Having trouble trying to get passed this last dependency for an old Cisco dump.pl script.
https://supportforums.cisco.com/blog/154046
So far I've installed the following dependencies:
apt-get install libclass-gomor-perl libnet-libdnet-perl libnet-pcap-perl libbit-vector-perl libnetpacket-perl
and placed all of his custom perl modules in a Net/ directory
then finally I run
./dump.pl
My output:
*** Net::Frame::Layer::8021X module not found.
*** Either install it (if avail), or implement it.
*** You can also send the pcap file to perl#gomor.org.
Frame number: 11 (length: 60)
Frame NUMBER 11 SSL FOUND, preparing SSL payload and crafting TCP packet
*** Net::Frame::Layer::8021X module not found.
*** Either install it (if avail), or implement it.
*** You can also send the pcap file to perl#gomor.org.
Frame number: 12 (length: 64)
Frame NUMBER 12 SSL FOUND, preparing SSL payload and crafting TCP packet
*** Net::Frame::Layer::8021X module not found.
*** Either install it (if avail), or implement it.
*** You can also send the pcap file to perl#gomor.org.
Frame number: 13 (length: 61)
Frame NUMBER 13 SSL FOUND, preparing SSL payload and crafting TCP packet
After debugging using perl -d dump.pl, I saw that it actually requires the modules Net::Frame::Layer::ETH and Net::Frame::Layer::8021X. The former I have and the latter is missing.
Net::Frame::Simple::unpack(Net/Frame/Simple.pm:98):
98: for (1..1000) {
DB<4> n
Net::Frame::Simple::unpack(Net/Frame/Simple.pm:99):
99: last unless $raw;
DB<4> n
Net::Frame::Simple::unpack(Net/Frame/Simple.pm:101):
101: $encapsulate =~ s/[^-:\w]//g; # Fix potential code injection
DB<4> n
Net::Frame::Simple::unpack(Net/Frame/Simple.pm:102):
102: my $layer = 'Net::Frame::Layer::'.$encapsulate;
DB<4> n
Net::Frame::Simple::unpack(Net/Frame/Simple.pm:103):
103: eval "require $layer";
DB<4> n
So I installed these dependencies:
apt-get install cpanminus
cpanm Net::Frame
cpanm Net::Frame::Simple
cpanm Net::Frame::Layer
cpanm Socket6
I'm still hitting the same issue.
With additional debugging it seems that the issue is with raw => $h->{raw} because I ran print Net::Frame::Simple->new( firstLayer => $h->{firstLayer}, timestamp => $h->{timestamp} ) and print $h->{raw} in the interpreter without triggering the issue.
main::(dump.pl:44): my $f = Net::Frame::Simple->new(
main::(dump.pl:45): raw => $h->{raw},
main::(dump.pl:46): firstLayer => $h->{firstLayer},
main::(dump.pl:47): timestamp => $h->{timestamp},
main::(dump.pl:48): );
It will write out an ssl.pcap file but it will not contain the raw packet data, just the firstLayer e.g. ETH and the UNIX timestamp. I also made sure that I'm using the local modules inside the Net/ directory by replacing all of the use statements with require and replacing the :: with /.
Still complains when trying to require Net::Frame::Layer::8021X which doesn't seem to exist anywhere on the Internet...

Can someone help, thanks
I'm also still on High Sierra (10.13.6), on an ancient-but-still-running Mac Mini mid-2010. Using the built-in /usr/bin/perl (v5.18.2), running install Net::MAC::Vendor inside the CPAN shell gave me the same error. Running force install Net::MAC::Vendor worked, in that the module was installed.
A simple perl -MNet::MAC::Vendor -e "print 'hi'" works, so it looks like Perl can at least load that library, not really sure how to test that it works for real. But, at least this will let you install it and try it.
Having the exact issue as described at: perl module Class::HPLOO v0.23 install issue, I have attempted to correct the defined(#array) problem by editing to just (#array) and trying to rebuild the module. However I continue to get the return of:
$ make clean
$ perl Makefile.PL

