Checksum = "SHA-256" not working - powershell

I am trying to deploy an application using Powershell DSC; it mostly works, except that I also want the executables to be checked everytime, using a checksum :
Checksum = "SHA-256"
It simply does not work, DSC doesn't see that the executable must be replace by a newer version; same thing with SHA-1. However, this works :
Checksum = "modifiedDate"
But I don't want to rely on a date, I really want the contents of the executable to be 100% correct.
Any idea why it doesn't work ?

Thanks to briantist for pointing to what was missing :
MatchSource = $true
It is very surprising to me that the default of "MatchSource" is $false...

SolrCloud Configset API upload returns 500 "KeeperErrorCode = NoNode"

Situation
First of all I must mention that I'm using Solr 8.1.1 and am running the default "solr -e cloud" to do some testing. This is running on a Windows Azure VM. I'm trying to create a PowerShell script that will do some setup on the SolrCloud. The first step in this is uploading a custom Configset. I was using https://lucene.apache.org/solr/guide/8_1/configsets-api.html as guide and the PowerShell command if you take away all the parameters and such boils down to the following:
Invoke-WebRequest -Uri "http://localhost:8983/solr/admin/configs?action=UPLOAD&name=MyConfig" -Method Post -ContentType "application/octet-stream" -InFile "config.zip"
EDIT: For clarity the contents of the ZIP is as follows: https://imgur.com/a/OHR1bf1
Problem
When I run the above command however I'm met with the following error:

Observations
When I first "failed" I had created a zip file from my config which contained an additional top level folder (ea instead of MyConfig/solrconfig.xml etc my ZIP was MyConfig/MyConfig/solrconfig.xml) and when I used this the command was run successful but the second command (creating a collection) would fail because it could not find solrconfig.xml. This tells me that the ZIP is correctly present in the request and Solr does seem capable of processing it but once I correct it to an actual configset it massively fails?
EDIT: I was asked about this and whether using "conf" in the zip would work. As I mentioned here this results in a successful upload (https://imgur.com/a/JHLZ8td) however as you can see it does not match the other config sets and when you try to create a collection with this set you will get Error CREATEing SolrCore 'Test_shard1_replica_n1': Unable to create core [Test_shard1_replica_n1] Caused by: Can't find resource 'solrconfig.xml' in classpath or '/configs/Sitecore', cwd=C:\solr-8.1.1\server
Question(s)
What am I doing wrong? Is this a bug?
Going back through some work I did on SolrCloud a while ago, I am reminded of one annoying issue I hit:
I got odd issues uploading the schema config zip files if I had created that zip using "Send to Compressed Folder" in the Windows UI, or via Compress-Archive in PowerShell. I found that compressing the data with 7Zip did work, however.
I suspect there's something incompatible between the Windows zip code (which I think is quite old, and something they licensed ages ago?) and how Solr/ZooKeeper deals with extracting the files again?
I just ran into the same issue without using Windows zip code. I was trying to upload a configset to Solr 7.7.3 from a conf directory containing a "lang" subdirectory with a bunch of files. I got the NoNode error for /configs/_myconfigsetname_/lang/stopwords_eu.txt. The configset was being zipped on the fly through a recursive directory walk in Java, sending each filename to the Zip file using Java's ZipOutputStream. The resulting zipped bytes were then sent to Solr/Zookeeper.
This code worked fine for conf directories without subdirectories. It turned out that when there is a subdirectory, it was necessary to create a ZipEntry for the directory (e.g. lang/) before adding files to the Zip stream such as lang/stopwords_eu.txt.

Powershell command for Create OSDisk and DataDisk snapshot

I am writing powershell script for capture OS-disk snapshot for Azure VM but While configuring snapshot I am getting some error.
I am using below command to create snapshot.I am using managed disk.
New-AzSnapshotConfig -OsType Linux -CreateOption copy -SourceUri Microsoft.Azure.Management.Compute.Models.OSDisk -DiskSizeGB 40 -Location 'East US'
Not sure how to do that. If anyone could you please help me to solve this issue.

