How to Solve UnknownHostException while deploying DU in JBoss - jboss

I am creating ResourceAdapter using EclipSLEE. Following is my deploy-config.xml
Deploy-config.xml
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<!DOCTYPE deploy-config PUBLIC "-//Red Hat, Inc.//DTD JAIN SLEE Deploy Config 1.1//EN"
"http://www.mobicents.org/slee/dtd/deploy-config_1_1.dtd">
<deploy-config>
<ra-entity entity-name="AFPTelnetRA" resource-adaptor-id="ResourceAdaptorID[name=AFPTelnetRA,vendor=kalsym,version=1.0]">
<ra-link name="AFPTelnetRA" />
</ra-entity>
</deploy-config>
It is successfully deployed in JBoss running on windows10.
When I try to deploy it on JBoss running on Linux (centOS) machine. It gives following error:
Error Logs

How to solve this issue? Thanks

The issue resolve after I added following line in /etc/hosts file using vi command

Arquillian - Wildfly cannot deploy test.war (Could not connect to http-remoting://127.0.0.1:9990. The connection failed)

I am trying to run a simple JPA test (persist, read, JSON serialize) with Arquillian and Wildfly (8.1.0.Final and 8.2.0.Final tested) container, but until now I was not able to deploy test.war to the embedded server. The test runs with Jboss 7.1.1.Final container.
I have used arquillian-tutorial package given on Arquillian Getting Started Guide and Arquillian Example Project (google: github arquillian tutorial)
I have used Arquillian - Wildfly configuration given here
You can find a downloadable project package on google drive. You can see Maven and Arquillian configurations in that package. I have tried with or without Management realm credentials. On profile wildfy81-embedded-credentials (which is the default in the package), the build first unpacks wildfly package and then overwrites mgmt-users.properties and mgmt-groups.properties where admin user credentials and role is defined.
The exception is

I wonder if this is because of URL

Edit 2
In the attached project (google drive link above), you will see there is another profile wildfy81-embedded in pom.xml with different arquillian configuration where I do not supply management address or username and password, only jbossHome and modulePath folders are defined. I get same exception (same port as well, 9990).

I have encountered this exception (invalid response part) a few times because of Nvidia drivers on windows platform. NVIDIA Network Service is using the same port WildFly/JBoss AS is using. If you are using windows with nvidia, then please go to local services and stop this service, then check if the tests work :).
A few comments:
I have tried jboss/wildfly embedded a million times and never gotten it to work. It seems to merge the classpath with your maven or IDE environment with Wildfly. As a result I always have to revert to -managed deployment. Your example project works for me in this sense when I change it to managed.
I would recommend upgrading Arquillian to the latest version: 1.1.9.Final. A lot of bug fixes happen between releases
Your DeploymentFactory is referring to jar files in the /target/ directory but those don't exist under a normal maven run. (maybe your IDE is putting them there?). A better way to get the jar files you need is to use the shrinkwrap maven resolver.
<dependency>
<groupId>org.jboss.shrinkwrap.resolver</groupId>
<artifactId>shrinkwrap-resolver-depchain</artifactId>
<version>2.1.0</version>
<scope>test</scope>
<type>pom</type>
</dependency>
ConfigurableMavenResolverSystem mvnResolver = Maven.configureResolver();
PomEquippedResolveStage pers = mvnResolver.loadPomFromFile("pom.xml");
return ShrinkWrap.create(WebArchive.class, "test.war")
.addPackage(MyBean.class.getPackage())
.addAsLibraries(pers.resolve("commons-collections:commons-collections").withTransitivity().asFile())
.addAsLibraries(pers.resolve("net.sf.flexjson:flexjson").withTransitivity().asFile())
.addAsResource("test-persistence.xml", "META-INF/persistence.xml")
.addAsWebInfResource("jboss-ds.xml")
.addAsWebInfResource(EmptyAsset.INSTANCE, "beans.xml");
Changing management port in Wildfly worked for me:
<plugin>
<groupId>org.apache.maven.plugins</groupId>
<artifactId>maven-failsafe-plugin</artifactId>
<version>2.18.1</version>
<configuration>
<forkCount>1</forkCount>
<systemPropertyVariables>
<java.util.logging.manager>org.jboss.logmanager.LogManager</java.util.logging.manager>
<jboss.home>${project.basedir}/container/wildfly-8.1.0.Final</jboss.home>
<module.path>${project.basedir}/container/wildfly-8.1.0.Final/modules</module.path>
<jboss.http.port>8181</jboss.http.port>
<jboss.management.http.port>9090</jboss.management.http.port>
</systemPropertyVariables>
<redirectTestOutputToFile>false</redirectTestOutputToFile>
</configuration>
<executions>
<execution>
<goals>
<goal>integration-test</goal>
<goal>verify</goal>
</goals>
</execution>
</executions>
</plugin>
Remember to configure management port for Arquillian in arquillian.xml:
<container qualifier="wildfly-embedded" default="true">
<configuration>
<property name="managementPort">9090</property>
</configuration>
</container>

