure this flow runs smoothly, check that you've integrated Facebook Login correctly. We recommend that you test Login on all integrations. If you have not already done so, please:
• Here's our quickstart guide for implementing Facebook Login for Android: https://developers.facebook.com/docs/facebook-login/android
• We encourage you to test your Login integration following these steps here: https://developers.facebook.com/docs/facebook-login/testing-your-login-flow/

After going through the app options for Facebook Login, I found out that our public_profile permission is in "Standard Access." To allow our users to use Facebook Login, I will need to upgrade to "Advanced Access."
The documentation says that "Business apps created before February 16, 2021, were automatically approved for Advanced Access for the email and public_profile." I should be able to move our public_profile permission to "Advanced Access" because our app was created way before 2021. The problem is that after I click on the "Get Advanced Access" button and type my password, the page reloads, and the public_profile permission is still on the "Standard Access" mode.
So, these are my questions: what I am doing wrong? Is my app unable to upgrade our permissions to "Advanced Access" while being in this "Disabled" state? How can I debug my app to make it work again?
Some additional info about my app:
It passed through the Facebook App Review in 2019, and we already got permission to manage Pages and read connected Instagram accounts;
Everything was working fine until Facebook warned us that our Login integration was not working correctly;
In response to the Facebook notification and before Facebook disabled our app, we enabled the "Login with the JavaScript SDK" and updated the "Allowed Domains for the JavaScript SDK" (such as "https://www.example.com/").
I can't switch back our app to "Dev Mode" because the option is not showing up (is it due to being "Disabled"?)
For anyone landing here from google: I had the same issue, it is a brand new Facebook app, it's not blocked nor disabled. I needed to enable login through Facebook, thus needing advanced access to public_profile. When I tried that, it sometimes asked for my FB password, sometimes not, but it did nothing. There were no errors in the javascript console in the browser, nor any failed requests. I managed to make it work by simply waiting 10-30 seconds after each click (Request advanced access -> wait -> check the box -> wait -> write password -> click submit) to let the JS in the browser finish whatever was going on and then click the next button etc.
I discovered that it is not possible to modify your permission settings while your app is blocked.
I recovered my app using the appeal form, saying that I can't correct it while it is blocked because I need to change the permission settings. In case anyone needs an example, this was the exact text I sent to Facebook on the appeal form:
To get our app into compliance, we still need to upgrade our
permissions from "Standard Mode" to "Advanced Mode", but we can't do
this while our app is disabled. I would like to ask Facebook for an
Extension of the deadline and to re-enable our app, to allow our team
to change the permissions to "Advanced Mode" and properly test and get
our app into compliance. In case it is not possible to make an
extension to the deadline, we ask Facebook to revoke all permissions
given through the App Review process and then re-enable our app, in
Dev Mode. This way, we would be able to make all the required changes,
properly test our app, and submit it again to the App Review.
for me it was not possible to get a reply from facebook with the text of #lgfischer. All the time only chatbots answered. After 2 weeks of writing we decided to remove the facebook login from the app.
the end result is: no more facebook login in our app. 😁 thanks to all facebook chatbots and to the intelligent metaverse. ;-)
I had the same issue, it is a brand new Facebook app, it's not blocked nor disabled. I needed to enable login through Facebook. It asked me to enable advanced access to public profile setting When I tried that, it sometimes asked for my FB password, sometimes not, but it did nothing.
There was no errors, the setting was just not turning on to advanced. this problem was faced by some others too, who have posted their answers under this same topic
I have been able to access the advanced setting now.
All I had done was change from brave browser (Tried with chrome also, but didn't work) to Mozilla Firefox
It just worked like magic. make sure you enter the right password for that account.