Did you go to the link provided in the warning note? It says very clearly:
How do I get rid of the warnings?
To suppress these warning messages, set the environment variable 'SuppressAzurePowerShellBreakingChangeWarnings' to 'true'.
Set-Item Env:\SuppressAzurePowerShellBreakingChangeWarnings "true"
The error message is trying to tell you that the property EncryptionSettings you see in the output you provided will soon be changing from a single property of some type, to a collection property that you would have to iterate over to find all of the settings. They are trying to let you know that if you are capturing the output of New-AzSnapshotConfig to a variable and then calling $variable.EncryptionSettings, your code will work for now, but in the next breaking change release, that call will stop working. Most likely, since that property will no longer exist, the result of that call will simply be a $NULL.
So suppress this warning at your own risk because Microsoft is trying to do you a service here and let you know that if you don't do something about this your code could break. But if you are certain that you never reference property then you have nothing to worry about.

How to get Resharpers InspectCode to recognize Plugins?

I am trying to run ReSharpers command line tool InspectCode.exe. It's running fine doing it's job with the expected output.
However after my earlier attempt to get plugins to work, this time with the new version it is supposed to be supported. There is a switch in the command line interface that allows to specify the extension you want to use.
/extensions (/x) – allows using ReSharper extensions that affect code analysis. To use an extension, specify its ID, which you can find by opening the extension package page in the ReSharper Gallery, and then the Package Statistics page. Multiple values are separated with the semicolon.
But I cannot get it to work properly. I cannot even provoke any reaction to the /x switch at all. No matter how or what I pass, I get no feedback from the executable and the output is identical. I don't even get an error message when passing obvious garbage.
I tried the following commandlines for the exact same result:
inspectcode.exe /o="rcli.xml" /swea /x="ReSharper.StyleCop" "my.sln"
inspectcode.exe /o="rcli.xml" /swea /x=ReSharper.StyleCop "my.sln"
inspectcode.exe /o="rcli.xml" /swea "my.sln"
inspectcode.exe /o="rcli.xml" /swea /x=ABCDEFG "my.sln"

What am I doing wrong? How to get extensions to work?
I already tried the R# forums, but it took them more then 24h to approve my post and so far I'm not sure someone else even read it.
Unfortunately, the support for extensions was dropped in 9.0 due to the refactorings in the "ReSharper platform". I hope that JetBrains will bring it back soon.
See RSRP-436208.
This is a late answer that might help future readers (like myself). Currently inspectcode.exe will automatically look for and use any NuGet packages that are in the same folder as the executable (source).
Example for CleanCode extension:
if you have a R# instance on some machine and install the extension, it will be placed in C:\Users\{user}\AppData\Local\JetBrains\plugins\MO.CleanCode.5.6.15
copy MO.CleanCode.5.6.15.nupkg and paste it next to inspectcode.exe
when running inspectcode with verbosity = VERBOSE, the extension should appear in the Zones list:
$cmd = "..\JetBrains.ReSharper.CommandLineTools.2019.3.4\inspectcode.exe"
$outputFile = "..\Output\$($outputName).xml"
& $cmd -o="$outputFile" $sln --verbosity=VERBOSE