There are three issues with Class::HPLOO (which as I noted before, hasn't been updated since 2005) that make it fail with modern perls.
As discovered in the previous post,
the obsolete construct defined (#array) is used once in lib/Class/HPLOO.pm' and three times inlib/Class/HPLOO/Base.pm`. This construction has been prohibited since v5.22
The current directory (.) is no longer in #INC (as of v5.24, I think). So the lines in test.pl like
require "test/classtest.pm"
either all need to be rewritten as
require "./test/classtest.pm"
or an easier fix is to put
use lib '.';
at the top of the script.
There is a regular expression in lib/Class/HPLOO.pm, line 1077, with an "unescaped left brace"
$sub =~ s/(\S)( {) (\S)/$1$2\n$FIRST_SUB_IDENT $3/gs ;
{ is a regex metacharacter, and since v5.22 it has been illegal to use it in a context where it is not indicating a quantity. The fix, as the error message suggests, is to escape it.
$sub =~ s/(\S)( \{) (\S)/$1$2\n$FIRST_SUB_IDENT $3/gs ;
Make these three changes to the code you download from CPAN and the module should build on modern Perls. If you're feeling helpful, you can submit a bug report (linking to this post, if you want) or even a patch with an email to bug-Class-HPLOO#rt.cpan.org

I cannot for the life of me figure out how to setup Bugzilla to send email using TLS. I got the Bugzilla site running, however, when I try to change my Bugzilla account email, the system fails with the following (I setup my email parameters to use my Amazon AWS email server):

I've read that perhaps it is because Email::Send::SMTP::TLS requires Net::SSLeay package. So I proceed to try to install it using cpanm. However, cpanm fails with the following log:

I do not know perl and cannot figure out why I'm getting errors left and right.
I read in many places that I can simply install all available packages using command like:
/usr/bin/perl install-module.pl --all
However, this command does not work for me. (I can't install any modules using CPAN at all, not sure why) It pretty much just does nothing for me. This is the output I get when execute install-module.pl:

I'm not sure why things just don't work for me. Do I have a faulty perl installation or what? Can some perl guru please help?
Thanks!
Solved the issue by killing my Bugzilla installation (5.0.1) and completely re-install an older version (4.4.10). Things just worked with the previous version.
I fought with the same problem, with Bugzilla 5, for half a day. I did not have any success getting STARTTLS to work, which is odd, because it's the standard way to send email these days. I finally gave up and activated SMTPS (port 465) on my Postfix server. It was very easy to do this, and once I did it, Bugzilla could send emails easily. If you have control over the mail server, this is an easier approach because life is too short to spend it reading through perl code. Edit: all these years later, STARTTLS still doesn't work on Bugzilla. I tried installing libnet-smtp-tls-butmaintained-perl which some suggested, but that didn't help. For those finding this post, give up and use smtps.
I've been trying to install WWW::Mechanize::Firefox through CPAN and I am having trouble installing the dependency MozRepl. The installation goes through but the tests all fail, and when I force install it and run my perl script, I run into an error
Failed to connect to , at /Library/Perl/5.12/MozRepl/RemoteObject.pm line 467.
SO I uninstalled MozRepl and looked at the tests I get the following errors in the log:
# Failed test at t/10-plugin-repl-enter.t line 11.

etc..
I am running on Mac OSX 10.8.4, 4 GB Ram 2.5 Ghz, Perl version 5.12. Does anybody have any idea what is causing these errors?
UPDATE:
i reinstalled mozrepl, and now I get this error when i run my script:
Failed to connect to , problem connecting to "localhost", port 4242: Connection refused at /Users/thui/perl5/perlbrew/perls/perl-5.16.0/lib/site_perl/5.16.0/MozRepl/Client.pm line 144
This works for me with perl 5.10 or later, latest Firefox (26 as of writing) and Mozrepl from github.
At command propmpt:
(1) Download MozRepl and build the XPI file (Firefox extension):
git clone git://github.com/bard/mozrepl
cd mozrepl
zip -r ../mozrepl.zip *
cd ..
mv mozrepl.zip mozrepl.xpi
(2) Install the extension in Firefox via about:addons [Install from file].
In Firefox:
(3) Menu->Tools->Mozrepl->Activate On Startup
(4) Menu->Tools->Mozrepl->Start
At command propmpt:
(5) which firefox
Make sure the firefox executable (or your OS's wrapper script) is in $PATH - you should get some output!
(6) cpanm WWW::Mechanize::Firefox
(7) Test it!
At this point, if CPANminus reports no errors then WWW::Mechanize::Firefox should be working. The first example from the synopsis is a good test:
#!/usr/bin/perl
use WWW::Mechanize::Firefox;
my $mech = WWW::Mechanize::Firefox->new();
$mech->get('http://google.com');
That assumes MozRepl is listening on port 4242 (check in Menu->Tools->Mozrepl->Change Port). You can also change the port from the perl side; see options for ->new().
(8) cpanm HTML::Display::Common
I found that bcat.pl from the examples required this module, but it wasn't installed as a dependency.
I am running Perl 5.10 on a shared Red Hat Linux 6.2 server. I have asked the root user of the machine to install the Perl DateTime module for me, using the following commands:

But the following error occurred while installing DateTime. Here is the last bits of error log:
