Is there any way to install direct 2.4 version of GWT plugin in eclipse? - eclipse

In our project we are using GWT-2.4 version of GWT plugin. This plugin was already installed in eclipse which will support for Windows XP-32 bit in long back.
But, recently I got a new system with Windows 8.1 - 64 bit. When I tried to install GWT plugin in JUNO/LUNA, by default it is installing GWT-2.6 version. This will be not supported in my project.
If is there any way to install GWT-2.4 version of GWT plugin in eclipse, please reply on this question.

Are you talking about the SDK version?
If yes, download the SDK from here.
Unpack the SDK.
Goto Preferences -> Google -> Web Toolkit
Select the Add button and choose the recently downloaded version.

Using old version of GWT SDK with Eclipse Luna

we have a project which is compatible with GWT SDK 2.4 and Eclipse Indigo. I am trying to move to Eclipse Luna. Although I have made a progress, I couldn't get all of the features yet. Here is what I've done:
Downloaded Eclipse Luna and JDK 1.7 (both 64 bit)
Using install new software, installed last version of GWT SDK and
designer
Downloaded GWT SDK 2.4
Set this SDK as default (I copied some jars from SDK 2.6 in order to
do this)
After this installation, the project succesfully compiled and debugged. In addition, there are no problems with GWT Designer with my old ui.xml files. However, when I try to add new page I realized that Add New MVP view is gone. Is there a way to bring back this feature? Or can I copy from old Eclipse plugins?

Are you installing plugins using the eclipse marketplace? If you're installing plugins by manually entering repositories make sure they have a plugin that's compatible with your version of eclipse.
As Glenn noted, you need to be very careful with versions here.
It is best to install any ecplise pulgin using an update site. For Eclipse 3.7, you would use http://dl.google.com/eclipse/plugin/3.7 for the GWT update site.
If you were to do a manual install, then make sure to download the correct archive, in your case 3.7, listed here: https://developers.google.com/eclipse/docs/install-from-zip
If the installation is giving you trouble, try restarting Eclipse and run it as administrator. This could be the case if Eclipse is installed in a shared or system directory (e.g. "Program Files").
If you have selected the Android development kit part of the GPE then you need to separately install the Android SDK. But you don't need that if you are only doing GWT development. Just uncheck that.

Adding Java ME platform in NetBeans

I installed NetBeans 7.2.1 with JDK 7 and the plug-in - Java ME SDK 3.2 (it has Wireles Toolkit 2.5.2 inside).
I try to create new project by clicking File/New Project/Java ME/Mobile Application. Then I click next. In next window the message:
Every CLDC project needs to have CLDC compatible SDK/platform/emulator assigned to it.
Pressing Install SDK/Platform/Emulator button opens Platform Installation wizard, which allows you to "add platform".
I tried clicking Install SDK/Platform/Emulator button and I tried then indicating the folder, where Java ME 3.2 is installed. It can recognize the emulator, but the project cannot be started.
After the choice, there appear several options. How to make in new version? Most of the thing in Internet are connected to old version.
Have you tried using this Oracle tutorial online? It's fairly current (September 2012). There's also an even newer one just posted here.
If you install the Java ME SDK that way, you should have the proper Java Platforms there already. It's hard to read your screen capture, but it doesn't look like the proper Java Platforms are there. I would try again, following the steps in the link I provided.
I just tried it, with NetBeans 7.2.1, and the Java ME SDK 3.2. The version of NetBeans I used was from this download page and was the Java EE version.
One easy thing to miss in the steps below is that on this download page, you need to download both the Java ME SDK and the Java ME SDK Plugin for Netbeans. Not just the plugin. This applies for the installation instructions in either of the two links I posted above. Install the SDK, and not just the plugin.
In case that link later changes/dies, here are the important steps:
How to integrate Java ME SDK 3.2 with NetBeans
By SungmoonCho on Sep 25, 2012
Many people like to use Java ME SDK with IDEs. We provided instructions on how to integrate the SDK with NetBeans through the download page, and also through the release note, however, let me explain it here once again with some screen shots.
Download Java ME SDK and NetBeans plugin from here.
Install Java ME SDK first. You will have the emulator and the runtime on your machine. Also please unarchive the NetBeans plugin somewhere.
Launch NetBeans.
Go to "Tools" - "Plugins".
Check out the "Installed" tab. Check "Show details". If you see the previous version of Java ME SDK Tools installed already. Check those to uninstall them.
Go to "Settings" tab.
Click "Add", and provide the location of NetBeans plugin. In my case, it is "file:/C:/Users/sungcho/Downloads/nb-me-sdk-plugins-uc/updates.xml". Don't forget to add "updates.xml" at the end.
Click "Okay"
Click "Available Plugins" tab.
If you scroll down, you will see three Java ME SDK Tools. Check "Java ME SDK Tools" plugin. Also check others as you desire.
Follow the instruction and install them.
Restart NetBeans
That is it. Done. Now you will see Oracle Java ME SDK 3.2 in your Java Platform list.
Finally, I configured it. I had plug-in without SDK:). I uninstalled plug-in. I installed Java ME SDK 3.2, then I installed plug-in. I installed SDK not in the default path. I indicated platform using "Add platform" button. I indicated 2 platforms and now the project can be run in the emulator.
Here are platforms:):

