I have a confirm modal shown after a button clicked and in this modal has two buttons, "Cancel" and "Add". The "Add" will expend data into its own item list and it works fine. But if I click "Cancel" and then go back to show this modal again, if then I click "Add", my item list will be expended times depends on how many time I click "Cancel" before. I try .data("bs.modal", null) or .off('click') at .on("hidden.bs.modal"). None of them can fix my problem.
The sample link Sample
<div class="major">
<button class='btn btn-danger btn-xs' type="submit" name="additem" value="Add"><span class="fa fa-times"></span> add</button>
<ul id="itemlist" data="0">
</ul>
</div>
<div class="major">
<button class='btn btn-danger btn-xs' type="submit" name="additem" value="Add"><span class="fa fa-times"></span> add</button>
<ul id="itemlist" data="100">
</ul>
</div>
<!-- Modal -->
<div id="confirm" class="modal hide fade">
<div class="modal-body">
Are you sure?
</div>
<div class="modal-footer">
<button type="button" data-dismiss="modal" class="btn btn-primary" id="add">Add</button>
<button type="button" data-dismiss="modal" class="btn">Cancel</button>
</div>
</div>
the script,
$('button[name="additem"]').on('click', function(e){
var $major=$(this).closest('.major');
e.preventDefault();
$('#confirm').modal({ backdrop: 'static', keyboard: false })
.one('click', '#add', function (e) {
var num = parseInt($major.children("#itemlist").attr("data")) + 1;
$major.children("#itemlist").append("<li>new item" + num + "</li>");
$major.children("#itemlist").attr("data", num);
});
});
$("#confirm").on("hidden.bs.modal", function(){
$(this).data("bs.modal", null);
$("#add").off("click");
});
Following were the problems :
Function for "Add Items"
All the code was inside function for Add Items, So whenever add button was getting called for displaying modal box, modal box's ADD button's code was also executing..
Jquery .one()
It will execute only one time, so I have replaced it with on which will be executed on every click to "Add button of Modal"
I have taken code out from the function and replaced one with on, now it works fine !!!
Updated fiddle can be found at : http://jsfiddle.net/L3ddq/732/
var $major ;
$('button[name="additem"]').on('click', function(e){
$major=$(this).closest('.major');
e.preventDefault();
$('#confirm').modal({ backdrop: 'static', keyboard: false });
});
$('#confirm').on('click', '#add', function (e) {
var num = parseInt($major.children("#itemlist").attr("data")) + 1;
$major.children("#itemlist").append("<li>new item" + num + "</li>");
$major.children("#itemlist").attr("data", num);
});

