AEM design_dialog and template location - aem

Currently my design_dialog is saving the settings under etc/designs/default/jcr, how do I modify the template in order for it to save under etc/designs/(mydesign)/jcr.
I was looking at the documentation but couldn't find anything specific on how to ensure the design_dialog creates the properties under its own design template.

Open CRXDE.
Go to /yours/site/root/page/jcr:content node. http://server:port/crx/de/index.jsp#/yours/site/root/page/jcr%3Acontent
Add next property
cq:designPath : etc/designs/(mydesign)

As the second paragraph of the documentation says. You need to add the cq:designPath to the first page of your site:

AEM 6.2 How to change template of a page

I have created live copy of a page branch from sample website, inside my website. I was just trying to update the template so that I can create a local copy of the template used with original page and then change the UI. I can see the property with the cq:template and sling:resourceType as component name in development environment(CRXDE Lite). Can anyone suggest if we can update the property to change the template and component or if there any other way to change the template.
You can update cq:template and sling:resourceType on page/jcr:content node with corresponding new values and it would effectively change the template of page.
you might run into errors if code on new page component is expecting a different content than what is currently under your jcr:content.
ps- I dont know what your use case is but this would be very crude approach and should be avoided.

how to check the history of a page AEM6.0

Suppose we have a page and it has header and footer links. For which we can edit the value using the header/footer dialogs of the components. Now, I want to check that who all have updated those links in any specific environment. How can I check that?
From the page properties, it just shows who made the last update (cq:lastModifiedBy property), but I need the specific versions/history of the page.
Do you want to check this in AEM or in your Code?
The sitekick provides a list with versions that have been created. See the official documentation.
If you want to load versions in AEM, please have a look at this (older) Blog post which describes how to use the VersionManger to work with Versions.
Versions are stored in /jcr:system/jcr:versionStorage within a node named by the first letters of the UUID assigned to a page (jcr:uuid)

Is there a way to add a link to the "Tool" section of CQ5

I am trying to find if there is a way to add a link to an external application in the "Tools" section of CQ5. The external link would be going to one of the applications we have running on our enterprise. The link would simply titled "Sample App" and pointing to "//intranet/some/app"
This is how the "Tools" section looks right now:
Use the Resource Resolver tool to convert urls to resources. => /libs/cq/core/content/tools
From the resource, use CRX-DE to determine components that render it => /libs/granite/ui/components/foundation/admin/page
Override/overlay that component by converting /libs/ to /apps/ and change as much or as little as you need. In this case, probably body.jsp
Add an additional node under /libs/cq/core/content/tools/jcr:content/content/items/tools/cq
set the resource type of the node as "cq/gui/components/projects/admin/toolitem"
and set a "link" property pointing to your external tool.
Refer to an existing node under path /libs/cq/core/content/tools/jcr:content/content/items/tools/cq

How to apply own template on Joomla? [duplicate]

Joomla is pretty good CMS but, is there any way to create custom template which will be joomla supportable ?
If I understand your question you want to convert an existing template that isn't even a Joomla template. If that is the case I found it very hard to do, of course depending on where the template was coming from. I ended up taking a template for Joomla 1.5 and starting from that. (Although the ja_Purity is a messy one when it comes to the CSS, looking back I would should have started with another one....)
Yes, you can do it. Copy default template which comes with Joomla and customize it, and you can install it now.

Follow the SiteGround tutorial.
1st result for Google: joomla change template.
If you mean a page-specific template, then this is answered here: http://docs.joomla.org/How_do_you_assign_a_template_to_a_specific_page%3F
It describes the following steps:
In Joomla! there is a default
template, but you can assign other
templates to specific "pages" that are
defined by menu links.
To assign a template to a page, you
must first make sure that there is a
direct menu link to the page.
Go to Extensions>>Template Manager
Select the Template and click the edit icon (or click the template name)
In the left column, change "None" to "Select from List."
Select the links you want to apply the template to.
Save
Note that you cannot assign the
default template to individual pages.
