As the answer was in the comments:
First you can try this… When you’re logged into your Paypal account go to:
Profile > My selling preferences > Block payments > change the first setting “Block payments in a currency I do not hold” to “No, accept them and convert them”

the thing is that i have started a new online store on shopify and i have integrated the PayPal Express Checkout and i'm still in the 14 days trial .
the problem is when i completed the store settings and everything i wanted to try the checkout as a customer to see if everything is going well but when i click the paypal button (to pay as a costumer) i face this problem that says ( Something went wrong There was a problem with the payment service. Please select a different payment method or try again later . Return to cart ) please any solutions ?
thanks in advance .
Note : i'm not using any other payment gateway
I believe you actually have to have a Plan Selected and a card added to your profile.
https://ecommerce.shopify.com/c/shopify-discussion/t/testing-checkout-purchase-while-on-a-trial-plan-401423
This sounds like an issue with your seller portal since you are still in your trial period. If you do not have a card set up and a plan selected, Shopify will not allow you to follow through with a test payment. Pick a plan, enter your card information, test out the checkout and you can close your trial store down before you get charged for a Shopify plan.
I'm working on a website where the users can create listings like in a regular classifieds website.
My concern is that if a user wants to feature his listing on the website, he has to make a payment via Paypal (IPN). The problem is that when the user completes the payment, the paypal payment confirmation page will give the user 2 links at the bottom of the confirmation page. The first one is "return to your website" and the second one is "view your paypal account".
If the user clicks the first link it will trigger the featured option and make his listing featured. However if he clicks the second link the user will be sent to his paypal account and will not trigger the featured option.
My concern is that users who will click the second link will pay however will not get the service they paid for. This portion of the website was done by my developer and he said that it would only work if the user clicks the "return on your website" link.
Would you guys have any suggestions or help on how to resolve this? If Paypal did not show the second link it would resolve this pb.
That's what IPN is for. If you enable it, PayPal will send you a payment notification. You should enable the feature for the user when you get the money, regardless of what the user navigates to.
Is there anyway to make that the part where you enter your credit card information is open by default, instead of the part where you enter your paypal information?
I really need this, but wasn`t able to find anywhere!
The only way to do that is with Express Checkout. In your SetExpressCheckout request you set SOLUTIONTYPE=Sole and LANDINGPAGE=Billing.
This will force the full credit card form to be displayed so people can enter a credit card without creating a PayPal account...
This can't be done with Payments Standard, unfortunately. "Guest Checkout" is available with Payments Standard, but it's all cookie based, so if any person on the computer being used has ever signed in to a PayPal account it will assume that's what they'll be doing in the future and it won't present the credit card option.
EDIT
This question came up again and I had more information to provide. Check it out.
for people reaching here from google and still cant manage to solve it , there are several key factors to this :
PayPal parameters: if you look at PayPal's API there are 3 relevant fields: LANDINGPAGE, USERSELECTEDFUNDINGSOURCE, SOLUTIONTYPE .
Not sending email parameter. change email parameter to '' (blank) . if you do send email parameter it will always open the login tab.
Cookies. no matter what you do , if the user have a PayPal cookie on his browser , the login tab will open by default (and the above parameters will be ignored) there is no solution for that (as far as I know) so make sure you check if it works with a cookie virgin browser.
For those of you working on the latest implementation of Express Checkouts, all you need to do to have the credit card tab open by default is add an extra &SHIPTOCOUNTRYCODE=US(or any country code for the matter as default) to the nvpstring before doing a SetExpressCheckout and it will begin working like a wonder.
Cheers :)
I want to integrate paypal in my website. But my requirement is, I dont want my customers to go into paypal site for payment. (I know it is not a secure way, but it is my requirements) Is there a way such that I can do credit card checks in backend using paypal APIs ? If so, which method to be used? I want it for "singapore" country and SGD as currency.
Waiting for your suggestions!!!
Thanks in advance. :)
Are you trying to avoid your users having to navigate to PayPal or are you trying to 'hide' the use of PayPal?
The prior should be easy enough to resolve. PayPay provide several tools (and instructions) on how to build a "Pay Now" button, which you can manipulate server side to include a dynamic amount and order ID etc. This would forward the user to a PayPal page to login and confirm payment, then return them to your site (any page you specify) on completion. You can also link this to an IPN. The PayPal payment page can be skinned / branded to an extent.
What you are looking is called Direct Payment. Here is more info about it:

Maybe you are looking for this Paypal product
Had a nice little custom button with a few parameters I was POSTing to PayPal (and getting POSTed back via IPN) a few years ago working fine. Payments were disabled for several years, but now my client wants to resume subscriptions with their new campaign.
I switched back to the sandbox hostname/merchant accounts, did a sandbox transaction with a test Visa card, and all was well.
Switched it to the live hostname/merchant account, went to do another test with a real Visa, but noticed that not only has the real PayPal site been completely rebranded/redesigned, they now seem to be forcing you to create a PayPal account: on the sandbox, there's a blurb with a link that says "continue" which takes you right to the credit card/billing information (this is identical to what the live PayPal site used to look like a few years ago).
NOTE: The merchant account has changed; I'm not sure if that matters or not and/or if there's any settings in there I need to change.
Question: is this the way it is now with PayPal? I can't seem to find any official information that says yes/no. Besides the Express, is there any other IPN method that'll work here or is this a policy thing at PayPal? I'd hate to rewrite my working/tested code, but this isn't going to fly with my client.
Yahel's answer is incorrect: I called PayPal, and they explained that the following conditions must be met in order to accept non-PayPal payments:
The business email address must be confirmed. You can check by going to Profile > Email.
PayPal Account Optional must be checked:
Go to www.paypal.com.au and log in to your Business account.
Click 'Profile icon' near the top right of the page (next to "Log out" button)
Click "Profile & settings"
Click ‘My selling tools.’
Click ‘Update' beside 'Website preferences.’
Select 'On' under 'PayPal Account Optional' near the bottom of the page.
Click 'Save.'
Yes paypal has been forcing users to create an account for a long time now. Before that you could use a credit card up to 10 times and then it would force you to create an account anyway.
The reason you are seeing the old branding in your sandbox is probably because it is you old sandbox on an old paypal server.
Last I tried there was no way around this new policy.
But djechelon is right, they have an excellent customer service, give them a call.
PayPal does force people to create accounts, even when they want to just make a single payment. I was puzzled by this situation too: I was choosing the option to pay without a PayPal account, but still was forced to provide all the private details enough for PayPal to create an account for me against my wishes. Very sneaky of PayPal! Then I found this page and that explained a lot.
This is the message I received in my PayPal Account:
PayPal Account Optional
When this feature is turned on, your customers will go through an optimized checkout experience. This feature is available for Buy Now, Donations, and Shopping Cart buttons, but not for Subscription buttons.
So you cannot provide a regular "Subscribe" experience to non-PayPal customers. I believe you must pay the $19.99 a month "Enhanced Subscription" for this.
PayPal Has a Purchasing Limit of $3,000 for "Guests".
I ran into this issue as well and #gravyface was bang on with setting your account preferences. However, my customers were still having issues paying without a PayPal account.
I called PayPal and it turns out they have a $3,000 (cumulative) purchasing limit for "guests". My customer's invoice was for $7,000 so even though my preferences were set to make the PayPal account optional, it still would not go through.
Hope that helps others.