I have a main view that has a button "AddSkillBtn" which on clicked shows a modal popup witha partial view inside. Works fine so far. I have a link inside the partial view "addAnotherSkill" which on clicked has to show an alert. However, the click event doesn't get fired at all. Please find below the code snippet - Any help much appreciated!!
**jQuery:**
$('#AddSkillBtn').click(function (e) {
$.ajax({
url: '#Url.Action("MyAction", "MyController")',
type: "POST"
success: function (result) {
$("#AddContainer").html(result);
$('#AddModal').modal('show');
}
});
});
$("#addAnotherSkill").on('click', function () {
alert("Hi!!");
});
**Main View**
<p><a id="AddSkillBtn" href="javascript:void(0)" class="btn btn-rounded btn-primary">Add new Skill</a></p>
<div class="modal modal-wide fade" id="AddModal" tabindex="-1" role="dialog" aria-labelledby="AddLabel" aria-hidden="true">
<div class="modal-dialog">
<div class="modal-content">
<div class="modal-header">
<button type="button" class="close" data-dismiss="modal" aria-hidden="true">×</button>
<h4 class="modal-title" id="AddLabel">Add New Skills</h4>
</div>
<div class="modal-body">
<div id="AddContainer">
</div>
</div>
</div>
</div>
</div>
**Partial View rendered in the modal popup has**
<a id="addAnotherSkill" href="javascript:void(0)"><i class="fa fa-plus"></i> Add Another</a> //clicking on this link does nothing
Your element with id="addAnotherSkill" is being added to DOM dynamically. In order to use event delegation using the .on() function, it needs to be
$(document).on('click', '#addAnotherSkill', function (e) {
e.preventDefault();
...
}
Note you should change document to the closest ancestor of the element which exists when the page is first loaded.
Note also the use of e.preventDefault() which means that you can just use <a id="addAnotherSkill" href="#"> (my preference but I have seen arguments for and against - for example the answers here)
I've been searching for a while for a solution to this issue, but nothing seems to be working... I have a form within a modal from bootstrap, and I need to perform validation on the form before submitting. On submission it just goes to another page, simple.
But when the validation fails, what I want is for the modal to not close, the form will not submit (already in place), and then I have some jquery-ui effects on the form fields. I've tried things like:
$('#modalDiv').modal('show');
when validation returns false, or adding that to that modal's hide.bs.modal event, but it just wigs out, goes away, and leaves the backdrop in place...?
Could there be some kind of conflict between bootstrap and jquery-ui? I'm surprised there isn't a simple way of disabling modal close on form submit, but I guess I'm not the first one to get into that debate lol. Any suggestions??
I have been searching for a solution for a long time. I came up with the following "solution" I'd rather call a workaround. I removed the html form element and the used ajax for the validation.
HTML Code:
<div class="modal fade" id="addCategoryModal" role="dialog" aria-labelledby="myModalLabel">
<div class="modal-dialog" role="document">
<div class="modal-content">
<div class="modal-header">
<button type="button" class="close" data-dismiss="modal" aria-label="Close"><span aria-hidden="true">×</span></button>
<h4 class="modal-title">Add Category</h4>
</div>
<div class="modal-body">
<div class="form-group">
<label for="categoryName">Category Name*</label>
<input type="text" class="form-control" id="categoryName" placeholder="Category Name">
</div>
<div>
<button class="submit" id="addCategoryBtn">Submit</button>
</div>
</div>
<div class="modal-footer">
<div id="message-warning" style="display: none;"></div>
<div id="message-success" style="display: none;"></div>
</div>
</div><!-- /.modal-content -->
</div><!-- /.modal-dialog -->
</div><!-- /.modal -->
AJAX Code:
$( document ).ready(function() {
/* Add Category*/
$('#addCategoryBtn').click(function() {
var categoryName = $('#categoryName').val();
if (categoryName == "") {
$('#message-warning').html("Please add Category");
$('#message-warning').fadeIn();
}
else{
var data = 'categoryName=' + categoryName;
$.ajax({
type: "POST",
url: "insert.php",
data: data,
success: function(msg) {
// Category was added
if (msg == 'OK') {
$('#message-warning').hide();
$('#categoryName').val("");
$('#message-success').html("Category Added");
$('#message-success').fadeIn();
}
// There was an error
else {
$('#message-warning').html(msg);
$('#message-warning').fadeIn();
}
}
});
}
});//End Add Category
});//End Document Ready Function
I have some mobile navigation that uses a scrollTo function, that once clicked, makes my toggle function only work on the second click. It may have to do the the binding of the scrollTo click, but I can't figure out how to fix it.
HTML:
<div class="nav-bar">
<ul class="nav">
<li>Section 1</li>
<li>Section 2</li>
<li>Section 3</li>
</ul>
<a class="nav-toggle">Menu</a>
</div>
<div class="section-wrap">
<div id="section1" class="section">Section 1</div>
<div id="section2" class="section">Section 2</div>
<div id="section3" class="section">Section 3</div>
</div>
JS:
$('ul.nav a').bind('click',function(event){
$('ul.nav a').removeClass('on');
$(this).addClass('on');
var $anchor = $(this);
$('html, body').stop().animate({
scrollTop: $($anchor.attr('href')).offset().top - 30
}, 200, function() {
$('.nav-bar').removeClass('open');
});
event.preventDefault();
});
$('a.nav-toggle').toggle(function() {
$('.nav-bar').addClass('open');
}, function () {
$('.nav-bar').removeClass('open');
});
See this for a working example of the issue: http://jsfiddle.net/MhSKC/9/
At the end of your animate, you remove the open class. Then on the next click of the menu bar, the toggle function tries to remove the open class again, because that's the one of the two toggle functions that needs to execute next. Here's a slightly reworked solution:
http://jsfiddle.net/P4mtC/
$('a.nav-toggle').click(function() {
$('.nav-bar').toggleClass('open');
});
instead of using
$('a.nav-toggle').toggle(function() {
$('.nav-bar').addClass('open');
}, function () {
$('.nav-bar').removeClass('open');
});
use
$('a.nav-toggle').click(function() {
$('.nav-bar').toggleClass('open');
});
This is working:
view.html
<div><input type="radio" name="radioPriority" data-bind="checked: priority" value="want" style="margin-top: -3px; margin-right: 3px;" />I want to</div>
<div><input type="radio" name="radioPriority" data-bind="checked: priority" value="need" style="margin-top: -3px; margin-right: 3px;"/>I need to</div>
controller.js
function feedbackViewModel() {
var self = this;
self.priority = ko.observable("want");
//lots of other stuff
}
As expected, when you select the second radio the priority observable's value changes to "need". However, I'd like to use a Twitter Bootstrap button group as a radio. Here is the HTML I have, but it does not change the observable as expected:
<span class="btn-group" data-toggle="buttons-radio">
<button data-bind="checked: priority" type="button" class="btn" value="want">I want to</button>
<button data-bind="checked: priority" type="button" class="btn" value="need">I need to</button>
</span>
update I have a jsfiddle going here: http://jsfiddle.net/a8wa8/6/ "priority1" is the standard radio selects and "priority2" is the bootstrap buttons.
The issue is that you are using Checked binding with button which is not allowed, instead you can use click binding. check this fiddle:
http://jsfiddle.net/a8wa8/7/
Updated:
Yes you can achieve this by using ko css binding. Check this updated fiddle:
Updated Fiddle
The checked binding only works with "checkable" controls like checkbox (<input type='checkbox'>) or a radio button (<input type='radio'>).
But you have button in your second example where bootstrap just emulates the look of the radio button group so the checked binding doesn't work.
However you can use the click binding where you pass the value to your observable:
<span class="btn-group" data-toggle="buttons-radio">
<button data-bind="click: function() { priority2('want') }"
type="button" class="btn" value="want">I want to</button>
<button data-bind="click: function() { priority2('need') }"
type="button" class="btn" value="need">I need to</button>
</span>
And you can hide this behind a custom binding:
ko.bindingHandlers.valueClick = {
init: function(element, valueAccessor, allBindingsAccessor,
viewModel, bindingContext) {
var value = valueAccessor();
var newValueAccessor = function() {
return function() {
value(element.value);
};
};
ko.bindingHandlers.click.init(element, newValueAccessor,
allBindingsAccessor, viewModel, bindingContext);
},
}
Then you can use it like:
<span class="btn-group" data-toggle="buttons-radio">
<button data-bind="valueClick: priority2"
type="button" class="btn" value="want">I want to</button>
<button data-bind="valueClick: priority2"
type="button" class="btn" value="need">I need to</button>
</span>
Demo JSFiddle.
I have a form that I want to switch its mode and also corresponding buttons. Basically, when users open the page first, they see the form which cannot be edited. There is an "Edit" button as well. When they click the button two things will happen: 1. The form will be editable. 2. "Edit" button is hidden and another two buttons show up which are "Save" and "Cancel".
The code I have now is close but not working the way as I mentioned above. Any idea how to fix it?
html:
<div class="eq-height widget grid_4 container flat rounded-sm bspace" id="Div5">
<header class="widgetheader">

