I'm trying to update / upgrade CentOS 6.5 version to 6.7 or latest 6.x but getting the following error.
In the snapshot below, I'm showing truncated output and mainly showing the error log while running YUM update or upgrade command. For full log file, please see log .txt file here: YUM update or upgrade Transaction Check Error norach conflicts. PS: Under Limited Download, click on "Slow download" and open the log file in some notepad++ type text editor.
What should I do to sucessfully upgrade/update the CentOS version. Thanks.

Solution for upgrading CentOS 6.5 to 6.6/6.7 was to first: Found this cool site for the hint http://www.if-not-true-then-false.com/2011/upgrade-centos-6/ and tried the following.
I tried to first remove puppet and yum update, it still failed with the same error. The issue was with hiera-puppet. With latest puppet (3.x.x which is what you'll get if you update just puppet), hiera-puppet comes for free OR you can say it's not required to be installed as a separate step.
So, solution to upgrade from CentOS 6.5/6.6 to 6.7 (Final) was:
# yum -y remove puppet hiera-puppet
# yum -y clean all
# yum -y update glibc* yum* rpm* python*
# yum -y update
# cat /etc/redhat-release; ## This will now give: CentOS release 6.7 (Final)

I thought I successfully upgraded from CentOS8 to Centos Stream 8, however I was never able to get dnf distro-sync to work. Now DNF appears to be broken and dnf upgrade throws unsatisfied dependencies for libsmartcols.so.1 in relation to DNF itself.

I tried every possible combination of --skip-broken, --nobest --allowerasing, etc. to resolve. Tried using the vault versions, no difference. All of the old CentOS repos were removed, so the only repos in the /etc/yum.repos.d/ folder are -Stream-. I do not have any EPEL repos installed at this time.

To diagnose the problem, try running: 'rpm -Va --nofiles --nodigest'.
You probably have corrupted RPMDB, running 'rpm --rebuilddb' might fix the issue.
The downloaded packages were saved in cache until the next successful transaction.
You can remove cached packages by executing 'dnf clean packages'.
I have tried cleaning the packages (dnf clean all), removing the cache files, individually trying to update/upgrade each package, etc.. I'm out of ideas.
Any suggestions?
Afer a couple more hours of trying, I was able to resolve it by performing the following:
Copy a CentOS-Base.repo file from another server
Edit the repo file to reflect the vault.centos.org location, turn off gpgcheck
dnf clean all
dnf install libsmartcols-2.32.1-28.el8
Ran dnf -y upgrade again and it worked. Go figure.
Hopefully, this will help someone else with the same or similar issue.

Does anyone know how to resolve the No package vnstat available issue?
vnstat is not available in base repository. You first need to enable EPEL (Extra Packages for Enterprise Linux) repository with:
yum install epel-release
After that, yum install vnstat should work.

Since the package name has changed, you do need to remove the old package and install the new one. However, instead of doing this as two steps, it is cleaner to use the yum shell. This will remove the old package and install the new one in a single transaction:

You have to remove packages of MongoDB 2.4:
sudo yum remove mongo-10gen*
and then install packages of new MongoDB 2.6:
sudo yum install mongodb-org
Seems that you are upgrading from version 2.4 to 2.6 which apparently has changed the package names.
I guess you will have to remove/erase the old package mongodb-10gen* and then run this new install command for it to work.
remove the old mongodb
sudo yum remove mongo-10gen-server mongo-10gen-tools mongo-10gen-shell mongo-10gen-mongos mongo-10gen
install the new mongodb (prerequisitely, you must config the yum source, refer here )
sudo yum install mongodb-org
I'm trying to install memcached on Centos 5.4 with:
# yum install memcached
What I get is:

You need to install it manually or change your yum repo:
wget ftp://rpmfind.net/linux/dag/redhat/el5/en/x86_64/testing/RPMS/libevent-1.3b-1.el5.test.x86_64.rpm
wget http://pkgs.repoforge.org/memcached/memcached-1.2.6-1.el3.rf.x86_64.rpm
rpm -ivh libevent-1.3b-1.el5.test.x86_64.rpm
rpm -ivh memcached-1.2.6-1.el3.rf.x86_64.rpm
Note, that this is an older version of memcached