Openshift - deploying simple Java EE app on Wildfly fails

I'm trying to deploy a very simple application on Openshift. It's an EAR project with a single WAR and EJB module. Inside the WAR there's a REST service that calls an EJB defined in EJB module. Locally and on Openshift I'm using Wildfly 9.0.0 CR2 and PostgreSQL 9.2. When deploying locally everything works fine. When the same code is deployed on Openshift I'm getting following errors in logs:

The address mentioned - 127.12.77.1 is $OPENSHIFT_WILDFLY_IP.
I have no idea what is causing this issue. First I thought it's a database connectivity issue because it happens when 2nd phase of starting persistence unit happens. I connected to DB on Openshift and saw that it was created successfully so maybe that's not it, but here's the persistence.xml I'm using:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<persistence version="2.0" xmlns="http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/persistence" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance"
xsi:schemaLocation="http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/persistence http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/persistence/persistence_2_0.xsd">
<persistence-unit name="cookingPU">
<provider>org.hibernate.jpa.HibernatePersistenceProvider</provider>
<jta-data-source>java:jboss/datasources/PostgreSQLDS</jta-data-source>
<properties>
<property name="hibernate.dialect" value="org.hibernate.dialect.PostgreSQL9Dialect" />
</properties>
</persistence-unit>
</persistence>
The datasource used is the default one. I didn't change anything in standalone.xml.
Another thing I noticed is that the deploy problem happens when I add any EJB to the project.
This is a simple one I tried to use:
#Stateless
public class AnyEjb {
public String hello() {
return "Hi there!";
}
}
This is defined in EJB module. Then in web module I have this class calling it:
#Path("anything")
#Consumes(MediaType.APPLICATION_JSON)
#Produces(MediaType.APPLICATION_JSON)
public class AnyEndpoint {
#EJB
private AnyEjb anyEjb;
#GET
public String sayHi() {
return anyEjb.hello();
}
}
I'm not sure if and how it can be connected with this BindException.
I've tried running this application locally with both standalone and standalone-full-ha profile and it works in both cases. I just feel it has to be some issue with Openshift configuration but I have no idea where to look anymore. I'm very new to Openshift and Java EE. Please point me in a right direction. Any help will be much appreciated.
Might be https://issues.jboss.org/browse/JGRP-1928. Talk to Rado Husar to see how to resolve this.
It looks like the problem is (as #Bela Ban suggested) connected with the version of JGroups shipped with WildFly 9.0.0CR2. I will be waiting for the fix coming with the Final version of WildFly.
Meanwhile as a workaround to be able to deploy an application on WildFly 9.0.0CR2 on Openshift, I decided to disable clustering capabilities for my server.
In standalone.xml available in .openshift I have removed org.jboss.as.clustering.jgroups module and changed infinispan cache settings from distributed to local.
I have been basing on this solution (for WildFly 8): https://gist.github.com/fjuma/3df7f64fbaebd5506ef5#file-standalone-xml
But I had to modify it so that it works on Wildfly 9. Full standalone.xml that's been working for me is available here for reference http://pastebin.com/aANkPUWk

Connection pooling on a Tomcat 7

I am having issues with implementing connection pooling on a tomcat7.
For some reason tomcat is trying to connect with my machines username. I have been googlin it for a while now but without a luck.

