I have a requirement to encrypt/decrypt selected attribute values for some of the JSON packets that will flow through the API gateway. Is this possible using Bluemix API Management?
I have looked through the documentation, but didn't find anything so maybe this is an undocumented feature.
You would have to write a microservice or some app code to do this.

I made a json api with using this => https://www.django-rest-framework.org/tutorial/quickstart/
All the articles I read teach the creation and use of api within its own platform, what I need is what I produce on the web, use it to in other platforms. I made my api but no idea about how to import it in other platforms..
so how can I use my own api in my c# windows form application or my flutter project
Any link, guide etc.
First of all you should be clear about why you need an api. If you need to transfer data from one system to another, pick a way that you know you can operate on both sides.
JSON or XML are just ways of representing data, first think about what you need and how can you transport that data between systems...After that the implementation should be clear.
I am fairly new to APIs and I keep seeing this phrase "consume an API", and have looked it up however I am unable to understand it clearly.
To my understanding "consume an API" means I have an application, I am trying to retrive data from another external application. The API would be transforming the data for my application. Im just confused because it's saying consume an API, but wouldn't the API be consuming the data?
Please forgive me if I'm not making sense, this subject is very new to me and I am just trying to get a basic understanding. Please give me the longest answer you can. Thank you in advance.
Please refer to the defination of API https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Application_programming_interface
The API would be transforming the data for my application
Api won't be transforming the data for your application, rather your application would be transforming the data that an API sends, so your application is acting as a client and consuming the data.
I've been looking around the internet for information on Koha ILS restful api but I haven't found anything concrete. There is this link which talks about its HTTP API: http://wiki.koha-community.org/wiki/Koha_/svc/_HTTP_API but there are no examples and I'm quite confused with the MARCXML format required.
What I want to do is use this API to create biblio records into a remote Koha ILS system. If I understand correctly, using these services I can create records (probably using a JSON-to-MARC convert tool) but will I be able to also upload pdf files of each record in BASE64 format? It doesn't look like this is possible using this API although I'm not really sure.
The HTTP API available in Koha is a well-established protocol, called SRU, for searching library catalogs. This is protocol is meant only for searching, not for updating records.
Secondly, even though SRU 2.0 provides option for transmission of records in JSON format, most implementations do not support it yet.
Coming back to your use case, Koha cannot store PDF documents. It is a process automation tool in a library for physical collections, which deals only with metadata records. For storing digital documents you should look for document management solutions, such as DSpace, or smaller and easier Omeka. DSpace provides its own REST API for searching as well as supports SWORD protocol for uploading documents.
I would like to use a REST API as a data source for tableau. Is this possible in any way? The API service returns standard JSON, and I would think that would be an ideal scenario for tableau. Rather than connecting to some backend database behind the API.
Thanks
The web data connector does this and is in beta right now as noted by inox. See: https://www.tableau.com/web-data-connector
"The Web Data Connector will allow you to create a connection to almost any data that is accessible over HTTP. This can include internal web services, JSON data, REST APIs, and many other sources. It will not be supported in the initial launch of Tableau 9.0. Beta participants will be able to use a dedicated product key to continue building and testing connectors until the Web Data Connector officially launches."
Also, you can use the Extract API to create Tableau Extracts from an API: https://www.tableau.com/learn/tutorials/on-demand/extract-api-introduction
I'm pretty new with an Ember so for the start I have a noob question - is it possible to use Local Storage and REST adapter at the same time?
For example, if I want to do a login via API, if login is success the server will return an API key which is used for later communication with a service. Is it possible to store that information locally on the client and to retrieve it when necessary but also, for other models, to use REST adapter?
If this is not a good way to handle such case, which one would you propose and is there any kind of example which would me lead me in the right direction?
Thanks to the people from #emberjs, I found out that there is a wonderful ember-auth authentication framework for the Ember.js which does what I need.