"Hardware-based" facebook app

For my company I am developing an automated photo-booth. The goal is to capture a photo and after a quick review publish the photo to the company's Facebook page, all automated.
To this end I registered an app, and the application is conceptually done and works.
However only the developers of the app can see the photos, which seems to be because the app is not "reviewed by facebook" yet.
When I read what is required to get it reviewed, facebook needs to be able to test and verify the app. This is however impossible because the app only works in combination with the hardware on site, and it is not meant for anyone else to use it.
Am I solving this the right way? Can it be approved just for some users, like a "private" app? I'm not sure where to go from here.
If no user authorization is involved and you only use an Extended Page Token for that Page (that is valid forever), you don´t need to go through review. Just set the App to public in the "Status & Review" section of your App settings.
The App will work without review for everyone with a role in the App (Admin, Developer, Tester).

Facebook аpp approval for social plugin

I want to get approval for my app id only for the like and share buttons of facebook but it seems that it got more complicated then before.
When I go to my app then javascript sdk to create the code of javascript for my site it shows
This app is in Development Mode and not available publicly.
Modo público can be enabled in the App Dashboard.
So then I go to the app dashboard and it is asking a lot of information I don't have because it's only to have the like button in my site I don't want to read more likes of users.
So anyone can help me to find the right way to do this.
The only thing you should have to fill in to make the app public is the Contact Email on the main Settings page:
(source: infused.org)
Found this thread whilst having the same problem. In addition to infused's post, you have to go to "status and review" and turn "Do you want to make this app and all its live features available to the general public?" to Yes.
Furthermore, I noticed that removing the app id (as per the code you get if you are not logged in and go to the plugin generator page), then the code does not work at all.
Also, if the app is not set as live, then it will still sometimes work - just to make things harder to debug.

facebook omniauth with devise not working

I used omniauth customized with devise for facebook signup for my rails app.
when go for "Sign in with facebook", it works for me as I am the one who created theacebook app at acebook developers console.

Can anyone help me in fixing my Facebook app??
Go to App Dashboard Choose your app.
Go to Status
You will find 'Do you want to make this app and all its live features available to the general public?' change it to yes
You should be done

The developers of this app have not set up this app properly for Facebook Login?