Installing an exe with Powershell DSC Package resource gets return code 1619

I'm trying to use Powershell DSC's Package resource to install an exe... Perforce's P4V to be specific. Here's my code:
Configuration PerforceMachine
{
Node "SERVERNAME"
{
Package P4V
{
Ensure = "Present"
Name = "Perforce Visual Components"
Path = "\\nas\share\p4vinst64.exe"
ProductId = ''
Arguments = "/S /V/qn" # args for silent mode
LogPath = "$env:ProgramData\p4v_install.log"
}
}
}
When running this, this is the error Powershell gives me:
PowerShell provider MSFT_PackageResource failed to execute Set-TargetResource functionality with error message: The return code 1619 was not expected. Configuration is likely not
correct
+ CategoryInfo : InvalidOperation: (:) [], CimException
+ FullyQualifiedErrorId : ProviderOperationExecutionFailure
+ PSComputerName : SERVERNAME
According to documentation, return code 1619 means the MSI package couldn't be opened. However, when I manually log in to the machine and run "\\nas\share\p4vinst64.exe /S /V/qn", the install works flawlessly.
Does anyone know why this is failing? Alternately, can anyone tell me how to troubleshoot this? I pasted all the error information I got from the terminal, my log file (p4v_install.log) is a 0 byte file, and there are no events in the event viewer. I don't know how to troubleshoot it any further!
EDIT: I should note that I also tried using the File resource to copy the file locally, and then install it from there. Sadly, that met with the same result.
Daniel over at the Powershell.org forums was able to figure this out for me.
The P4V InstallShield setup wrapper puts the MSI file into wrong path if you execute as LocalSystem.
I’ve managed to develop a Configuration that works, see below. The key is the /b switch here which puts the MSI file into a defined location. I’ve added ALLUSERS=1 to get the shortcuts visible to all users and REBOOT=ReallySuppress to avoid a sudden restart (which will happen otherwise).
Configuration PerforceMachine
{
Package P4V
{
Ensure = "Present"
Name = "Perforce Visual Components"
Path = "C:\My\p4vinst64.exe"
ProductId = ''
Arguments = '/b"C:\Windows\Temp\PerforceClient" /S /V"/qn ALLUSERS=1 REBOOT=ReallySuppress"' # args for silent mode
}
}
Well, what happens here is that the package gets installed (not tested with p4vinst64.exe yet! So, not sure why it says pack cannot be opened as the error) but since you did not specify a ProductID value, the verification at the end of install fails. That is the error you are seeing. The Package resource is no good for installing .exe packages or even MSIs with no ProductID represented as a GUID.
You can use the WindowsProcess resource instead.

Algebra filter error in moodle

I installed moodle 1.9.12 and now I want to use Algebra notation in content. I enable "TeX Notation" and "Algebra Notation" in administrator panel and also install mimetext and dvips and Imagemagic on the server. fortunately Tex Notation works fine but I got the following error for Algebra:
sh: /var/www/html/moodle/filter/tex/mimetex.linux: not found
The shell command
"/var/www/html/moodle/filter/tex/mimetex.linux" -e "/var/www/moodledata/filter/algebra/de06d6c44d98ba4e42dffca988bf530b.gif" -- '\Large \frac{\sin\left(z\right)}{x^{2}+y^{2}}'
returned status = 127
File size of mimetex executable /var/www/html/moodle/filter/tex/mimetex.linux is 830675
The file permissions are: 100775
The md5 checksum of the file is 56bcc40de905ce92ebd7b083c76e019e
Image not found!
Note: /var/www/html/moodle/filter/tex/mimetex.linux exists on the server and is executable!!!
What is the problem?? Any idea?????
From what you have described, calling the general tex filter debug page works and does not show up the same error.
/filter/tex/texdebug.php works, but /filter/algebra/algebradebug.php does not.
If this is the case, perhaps you could check for an open_basedir, or safe_mode_exec_dir being set to include the current working directory, or otherwise restricting the execution of /var/www/html/moodle/filter/tex/mimetex.linux, while the current working directory is /var/www/html/moodle/filter/algebra.
You could look at this by visiting /admin/phpinfo.php at your site, and look carefully at the effective values of open_basedir, safe_mode and safe_mode_exec_dir.
You could also check the apache error log or add the following lines to the top of the algebra debug php file, and you might see some extra error messages:
$CFG->debug = 6143 ;
$CFG->debugdisplay= 1 ;
Hope that helps
