VSCode Not able to edit the code during runtime - visual-studio-code

I am not able to edit my NodeJS code during the program run-time. HTML and client side JavaScript files are my main goals. Please let me know if there is edit and continue feature available in Visual Studio code

Can you run a version of vscode inside the browser without a server?

Is there any way to run a version of VS Code inside a browser without a server? (inside a React or Angular app). Something like an enhanced version of the monaco editor.
Of course that means it will have some missing functionalities.
If not, are there any other options?

As far as I could find, it is possible to run VSCode in the browser (since we have vscode.dev), but there doesn't seem to be anyway to deploy it yourself yet?
This Github issue is probably what you want, but there isn't any information there (or on the repo) yet.
It does strongly suggest that https://github.com/microsoft/vscode is the version used for vscode.dev, so there might be things to be found there, until official instructions/embedding is possible.

Not sure if it helps, but you can try looking up gitpod.io. It opens up a visual studio code instance on your browser with options of installing extensions as well.

You can possibly use Gitpod self-host, https://github.com/gitpod-io/gitpod or https://github.com/gitpod-io/openvscode-server they both have documentation on how to create your own version of VSCode for the web, however, as I've never tried to create one myself, I don't know if it accomplishes your specific use case.

Is it possible to navigate to assemblies definitions inside Visual Studio Code

I'm using VS Code several days as MonoDevelop replacement in Unity3D on Mac OS. I installed mono via homebrew as suggested to let VS Code to parse system assemblies. Everything works almost great, but I can't navigate definitions that are not part of my code. For example I can't go to definition of System.String or UnityEngine.Vector3 to see methods signatures. MonoDevelop has Assembly browser but I miss it in VS Code. Does anybody know if VS Code has such feature? Maybe I need to setup something for that?

It seems VS Code now can do that with the new extension ms-vscode for C# support. Previously it was recommended to use Legacy C# Support for Unity3D. I don't know exactly if this recommendation is still valid, but I tried to uninstall legacy and to install normal one. After some background work OmniSharp parsed my files and now it can open classes from assemblies! Look at this picture, it has open AnimationCurve class as [metadata]!
I'm trying it with Unity3D 5.5.0b2 beta now, so I'm not sure if this will work with production release of Unity3D. By the way I also removed VSCode plugin from dotBunny out of project as Unity3D 5.5 supports Visual Studio Code self.

How can I configure Visual Studio Code to recognize files with extensions other than .js as Javascript

We have a QA tool (SmartBear's TestComplete) that uses javascript as a scripting language, but names the file with a ".sj" extension instead of ".js". I would like to use Visual Studio Code to edit those files, with all the nice intellisense and other tooling that comes with it, but I can't figure out how to configure it to recognize .sj files as javascript files. Any ideas?

How to understand the code flow in nuxeo

Recently I have downloaded the Nuxeo code, SDK and Nuxio IDE for the development purpose. I am also able to do build the project run the SDK and importing project into eclipse. But as Nuxeo guys know, it's a huge project and document doesn't contains details about the Code Flow. So, I am sucked. To develop and fix bugs I need to know the existing code structure, functionality of each projects(modules/bundles) , how to identify the code flow if user click on a button. So, please help me
It depends on the UI you want to debug. If it's the JSF UI, then the buttons are usually associated with an "action" contributed from an XML file. You can then follow the thread.
Your question is too much generic to give you more details. Do look for development guidelines and/or how-to fix some bugs? In the latter case, it depends on each kind of bug, the Nuxeo version, the original code writer (Nuxeo legacy code or customized code), the use of Nuxeo Studio or not...

Is it possible to set a debug point in FreeMarker template file?

I have a lot of coding in FreeMarker template files for view layer in my app.
I was wondering if I can set a debug point with Eclipse. Is there any good plugin that I can use to debug FreeMarker template files?
As far as I know, you cannot. A template file is a plain text file that the template engine reads into memory and then uses to produce a document that it writes to the response. It's not actually executable code. You can put a breakpoint in the template engine code and follow along what it replaces and how.
FreeMarker has a debugging API, although it has stuck in experimental state eons ago, mostly because nobody has taken the effort to write a front-end for it (like an Eclipse plugin). Except, I know they have planned to support it under some of the next LifeRay IDE versions. As far as I know they managed with break points, but there's no support for stepping in the FreeMarker API for example.