Standalone Eclipse Plugin for BlackBerry

Where can I find a standalone eclipse plugin for blackberry? On the blackberry website in other to develop blackberry apps one has to download a full eclipse and the plugin which is about 400MB, that seems to me like a waste of resources since I already have an existing installation. Any pointers would be good.
You can install the BlackBerry java plugin to your existing eclipse via the BlackBerry Java Plug-in Update Site.
Here is the official instruction link .
You should have Eclipse 3.6+ version and Java 2 SDK v6.0 Update 16+ .

Please help
The App Engine documentation is old, that is the problem. There are newer releases of the API:
http://dl.google.com/eclipse/plugin/3.3
http://dl.google.com/eclipse/plugin/3.4
http://dl.google.com/eclipse/plugin/3.5
http://dl.google.com/eclipse/plugin/3.6
http://dl.google.com/eclipse/plugin/3.7
http://dl.google.com/eclipse/plugin/4.2
Try the one that suits your IDE.
I had the same problem and finally found the solution. Hope it works for you too.
Follow these steps and then try to install the plugin again.
Select Help > Install New Software...
Select the Helios update site in the Work with dropdown. If it's not there, you can enter the URL directly: http://download.eclipse.org/releases/helios
Install Helios > Web, XML, and Java EE Development > Eclipse Web Developer Tools.
Go to About / Install New Software... and enter this URL: http://download.eclipse.org/mylyn/releases/latest
After the list populates, select MyLyn SDKs and Frameworks / MyLyn Commons. Once that plug-in installs, restart Eclipse and then the Google App Engine plug-in should install.
When you are on the Available Software screen, after having selected the software you want to install, before you click next, if you check the box "Contact all update sites during install to find required software." then eclipse will automatically resolve and install the needed plugins for you.
I got the same error and looking at the messages indicated that it was due to a conflict between Java EE IDE and Google plugin fo different eclipse runtimes ( 3.6 and 3.5).
So I upgraded the Java EE IDE to the latest version available and that solved the problem.
I found out that ADT-Bundle whose version is eclipse 4.2 has this issue of installing google plugin and when I downloaded eclipse and Android SDK separately and connected them together. It solved the problem. Google plugin installation worked super fine then
Check to see the "type" of Eclipse you are using. I was using the main version of Luna 4.4.2 and having this problem. I then switched to the "Java EE" type of Eclipse, and installed the Google Plugin and AppEngine with no issues. I believe it is because the "Java EE" type comes with WTP.
