I have a problem.
I have made 2 fact tables, which are almost identical - they only have 1 attribute and 1 metric in report.
Now, there are 3 Attribute Qualification Prompt in the report 1 required 2 optional.
Table A has all 4 attribute mapped(3 Attribute Qualification Prompt) whereas Table B has 3 (only 2 Attribute Qualification Prompt) mapped.
Requirement is when User selects the 3rd prompt mapped only to Table A it should go to Table A whereas if that 3rd Prompt is not selected then MSTR should go to Table B.

My first question, so please excuse any mistakes.
We have internal ID numbers for product that we are selling, composed of: [SalesOrder_Num]/[Num].
For each Id No. we offer a Test Certificate to the client. Test Certificate defines the suitable age of product, along with its technical specification. Multiple items (20-30) on sales order can have same technical specification, but different ID number. ID Number also becomes Certificate Number.
We need to print/pdf these test certificates using Crystal Reports. There is a custom made Certificate Window on which technical specs are manually typed, along with sales order number. We also fill in number of Certificates (= [Num]).
What we now want is: Print [Num] of records/PDF with Certificate Number incrementally increasing on each PDF - [SalesOrder_Num]/1, [SalesOrder_Num]/2, ... ... ,[SalesOrder_Num]/[Num-1], [SalesOrder_Num]/[Num].
How is it possible?

Create a REPEATER table with a single column (How_Many) that looks like this:
How_Many
1
2
3
4
5
6
etc..
Now, in your report, add the Repeater Table and add a join condition of:
Order.quantity >= Repeater.How_Many
If the ">=" join option is not available, remove the join to the REPEATER table and create this condition in the Record Selection condition:
{Order.quantity} >= {Repeater.How_Many}
This would cause each order to be duplicated as many times as the value of {Order.quantity}.
If you are restricted to using an equal join, you can also modify the repeater table to include N records for each quantity N:
1
2
2
3
3
3
...
This would cause each order to be duplicated as many times as the value of {Order.quantity}.
If you need to print "N of M" modify the repeater table to look like this:
N M
1 1
2 1
2 2
3 1
3 2
3 3
and use an equal join to the N column.
An alternative solution is to use a 3rd-party Crystal tool. At least one of the 3rd-party Crystal Reports viewers listed here provides the functionality you are seeking (without needing to add a Repeater table to your database).
I have a table in tableau with say 4 columns (Say Employee ID, Name, Address, Email).
I want to provide the users an option to select single/multiple columns from a drop down list (assume in the drop down list we have columns headers, Customfield1, Customfield2.....,Customfield10) which would be added to the table as a separate columns.
Say for Instance if the user selects CustomField1, CustomField2, CustomField3 from the drop-down list then the table should have in total of 7 columns (4 Emp fields + 3 Custom Fields)
Though I stated a simple requirement, my idea was to extrapolate that to something complex.
I think some version of this could be done, albeit in a hacky way. What you're looking for is 'Dynamic Parameters.' They don't technically officially exist in the product, but can be created with the combination of parameter and calculated field.
Here is a link to a method on such creation.
The idea here would be to re-order columns in a custom manner. Each calculated field would have to have its own logic for which dimension it was to display when a user selected a parameter. (ie: With parameter selection A Column 1 goes to [Name] and Column 2 goes to [Address], and with parameter selection B Column 1 goes to [Address] and Column 2 goes to [Name].) The caveat here is that each potential layout would need to have the same number of columns - there is not a way to add columns dynamically. Consider that each column is represented here with a calculated field.
Good luck on it.
How can I want print the same field twice with different value for each?
My Product and Shop tables are linked with product_id as the primary/foreign key.
Product
product_id
product_name
Shop
shop_id
product_id
quantity_product
When I use Expert Selection, I take all products on Shop_id 1 and Shop_id 2 (if Shop_id is in {1,2}...). Now I want to print 2 different quantity_product fields from Shop 1 and Shop 2 in the same line as my product_id. Something like:
product_name quantity_product(shop_id: 1) quantity_product(shop_id: 2)
1 10 20
I tried adding a new link in my database scheme with another Shop table, but it didn't work out.
You can set up a CrossTab in the summary section to handle any number of Shops. (So long as there's room on the report for all the shop columns)
If that doesn't work you can manually set up a summary for each Shop:
Keep in mind both of these solutions will need to be placed in a Footer section instead of the Details.
I have a table of jobs, with columns showing which engineer the job is assigned to and the area of the country, which can be simplified like this:
JobNumber Area Engineer
1 A 3
2 D 1
3 E 2
4 B 2
5 A 1
I have a table of engineers, and a table of areas of the country.
I have a final table which shows the areas of the country each engineer is assigned to, like this:
Area Engineer
A 1
A 2
A 3
B 2
B 3
What I need to do in Crystal Reports, is create a formula field (or similar) to show whether or not the engineer was in one of his assigned areas.
I think the reason my efforts thus far have failed is that the join is effectively circular. I have played around with SQL Commands and join options to no avail.
Can anybody offer advice on how I can solve this problem?
Crystal Reports Ver 10.5
I have a crystal report which shows up to 9 fields, but user can choose between 1 to 9 fields. I have implemented this using check boxes on a form and user can select any box from 1 to 9 and generate a report. So the report can show from 1 field to 9, and any columns can be any field at a given time. (for eg. the user might select ID, Name, Phone from the form and view report. So the first column in the report becomes ID and so on. If he selected Name and Phone, the first column becomes Name and so on. I have done this using Parameter fields.
Now I would like to bring a vertical separation between columns and Only if the columns has data (Remember there can be 1 to 9 columns having data). I can't put the lines beforehand because they will be shown regardless of the number of fields shown.
Anybody has an idea of how to bring this vertical line between ?
Thanks in advance.
