global mongodb cursor in Meteor App - mongodb

I'm trying to build an app with Meteor and I'm new to the framework.
What I want to do is have the Mongocursor that get returned in the tablets functions with the search parameter to be used in colors functions. Currently in colors I'm just getting the reactive variable again and running the Tablets.find(). But I'm going to have many other functions like this so I want to use the same Mongo cursor. Is it possible to create a global Mongo cursor from the tablets functions that will also be reactive.
The code below is my setup:
Template.tabletsList.helpers({
tablets: function() {
// read the user's last search (if any)
var query = Template.instance().query.get();
// sort options
var options = {sort: {manufacturer: 1}};
if ($.isEmptyObject(query)) {
// if the user didn't input a search just find all tablets
var tabletCursor = Tablets.find({}, options);
return tabletCursor;
}
else {
// find all tablets matching the search expression
return Tablets.find(query, options);
}
},
colors: function() {
var query = Template.instance().query.get();
if ($.isEmptyObject(query))
var allTablets = Tablets.find().fetch();
else
var allTablets = Tablets.find(query).fetch();
var color = '';
var colors = [];
allTablets.forEach(function (tablet) {
for (var i=0; i<tablet.specs.color.length; i++) {
color = tablet.specs.color[i];
if ($.inArray(color, colors) === -1) {
colors.push(color);
}
}
});
return colors.sort();
}

You can create a global helper:
Template.registerHelper('tablets',function(query){
var options = {sort: {manufacturer: 1}};
if ($.isEmptyObject(query)) query = {};
return = Tablets.find(query, options);
});
Then from anywhere in your code you can access this with:
var tabletCursor = UI._globalHelpers.tablets(query);
If you don't have access to query everwhere you can add it to Session or create a new reactive variable to hold it.

SAPUI5 oData POST 500 error

I'm trying to do a oData create on checkbox pressed and getting the following errors. Not sure if this is front end or a back end ABAP issue as have got this same function working in another project.
It is failing on the create part but strangely is still passing through the details for SiteId, ArticleNumber, VarianceDate & Confirmed.
// Set CheckBox status, X for true, blank for false
onVarianceChecked: function (oEvent) {
var oEntry = {};
var bindingContext = oEvent.getSource().getBindingContext(this.MODEL_VIEW);
var path = bindingContext.getPath();
var object = bindingContext.getModel("SI").getProperty(path);
// Pass in the Header fields
oEntry.SiteId = this.SiteId;
oEntry.ArticleNumber = object.ArticleNumber;
oEntry.VarianceDate = moment(new Date(object.VarianceDate)).format('YYYY-MM-DDTHH:mm:ss');
// Set X or blank
if (oEvent.getParameter("selected") === true) {
oEntry.Confirmed = "X";
} else {
oEntry.Confirmed = "";
}
// Do the create
var oModel = this.getView().getModel("SI");
oModel.create("/VarianceHeaderSet", oEntry, {
success: function () {
console.log("Variance confirmed");
MessageToast.show("Variance confirmed", {
duration: 1000
});
},
error: function (oError) {
console.log("Error, variance could not be confirmed");
MessageToast.show("Error, variance could not be confirmed", {
duration: 1000
});
}
});
}
'000000000' is the initial value for Edm.DateTime, hence it will fail when you have modelled a DateTime property to not be nullable.
Go to SEGW and change the property to "nullable" or make sure that you always provide a correct Date in the POST.

Is there a way to resolve multiple promises with Protractor?

I have this:
element(by.id('x')).sendKeys('xxx').then(function(text) {
element(by.id('y')).sendKeys('yyy').then(function(text) {
element(by.id('z')).sendKeys('zzz').then(function(text) {
expect(element(by.id('myButton')).isEnabled()).toBe(true);
})
});
});
The button 'myButton' is enabled when the elements 'x', 'y' and 'z' all have values. It's my understanding that sendKeys returns a promise.
So is this the only way that I can check if 'myButton' which depends on data in all the three fields is enabled?
You don't need to chain any promises because protractor will wait until all the statements are done: https://github.com/angular/protractor/blob/master/docs/control-flow.md
element(by.id('x')).sendKeys('xxx');
element(by.id('y')).sendKeys('yyy');
element(by.id('z')).sendKeys('zzz');
expect(element(by.id('myButton'));
If you want to resolve multiple promises use:
var webdriver = require('selenium-webdriver');
webdriver.promise.fullyResolved(promises);
For example: https://github.com/angular/protractor/blob/d15d35a82a5a2/lib/protractor.js#L327
this is a bit after the fact, but:
var x = element(by.id('x')).sendKeys('xxx');
var y = element(by.id('y')).sendKeys('yyy');
var z = element(by.id('z')).sendKeys('zzz');
myFun(x,y,z).then(function(){
expect(element(by.id('myButton')).isEnabled()).toBe(true);
});
// in a common function library
function myFun(Xel,Yel,Zel) {
return protractor.promise.all([Xel,Yel,Zel]).then(function(results){
var xText = results[0];
var yText = results[1];
var zText = results[2];
});
}
but an even better way:
var x = element(by.id('x')).sendKeys('xxx');
var y = element(by.id('y')).sendKeys('yyy');
var z = element(by.id('z')).sendKeys('zzz');
myFun(x,y,z);
//isEnabled() is contained in the expect() function, so it'll wait for
// myFun() promise to be fulfilled
expect(element(by.id('myButton')).isEnabled()).toBe(true);
// in a common function library
function myFun(Xel,Yel,Zel) {
return protractor.promise.all([Xel,Yel,Zel]).then(function(results){
var xText = results[0];
var yText = results[1];
var zText = results[2];
});
}
another way is to chain the .thens together:
element(by.id('x')).sendKeys('xxx').
then(function(xtext){
element(by.id('y')).sendKeys('yyy');
}).then(function(ytext){
element(by.id('z')).sendKeys('zzz');
}).then(function(ztext){
expect(element(by.id('myButton')).isEnabled()).toBe(true);
});
it seems protractor supports all - protractor.promise.all
read more at:
https://github.com/angular/protractor/issues/2062#issuecomment-94030055
describe('promise.all', function() {
it('should greet the named user', function() {
browser.get('http://juliemr.github.io/protractor-demo');
$('div').click().then(function () {
return protractor.promise.all([
$('h3').getText(),
$('h4').getText()
]);
}).then(function (params) {
console.log('A');
});
});
it('does something else', function() {
console.log('B');
});
If you want to return an object instead of a list, seems you can also do that - used it and it's awesome
element.all(by.css('.fc-event-inner')).map(function(el) {
return {
time: el.findElement(by.className('fc-event-time')).getText(),
title: el.findElement(by.className('fc-event-title')).getText()
}
});
See the properties are actually promises.. protractor will resolve them.