<Resource auth="Container" name="jdbc/postgres" type="javax.sql.DataSource" user="biller" password="biller"
driverClassName="org.postgresql.Driver" url="jdbc:postgresql://localhost:5432" maxActive="150"
schema="biller" maxIdle="4"/>
And the web.xml:
<resource-ref>
<description>postgreSQL Datasource</description>
<res-ref-name>jdbc/postgres</res-ref-name>
<res-type>javax.sql.DataSource</res-type>
<res-auth>Container</res-auth>
</resource-ref>
I am using jdbc4.jar postgres driver.
I appreciate if somebody can have a look and point out what is the mistake
Thanks in advance
The URL seems to be wrong.
Try this URL :
jdbc:postgresql://localhost:5432/<db_name>
Replace the <db_name> with actual database name.
This is not the right solution here for the issue but would help somebody searching with the same issue with correct connection string.
Check for your network connection access:
Like connection string
jdbc:postgresql://[::1]:5432/<db_name>
uses IPv6,
This will break other connections like accessing wsdl urls from application that are available only via IPv4.
Please hava a look on network connection especially windows 8.

java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: org/apache/juli/logging/LogFactory

I have actually figured this problem out, but it took me days, so I thought I would paste my solution here to aide others.
I am using Fedora 11, and in Eclipse I tried adding a Tomcat 6 server and starting it. I would get the following error:
'Starting Tomcat v6.0 Server at localhost' has encountered a problem.
Server Tomcat v6.0 Server at localhost failed to start.
Then in my console I got the following:
Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: org/apache/juli/logging/LogFactory

Could not find the main class: org.apache.catalina.startup.Bootstrap. Program will exit.
I'll post the solution in an answer below.
I found the solution here: http://forums.opensuse.org/applications/391114-tomcat6-eclipse-not-working.html
In Eclipse, Open the "Server" tab.
Double click on the "Tomcat6" entry to see the configuration.
Then click on the "Open launch configuration" link in the "General information" block.
In the dialog, select the "Classpath" tab.
Click the "Add external jar" button.
Select the file "/usr/share/tomcat6/bin/tomcat-juli.jar"
Close the dialog.
Start tomcat 6 from Eclipse.
Hopefully posting it here will help some poor soul.
I copied the contents of the "C:\Program Files\Apache Software Foundation\Tomcat 6.0\conf" directory to the "workspace\Servers\Tomcat v6.0 Server at localhost-config" directory for Eclipse. I refreshed the "Servers\Tomcat v6.0 Server at localhost-config" folder in the Eclipse Project Explorer and then everything was good.
install tomcat
# yum install tomcat6*
edit tomcat conf file
# vim /etc/tomcat6/tomcat-users.xml
something like:
<?xml version='1.0' encoding='utf-8'?>
<tomcat-users>
<role rolename="tomcat"/>
<role rolename="role1"/>
<role rolename="manager"/>
<role rolename="admin"/>
<user username="tomcat" password="tomcat" roles="tomcat"/>
<user username="both" password="tomcat" roles="tomcat,role1"/>
<user username="role1" password="tomcat" roles="role1"/>
<user username="TomcatAdmin" password="tomcat" roles="admin,manager"/>
</tomcat-users>
create root directory for your J2EE project, example:
$ mkdir -p ~/Project/java/
do symbolic link, /usr/share/tomcat6/webapps/ to ~/Project/java/
# ln -s /home//Project/java//dist/.war /usr/share/tomcat6/webapps/.war
Note: war archive file is created automatcaly when you use netbeans
0r you can do:
# ln -s /home/<login>/Project/java/<myProject>/webapps /usr/share/tomcat6/webapps/<myProject>
check /etc/hosts file, this file must contain the machine name, mine hosts file
jonathan 127.0.0.1 localhost localhost.localdomain localhost4 localhost4.localdomain4
::1 localhost localhost.localdomain localhost6 localhost6.localdomain6
start httpd service
# service httpd start
check loclahost web page
start tomcat6
# service tomcat6 start
check localhost:8080 web page
check that tomcat show your project
if not:
check symbolic link and restart tomcat6 service
or add manualy with tomcat manager web page
a) Set project name
b) Se path to web.xml file
c) Valid
d) start your project (from web page)
for fedora 13 and under they are some problem, how fix it:
# chmod -R g+w /var/log/tomcat6 /etc/tomcat6/Catalina
# chmod -R g+w /usr/share/tomcat6/work/
check in log files located in /var/log/tomcat6/ if they are anymore "permission denied" message
aforementioned solutions did not help me, I could solve it by re-installing the Tomcat server which took few seconds.
On my PC I had to open the Tomcat6 entry again after the 7th step mentioned above and then change the default option under Server locations to Use tomcat installation.
