I'm trying to build my simple Stateflow/Simulink design into C/C++, but I get this error. I used code generation before, but I don't know for this design it shows errors. Does anybody know what is wrong? And here, is my model.
In the Model toolbar select Simulation->Model configuration parameters. You have not setted the Code replacement library (CRL) in the Code Generation->Interface pane. Set it to C89/C90, C99, etc.
PS: If you want to use the code generation you must set a Fixed-step solver (with its Step time) in the Solver pane.

I have a problem. I have an embedded function in my simulink model which has a structure (struct) as parameter. It contains only numerical values and I generate an S-Function of the embedded function by right clicking on the block and C/C++ code --> Generate S-function.
I then have the compiled block, if I try to change some values of my struct nothing changes (the fields of my struct stay the same as when I first compiled my embedded function).
When I compiled the embedded function block I selected the parameter to be tunable. I selected the parameter to be tunable in the Model Explorer. I tried to follow this video tutorial by mathworks: http://fr.mathworks.com/videos/tunable-structure-parameters-68947.html (The video is for r2010a while I am at r2015b) It is a bit different the interface in r2015b (from the one in the video) but when I click on Configure , like the guy does in the video, nothing happens.
Could you help me please?

Once I had also decided to reduce the number of tunable parameters by checking the 'inline parameters' checkbox and then specifying the exception variables (variable that have the permission to be tunable even when 'inline parameters' is turned on. It did not work.
In case you aim does not heavily rely on optimization, it would be better if you simply turn off 'inline parameters'.
After that, the constant blocks (i suppose you are giving the input to your s-function from constant blocks) will become tunable.
Another advice: add mex in the init function of your model callbacks. It will save you from getting weird output (usually due to uncleared/un-reset variables from previous runs).

I would like to add a post-build hook to my code generation process. However, when I try to associate a function with the simulink model's PostCodeGenCommand, I get the following error.

A configuration set reference does not allow writing to parameters in the source configuration set
I don't really understand the error message, and it doesn't bring up any useful hits on my favourite search engine. Can anyone help me decipher it?
Unfortunately, I could not reproduce this problem on a simple simulink model, even if I included a reference model. (I thought that might be what the word "reference" was, um, referencing in the error message. And I've noticed previously that referenced models are handled differently to other models in the simulink code generator.)
I'm using R2015a, but have access to the newer versions if that would help.

It turns out that the model was using a "configuration reference" rather than storing its configuration internally. The Model Explorer provides the following description
Configuration Reference
A model may reference a 'Configuration set' that is defined in the
source location rather than stored in the model....
This is useful for us because we use several models which all share the same configuration set. It's saved in a central place and all updates apply immediately to all models.
The side effect is that bdroot no longer has a PostCodeGenCommand associated with it. Instead, the command I was looking for was
configurationSettings.set_param('PostCodeGenCommand', 'packNGo(buildInfo);')
where configurationSettings is a variable in your workspace, and the variable's name should match the "Referenced configuration set name" in the Model Explorer.
I recently obtained a license to use Embedded Coder with an existing Simulink model that we have developed. In attempting to generate C code for the first time from the model, I am working through several errors. At first, we had no code generation templates (.cgt) files defined in the model parameters. After some hunting, I found the default template that comes with MATLAB (matlabroot/toolbox/rtw/targets/ecoder/ert_code_template.cgt).
The latest is that I get errors on nearly every token in this default code generation template.
Since I'm just trying to get something to build, at first I commented out the offending lines (things like RTWFileVersion, etc), but now I am noticing that it's giving me errors for things that are mandatory (ie. Types). Types is one of several required items that must be in the .cgt file, so what's wrong that causes MATLAB to not recognize these tokens? I'm guessing something may be messed up with my installation, such as a path.

Thanks to Matthias W for getting me to check other configuration options. Turns out I had selected a .tlc file that was probably incompatible with Embedded Coder.
In Code Generation for "System target file" I have selected the ert.tlc file and now I am able to build the parts of my model I'm interested in.
Is there a way to add comment to Simulink in a way which will be later added to the generated code?
Rational, sometimes i look at the generated code and I would like to see my comments for better understanding.
Within the Model-Wide Utilities library there is a DocBlock. If you select the Text option, then the comments can be included in code generated by Simulink Coder.
I have a simple model from simulink and I would like to generate code using the code generator in the simulink and then compile it using gcc into a .ELF object file. How can I proceed?

You need the product called Simulink Coder (around matlab 2011b) or Real-time Workshop (for older matlab versions). Typing ver at the matlab command window will show what products and licences you have installed.
If Simulink Coder or RTW are installed, you use the menu Simulation->Configuration Parameters to set up the model for code generation.
If you have Embedded Coder you can set System Target File to ert.tlc, and this will produce a very concise main() routine to call your model code. Otherwise, use grt.tlc which produces a lot more bloat then ert, but is the only useful one available for on Windows.
There are a lot of options to go through and check - it really needs someone with a bit of experience to be present!
As you are requesting an ELF file, is this for an embedded system? If so, there is a lot more work to be done. If the target is not one of the already supported targets, then you need a target package, which will take either a lot of time and experience, or money to buy one.