I'm trying to make a login with Facebook available in my script. I've done everything, but when I attempt to login with a Facebook account I get this error from Facebook:
Error
App Not Setup: The developers of this app have not set up this app properly for Facebook Login.
Here's error screenshot:
Any ideas?
the problem was you have to set
Do you want to make this app and all its live features available to the general public?
set status and review to ON and problem solved
enjoy coding
With respect to the all the other answers, here's the screenshot to help someone.
Go to https://developers.facebook.com/
Click on the Apps menu on the top bar.
Select the respective app from the drop down.
The circle next to your app name is not fully green. When you hover mouse on it, you'll see a popup saying, "Not available to all users because your app is not live."
So next, you've to make it publicly available.
Click on setting at left panel. [see the screenshot below]
In Basic tab add your "Contact Email" (a valid email address - I've added the one which I'm using with developers.facebook.com) and make "Save changes".
Next click "App Review" at left panel. [see the screenshot below]
Look for this, Do you want to make this app and all its live features available to the general public? and Turn ON the switch next to this.
That's it! - App is now publicly available. See the fully green circle next to the app name.
Since the UI of the facebook has changed recently, here's the latest update for setting the sandbox mode ON/OFF :
Go to https://developers.facebook.com/
Click on the Apps menu on the top bar.
Select the respective app from the drop down.
Go to 'Status & Review' from the table in the left side of the page.
Do you want to make this app and all its live features available to the general public? - Select switch to set YES/NO value.
Update:
The YES/NO button will be disabled until and unless you provide your contact email.
Go to "Settings" in the left menu.
Update your Contact Email.
Hit the "Save" button at the bottom of the page.
Update:
'Status & Review' is replaced by 'App Review' now
If the app is still in private mode (Status and Review set to NO), then only Facebook users with role in the app can login.
That unless you set it to public (Status and Review set to YES).
To add more users to be able to login to a private app:
Go to https://developer.facebook.com
Go to Apps -> "Your app" -> Roles
Choose Add Administrator,Developer or Tester.
Many reasons including:
Sandbox mode is ON
Domain name is different
Site URL is different.
This error also occurs when you try to log in in your test version of the Facebook app and you have not added the user you are trying to test the log in with in the Roles -> Testers section.
To fix it, just add the email address of the Facebook account you are trying to log in with in the section above.
Finally, make sure the user you added accepts the request sent before you try to test otherwise the log in process will fail in the second screen just after the user accept the conditions.
Make Sure in left panel App review tab selected (Your app is currently live and available to the public.) tab is ON and App status is GREEN
Happy Programming
And addition to all these beautifull comments dont forget to Start A Submission
There are a bunch of possible things which could trigger this error:
In your case, you just need to add your facebook account into either tester, developer or admin of your facebook app as you want to use that account to test.
But if you see the error upon clicking connect to facebook(before you have chance to enter facebook credentials), then it means your current facebook account detected from cookie is not a valid tester/developer/admin account for your app.
Your could either add your account in or just hit facebook.com and sign out(to remove the undesired cookie).
I had the same problem but now here is how I solved it
Go to https://developers.facebook.com/
• Click on the Apps menu on the top bar.
• Select the respective app from the drop down.
• Click Settings from the table in the left side of the page
• Then under the Contact Email type in your email you would like to use
• Then click save settings button
• Go to 'Status & Review' from the table in the left side of the page.
• Do you want to make this app and all its live features available to the general public? - Select switch to set YES/NO value.
For other users that run into this issue, the app I was testing against was a test version of our production app and didn't have the option to turn status and review to ON as others have mentioned here.
The fix was to create a new app which is not a test app, and configure it like the production version. The non-test version allows the option to turn status and review to ON.
My specific use was testing a user registered with a phone number instead of an email address. I tried adding that user into different roles of our test app (Developer and Tester), but to no avail. My guess is it has something to do with the user not having an email associated with it.
Here's more info on test apps: https://developers.facebook.com/docs/apps/test-apps
Hemang's answer was right, BUT, there's one extra step you'll need, which is to add a Facebook App ID. (I discovered I was missing this part):
Once you've done that in addition to Hemang's answer, you'll be good to go!
Okay - sandbox is off, domain has to be correct because 99% of the users can reach the app, and "all its live features available to the general public" is set to yes.
Now, You need to add a "Privacy Policy URL" in the App Details tab (developers.facebook.com).
This is a new Policy of Facebook.
This resolved my issue if you do not want to make the app available to the public (keeping Status & Review on NO)
I had to sign out of the previous account on the Facebook App and also remove the Facebook account in Settings. Removing just from the Settings will not remove the error because the App itself still has the previous account logged in.
If you have set your Roles as Administrator/Developer/Tester, you can put in that account login info in and it should work then.
do setup by following bellow link and domain name you need to mention as like wht you have mentioned in facebook app domain name.
Go to https://developers.facebook.com/
Click on the Apps menu on the top bar.
This is because you didn't make your Facebook app live. For this go to:
Facebook developer page->Select your app->you will see top of the right your live option is disable and click to enable it->It will refer to you in "basic setting section"->You have to add "privacy policy url" and "Terms and services url" also you may select app category->then save the setting.
Note: You can use any blogspot or website to make your privacy policy also terms and condition page. Both I gave same url which worked.
after a lot of tries, I've read in other topics which someone said "delete all your apps and create it again". I did that but, as you can imagine, a new App will create a new Application ID on Facebook's page.
So, even after all the "set public things" it didn't work because the application ID was wrong in my code due to the creation of a new App on Facebook developer page.
So, as AndrewSmiley said above, you should remeber to update that in your app #strings
Set LoginBehavior if you have installed facebook app in your phone
loginButton.setLoginBehavior(LoginBehavior.WEB_ONLY);