<input type="submit" value="Save" class="save edit-one-button btn lg bold ui-button ui-widget ui-state-default ui-corner-all ui-button-text-only ui-state-hover" style="border-style:Solid;"/>
<input type="submit" value="Cancel" class="cancel edit-one-button btn lg bold ui-button ui-widget ui-state-default ui-corner-all ui-button-text-only ui-state-hover" style="border-style:Solid;"/>
<fieldset id="Fieldset1" class="content form-fields">

</fieldset>
<fieldset id="Fieldset6" style="display:none"

</li></ul>
<div class="clear-both"></div>
</div>
</fieldset>
</div>
css:
.save, .cancel
{
display:none;
}
javascript:
/*script to toggle the form mode*/
<script type="text/javascript">
var divheight;
$(".edit-one-button").click(function () {
var btnname = $(this).val();
if (btnname == 'Edit') {
divheight = $('.widget').attr('style');
$(this).closest('.widget').removeAttr('style');
$(this).nextUntil('.edit-one-button').toggle();
}
else {
$(this).nextUntil('.edit-one-button').toggle();
$(this).closest('.widget').attr('style', divheight);
}
});
</script>
/*script to switch the buttons*/
<script type="text/javascript">
$('.edit').click(function () {
$(this).hide();
$(this).siblings('.save, .cancel').show();
});
$('.cancel').click(function() {
$(this).siblings('.edit').show();

$(this).hide();
});
$('.save').click(function() {
$(this).siblings('.edit').show();
$(this).siblings('.cancel').hide();
$(this).hide();
});
</script>
this is to do the exact thing as you said in top.
$(document).ready(function(){
$("#edit").click(function(){
$('#Fieldset1').hide();
$('#Fieldset6').show();
$('#edit').hide();
$('#save').show();
$('#cancel').show();
});
});
</script>
if you want me to do the rest of the cancel and save please let me know :)
