I have an instance of sonar on a machine not connected to the internet.
Spent lots of time going through sonarqube doc but do not see anything that addresses this.
The documented method is to use the web server's update center but that seems to only look to the internet for supported/available plugins.
Java and Findbugs plugins are at 2.4 with the fresh install of sonar 4.5.1 and the java plugin that can be downloaded is (executable jar file) is 2.5.1, so I'd like to get as current as I can.
Follow these steps.
Check what plugin version is the latest for your instance on the plugin version matrix documentation page
Download all plugin jars you need (beware of dependencies) by following the download link on each plugin page
Put the jar(s) in the SONARQUBE_HOME/extensions/plugins directory
Stop SonarQube
Start SonarQube
This should do the job.

I need to install Spring Tools 4 Plugin into my Eclipse IDE. The Problem is, that I dont have any Internet access on this machine. My other Plugins like SonarLint, MoreUnit I installed via zip archive available on official sites or github.
Install New Software -> add archive.
I cant find any zip archives for Spring Boot Tools 4. Is there a way to get it or another way to install that plugin offline?
I tried to download and install everything on another machine and copy it, but its forbidden to connect bigger usb drives to the machine. For the plugin itsef it will be ok.
Here is the archived update site for STS 4.4.2 for Eclipse 2019-09:
https://dist.springsource.com/release/TOOLS/sts4/update/4.4.2.RELEASE/e4.13/sts4-4.4.2.RELEASE-e4.13.0-updatesite.zip
It contains all the STS4 pieces and a bunch of additional plugins from Eclipse, we haven't really tested a full offline installation using purely this update site. Usually the install procedure contains other update sites while installing a feature in order to find missing dependencies. So in case you don't have internet access and the STS4 install requires a dependency that usually comes from the main Eclipse p2 repo, you might run into this. In that case, please open a bug at https://github.com/spring-projects/sts4/issues and we will fix that.
Hope this helps!
I am trying to use the Sonar-ESQL plugin in IIB V10 for ESQL code scanning. I downloaded the plugin jar file from the website http://www.sonarplugins.com/esql, then added the jar file in the plugin folder for Eclipse and restarted Eclipse. But I dont see any difference in Eclipse. How do I use that plugin? There are no instructions on that site.
Please suggest something. Thank you very much!
The Sonar-ESQL-Plugin is only a plugin for sonarQube.
For a eclipse integration the plugin needs to support SonarLint, which it does not.
To analyse ESQL code you need to install SonarQube, add the ESQL-plugin to it and run the analysis using maven or SonarQube Scanner: https://docs.sonarqube.org/display/SCAN/Analyzing+Source+Code
BTW: The website you used to download the plugin, doesn't provide the latest version. Try to download it for github: https://github.com/EXXETA/sonar-esql-plugin
I'm using Eclipse Luna 4.4.2 and installed the Ivy plugin and Vaadin plugin from the market place as instructed by their book, but I'm unable to create a project since every time I try to I get the message:
Failed to list downloaded Vaadin versions
From what I'm reading around, Vaadin uses Ivy for managing the download of their packages but it seems to be blocked by my company's firewall.
Since the available versions cannot be downloaded, the combobox for selecting the version comes empty, stopping the process to create the project.
Is there a way to download the Vaadin version I need separately? Are there any options for me in my situation?
You can go to the Vaadin download page and select the Download as .zip option on the left of the page as in the image below. Please note that only the visual editor plugin is IDE dependent, while Vaadin as a framework can be used regardless of the IDE (you could write your code in notepad and compile it with the jars in the classpath), so there's no such thing as Vaadin versions for Eclipse.
On a sidenote you can also use maven to manage your dependencies and build process besides ivy. If you plan on using other frameworks or other Vaadin addons it may prove difficult to manage all these dependencies manually, so depending on your company's policies and configuration I'd ask whether they can grant access to the repositories or if at least there is an internal repository where one can add/find the necessary dependencies.
Am working on sonar integrated with eclipse using ant
But when i go "right click project-->configure-->associate with sonar" nothing happens!!
My ant version is 1.7.1
Eclipse is Helios(3.6)
sonar version is 3.4.1
Welcome all your favours..........
Sonar Eclipse has nothing to do with Ant, it's really independendent.
You should follow the different steps listed in the documentation page. Most notably, you need to have a Sonar server up and running somewhere (on your local computer or elsewhere) and you must make sure that you already launched an analysis of your project, which you can browse on Sonar Web application. If not, you'll never be able to associate your project in Eclipse.
Once you have a first analysis of your project on the Sonar server, then you need to configure the URL of your server in the Eclipse settings. Only after this, you'll be able to associate your project with Sonar.
This might have to do with your plugin version. As described in the docs Version 3.0 is only compatible with Eclipse 3.7 and up.
I would suggest you either upgrade your eclipse or you downgrade your plugin.
I just installed SonarQube in Eclipse, but I don't know how to use it :
Here It said:
Link projects to Sonar server
What is the server? Should we create another project somewhere else with the same name as the project in Eclipse?
It's really confusing, I will appreciate if someone could help by a small example.
To be able to use Sonar Eclipse, you first need to install a Sonar server 5.1 or older as described here: http://docs.sonarqube.org/display/SONAR/SonarQube+in+Eclipse
Then, you will have to run a first analysis (out of Eclipse) of your project to have it referenced in the Sonar server. See http://docs.sonarqube.org/display/SONAR/Analyzing+Source+Code
After those 2 steps, then you'll be able to run analyses directly within Eclipse once you have associated your local project with the Sonar server.
UPDATE:
Sonar 5.2+ is no longer supporting sonar eclipse plugin in favor of sonarlint. Unfortunately sonarlint has no customization options.
We will make this feature available in upcoming versions, probably by
requiring to "connect" SonarLint with an existing SonarQube server
instance.
Sonar can be run now localy to analyse the java project
