Is there a way to sort a drill-down chart of a Dynamics CRM?
For example, I have two custom fields (X and Y) on a lead entity. I've already made a chart that use X and Y as the axis and already have them custom sorted.
However, there is a case when I want to drill-down chart X using Y field. If I do that I will get a drill-down Y chart that is not custom sorted.
Is there a way for me to sort the drill-down Y chart?
This is presumably not the answer you were hoping for: No, drill-down charts cannot really be customized.
I would suggest the following alternative solution:
Make a system chart showing the same values that is shown in the specific drill-down chart.
Apply custom sorting to this system chart, which you are aware is possible.
Have your users use this system chart instead of doing drill down. In this case they would first apply filtering to the view to show only the specific X values they are interested in. By then selecting your system chart, they will actually see the same data they would have by drilling down - only the data is sorted as intended.

I have been trying to visualise a sequence chart(flow) in tableau using sankey chart. is there any workaround for sankey? if there is an workaround suggest a good visualisation.
You can use heatmaps with source/ target in rows and columns and the flow value be represented in the cell.
Alternatively, you can stick with tableau for sankeys. I have done that and it adds immense value to develop overall storyline.
I have created a confidence vs. competence chart using Report Builder 3.0. Currently the "cross section" of the chart is static and separated by a background image on the chart.
Like this:
However, as a requirement, the cross section needs to be dynamic. I can remove the background image (it isn't needed). I can pass the values for the both the x and y axis into the report when the lines need to cross. The problem is trying to actually implement this on the chart.
Can anyone provide a solution or point me in the right direction?
The cross section is just a line graph (or two) overlayed on your original chart.
Here's an example of overlayed charts:

I'm using BIRT right now to display some charts. I need to display a bar chart based on scripted data. If there is too much data, then the chart X series get very compact.
I want to limit the number of X series displayed on a chart, let's say to 5, then the next 5 to draw on another chart and so on. This is possible in JasperReports by using nested groups and resetting the chart on a group event. I can't achieve this in BIRT.
Is this possible in BIRT?
P.S. I need to obtain what is on top of the image below, like in Jasper. What I can with BIRT is on the bottom-right
Yes, this is possible:
Add a Table item to the report, with the appropriate dataset.
Add a group to the table, to restrict the number of series to no more than 5 series per group (ie. grouped in the same way as the nested groups would be set up in your JasperReports.)
Delete all rows from the table object except the group footer.
Add a graph to the group footer (by dragging from the Palette) and set up columns, values and series as normal.
No resetting of the chart on a group event should be necessary, since the grouping is already done within the table object.
I want to show a line chart, each point in the line chart will refer to a user. So whomever looks at the chart understands who the user is, I'd like each point to have a picture of the user and the user's name. Does anyone know any API that will let me do that?
I was looking at googles line chart (http://code.google.com/apis/chart/interactive/docs/gallery/linechart.html) but I cannot see anyway for me to have each data point represented as an image.
Using Java and JavaFX, you can build a StackPane where you can put two charts (one above other), where the back is a LineChart and the front is a ScatterChart. In this case, these charts will share the same X axis and Y axis, and on ScatterChart you can personalize the points with a picture.
Look:

I hope this helps you.
It seems counter intuitive to have different points on the same line of a line graph represent different users.
(Line graphs) show in a linear form one or more variables that fluctuate over a period of time.
I believe if there is more than one variable that would mean there would be more than one line, so it is hard to make suggestions without more information about your specific application. With the currently available data I would recommend amcharts's Column chart with images on top:
SSRS 2008. Working with 3d Area Chart.
In Excel you can label the X, Y, and the Z Axes, but in SSRS I seem to only be able to label the x and y axes and the Z axis labels seem to be only go in the Legend. I don't want a legend though, I need to have the text describing each color area right next to it.
Thank you very much!
Since charting in SSRS 2008 is an implementation of Dundas I contacted their support department where I was told that the feature I'm looking fro does not exist in either the SSRS embedded version or the box version of their product for that chart type. I contacted other chart vendors and found anothe rbig one that does have the feature I seek, but when I attempted to us it in the demo, the results were illegible with no way to format the labels in such a way that they did not cover each other up. I have not yet found a product (outside of Excel) that is able to clearly display labels on the Depth axis.
