When I try to use the organize inputs in a Kotlin class, it does not add missing imports like in Java.
Specific case:
create a new Kotlin class file with the following contents:
data class Foo (
public var fileEncoding: String = StandardCharsets.UTF_8.name()
)
Eclipse complains that it can't find StandardCharsets
use organize inputs, but StandardCharsets is not added to the import statements.
I would have expected that it added the line import java.nio.charset.StandardCharsets
Update: since 0.7.0 Kotlin Eclipse plugin supports organize imports.
At present, Kotlin Eclipse plugin does not support "Organize imports" feature: KT-3962. Please feel free to upvote for this issue.
For now, you can try to invoke quick fix action (Ctrl+1) to import StandardCharsets class.

I'm having trouble using the Backendless plugin for Flutter.
I include
import 'package:backendless_sdk/backendless_sdk.dart';
(as per the instructions) and can then use e.g. Backendless.UserService. But if I try to generate a user to register, e.g.:
var user = new BackendlessUser();
user.setEmail("info#example.org");
user.setPassword("password");
Backendless.UserService.register(user);
I get an error Undefined class 'BackendlessUser' on the first line. This class is defined in src/modules/user_service.dat, which is exported by src/modules/modules.dartlike this:
library modules;
export 'cache.dart';
...
export 'user_service.dart';
which in turn is imported by backendless_sdk.dart like this:
import 'package:backendless_sdk/src/modules/modules.dart';
I would have thought that it would get imported indirectly by the import of backendless_sdk.dart, but apparently not. When I import it explicitly (with the same import statement, but now in my own code and not just indirectly in backendless_sdk.dart), I get a warning Don't import implementation files from another package. But it's not an implementation file; it's exported as part of the public API (at least that's what I understand the export statement to mean).
The Dart tutorial for creating packages suggests to place the export statements directly under lib, not in lib/src, so I'm wondering whether this is an error in the structure of the plugin, or whether I'm doing something wrong.
I'd be grateful both for a solution to this particular problem and also for pointers to how I can better understand packages, libraries, imports and exports in dart; unfortunately I don't find the language specification particularly helpful in this regard.
(The error and the warning are the same whether I use flutter analyze or IntelliJ IDEA.)
The problem has been fixed in the 0.0.3 version of the plugin. Please update the backendless_sdk version in your pubspec.yaml.
You can include the only one import now:
import 'package:backendless_sdk/backendless_sdk.dart';
Please also note, that there are some changes in the syntax. So for your example you should use:
var user = new BackendlessUser()
..email = "info#example.org"
..password = "password";
Backendless.userService.register(user);

It's indeed the problem in the structure of the plugin. The Backendless team is aware of it and this problem will be fixed in the next release of the plugin.
For now you can import explicitly and suppress the warning.
I want to clean my code structure and put class/object files in another directories in my gatling project.
If i put all simulation class and utils class in the same directory and same package i do not need an import statement and everything works fine.
Let's say my structure is as follow :
/user-files
----/simulations
--------MySimulation.scala
----/utils
--------Router.scala
I have tried several import or naming configuration to be able to use Router in my Simulation.
Follow package naming as directories structure
Put simulations and utils class in the same package
I have also tried different style of import
//using package
import packagename.Router
//another try
import packagename.Router._
//without package name
import Router._
My attempt to search a solution on scala docs or stack overflow didn't helped me.

You can't do that this way: there's one single source folder, which is by default /user-files/simulations.
If you want to use folders/packages (which is a good thing), you can have a structure such as:
/user-files
----/simulations
--------MySimulation.scala
--------/utils
------------Router.scala
Then, in Scala, packages and folder hierarchy are not related, BUT it's a good practice to use the same convention as in Java.
So, you would have:
package utils
object Router
then in MySimulation:
import utils.Router
I use eclipse as my scala ide. And I know that in java I can use short cut by content assistent to import classes. So I do not need type in the whole class name. Just need to type the first several characters.
But in scala, I can not import classes automatically. Do I need to do some set up or it is just because scala plugin do not support this.

There is Scala IDE for Eclipse however it is not very mature these days, however improving day by day. As far as I remember it can import automatically, or you can use Eclipse global fix import hotkey ctrl+shift+o.
I have a class uses the following lines, it works fine in a Google App Engine project:
import javax.jdo.annotations.IdGeneratorStrategy;
import javax.jdo.annotations.IdentityType;

But when I included this class in another project, it cause error :
package javax.jdo.annotations does not exist
What should I do to find javax.jdo.* ?
Add the JDO jar file to the class path.
The star notation for imports isn't working the way you think it does.
It's not recursive - it only applies the child classes in javax.jdo, not the child packages.
If you want all the classes in javax.jdo.annotations, you'll need to import javax.jdo.annotations.*, too.
I'd recommend not using the star notation. Better to type out the imports for every class individually. Use an IDE to help you. It's clearer for you and other programmers who come after you where those classes came from.
I want to import the entire weka.classifiers.functions package but dont want to import RBFNetwork class.

Edit: (weka.classifiers.functions) doesn't import the entire package. How do I do that?
Clojure does not provide a way to import every class in a Java package without specifying each class explicitly. See here for Rich Hickey's response to essentially the same question: http://groups.google.com/group/clojure/browse_thread/thread/fa00a0ff4c264f9a
This does not preclude you from writing code that would add this functionality, but Rich also mentions why this could be difficult (Java packages are not enumerable, so you would have to walk the classpath to know what classes are inside each package).
