Creating app to test email design on different devices - email

Recently I was faced with the task of creating an app which will test the look of a new email design on different devices and mail clients.
I'm looking for suggestions on how to implement such a solution?
What Im looking for is something similar to this : http://mailchimp.com/features/inbox-inspector/
How can I implement something similar?
Maybe something based on system virtualization (possibly combination of vmware machines)?
Or application just knows the differences in rendering and visualize them (it's not actually testing, is it ?)
I have to say that i'm a bit in the blind spot, and have no other ideas then those mentioned above.

How to implement a chat system in my web application with Vue and Java EE?

I have a Web Application based on Vue.js, REST(JSON) and Java EE with Payara Server.
Now i want to add a chat. There should be different fixed chat rooms (global, groups) and there should also be the possibility for private user-to-user chats.
I've been looking for a while now and have come across various Vue Chat projects that use 3rd party services e.g. socket.io, PubNub, CometChat. I don't want to outsource any functions in this way. In addition, it probably does not make sense to use finished components, since I have so far not found anything that can meet the above specifications and I would have to modify the component accordingly.
So I think I can't avoid building something new for myself, which is not a problem. However, I don't want to reinvent the wheel and I'm unfortunately not familiar with the best practices of building chat applications.
Roughly off the hook, I would create a database table that is used to store the messages. The messages are delivered and picked up via my REST interface, in whatever way.
Is this direction correct? Can i make it like this? It kind of feels ... dull. I have seen a lot of finished chat servers, do i really need something like this, or can I implement this with my Payara server without major complications?
Unfortunately I could not find any suitable examples. I would be very grateful for a short advice or suggestions.
the best advice I can give you is to use a communication protocol which grants real time data. I mean, something like websockets or socket.io, which is a pretty good option.

Creating overlays for different apps in OSX

I want to create an app for OSX which would work as an addon (displaying some overlaying information) to other app. Something like Poker Tracker for example - it shows extra information for poker games while playing on tables.
Just wondering is it possible using Swift? Can you point me to some direction what to look for? some libraries helping with such case? Never developed anything for OSX but keen to learn.

Yes, you can use Swift to create macOS applications. It's not magic, though -- your Swift code can only do things that are actually possible.

Look for an API that lets other apps interact with the host application. That API will define what your "add on" application can reasonably do.
Without some sort of API or scripting interface, it's going to be very difficult to write a program that interacts with the host application. The best option is probably the Accessibility API in macOS. Accessibility is meant as an assistive technology, but it's often repurposed for tasks like automated testing. You might be able to use it to gain some level of control over the host app.
As far as I know it doesn't expose any API, so it would need to be image scraped.
This is really a tall order, and doubly so if you're asking basic questions about language capabilities. I think you'd have much better luck creating an efficient user interface so that the user could enter the relevant information directly, e.g. what cards the other users are showing, bet sizes, etc.

Developing an Operating System using TDD/BDD

I just wonder. Is there anybody in the world, using TDD or BDD to write an OS? And is this even posible? I've tried to google it, but didn't find any kind of information.

It is possible to use TDD for most of OS development and for most of the code. It may get tricky at certain times/places due to limited testability of low-level, especially CPU/hardware-specific, code. These parts either may receive less direct test coverage (if that's OK) or can be tested in virtual machines or CPU/PC simulators.
It is definitely possible. I don't know anyone who is doing it.

What Should I Read To Become Familiar with Developing using SocialEngine?

I am capable with PHP, HTML, CSS, JavaScript and SQL, and not bad with Drupal. Very recently, I acquired a customer that wants me to do some SocialEngine 4.xxx customization. My customer is aware that I have no experience with SocialEngine, but am capable with the underlying technologies (I gave him a lower hourly rate because of this too.)
I'm not seeing very much online that is geared towards someone like me. Where can I read about modifying SocialEngine that assumes very little knowledge about SocialEngine, but a competency at programming?
For example, I spent a few hours today trying to figure out how to conditionally display a block based on a Membership Level. It appears there is no way to do this using the GUI. No problem, I found some code that seemed like I could get it to work that would grab the user's membership level. However, where do I put this? Honestly, I'd like to have this at the block-level. SocialEngine doesn't seem to allow me to place arbitrary PHP code into a block, and even if it did, would that be the "SocialEngine" way of doing this? Should all custom logic like this be a module in SocialEngine, that attaches to events using hooks?

Unfortunately, there are no books or official documentation on SocialEngine PHP API. Your only choice is to check out various (incomplete) guides over the Internet or study their source code and figure things out by yourself.

iPhone Application logic

I need to develop a client application for a site that host and show images.
The client should shows all new images and take a picture and send to website.
I'm a newbie to iOS programming so this question:
In an application alike this, there's the need to create a Model? I ask this question because I think I can do anything with Controllers but maybe I'm wrong.
While there is never a "need" to create a model, it's good form to do so, and it'll likely save you many headaches down the road. Ultimately, you're going to need to deal with images and websites and how they interact with each other and whatnot, so you might as well do it in models from the outset.
I'm as guilty as anyone for wanting to see immediate results and hack together something quickly, but I always regret it later on, and have to spend more time than I'd expected refactoring it into something usable.
The MVC pattern as used in Mac OS and iOS applications isn't something best explained in an answer box but here's a link to some simple documentation about the roles of Models, Views and Controllers