Export MS Word Document pages to Images

I want to export MS word(docx/doc) document pages to Image(jpeg/png).
I am doing same for presentation(pptx/ppt) using office interop export api for each slide, but didn't found corresponding API for word.
Need suggestion for API/alternate approach for achieving this.
Based on this similar question: "Saving a word document as an image" you could do something like this:
const string basePath = #"C:\Users\SomeUser\SomePath\";
var docPath = Path.Combine(basePath, "documentA.docx");
var app = new Application()
{
Visible = true
};
var doc = app.Documents.Open(docPath);
foreach (Window window in doc.Windows)
{
foreach (Pane pane in window.Panes)
{
for (var i = 1; i <= pane.Pages.Count; i++)
{
var page = pane.Pages[i];
var bits = page.EnhMetaFileBits;
var target = Path.Combine(basePath, string.Format("page-no-{0}", i));
using (var ms = new MemoryStream(bits))
{
var image = Image.FromStream(ms);
var pngTarget = Path.ChangeExtension(target, "png");
image.Save(pngTarget, ImageFormat.Png);
}
}
}
}
app.Quit();
Basically, I'm using the Page.EhmMetaFileBits property which, according to the documentation:
Returns a Object that represents a picture representation of how a
page of text appears.
... and based on that, I create an image and save it to the disk.

Template.templatename.rendered can't return any data from mongodb

I would like to know how can I get the data from mongodb in Template.templatename.rendered function. I tried click event on other template and it's all working fine and return the results i wanted. But what I need is to rendered the chart on load. But I could not get any data from the mongodb.
//poll.js
var drawPollChart = function(){
//returns data on other template methods except for
//Template.templatename.rendered
var dist = getDistinctQuestionId();
alert('dist:'+dist);
var data_x =[];
for(var i=0; i< 1; i++)
{
var count = getDataCount(dist[i]);
var uniq = getDistinctResponseBucket(dist[i]);
for(var j=0; j<uniq.length; j++)
{
//alert('data:' + count[uniq[j]] + ", label:" + uniq[j]);
data_x.push({
data : count[uniq[j]],
label: uniq[j]
});
}
}
Template.pollChart.rendered = function() {
//can't draw a thing cause can't get any data from mongodb
drawPollChart();
};
Help please? Thanks in advance.
Just because the template is rendered doesn't mean the DB is connected.
Use Meteor.status().status to detect the state of the connection. For example you could wait to render the pollChart-template at all until Meteor.status().status === 'connected'.

How can i force website to stay in frame?

I'm using Firefox + searchbastard addon to do a multi-search on shopping search engines.The pages are part of a frame. This works just fine for all sites I tried so far except for shopmania.com.
If I use noscript to forbid scripts from the shopmania domain name then everything stays in place but the part of the website elements become nonresponsive. I know there is an option in Firefox to force links that open in a new window to open in a new tab. Is there something similar to prevent websites from popping out of frame? Maybe a Firefox addon that blocks these requests?
Or at least can someone please tell me what is causing only this website to act like this?
EDIT: What tool can i use to pause firefox OR javascript and stepthrough code like in c++ ? I tried a javascript debugger and firebug. They don't help but i'm probably not using them right..
EDIT2: I tried this greasemonkey script : https://userscripts.org/scripts/show/92424. It does not work so i guess it isn't because of 'target' attribute
This is wrong. I'm guessing you're using a plugin to capture and override the output some site gives you. I'm pretty sure this violates their ToS and it's not a very nice thing to do in general.
JavaScript is not designed to allow this kind of meddling. It's patchy at best.
If you want to use the data from a website, to aggregate or display in some manner, use their public API. If they don't have a public API they probably don't want you to use their service in such a manner.
The solution : I took the script from Stop execution of Javascript function (client side) or tweak it and modified it to search for the tag that has in it top.location = location and then appended a new script with the if (top != self) {top.location = location;} line commented . Being a js total newbie i don't know if it's the most elegant choice but it soves the prob. Special thanks to Tim Fountain.
I will leave this open just in case someone else will suggest a better solution, for my and others's education. Again thanks for the help.
