Org Mode LaTeX Export - Making TODOs red - emacs

I am using Org Mode within Emacs and I am using the Export to LaTeX option. The output is fine, however I would love to show:
TODOs as red
DONEs as green
So they stand out.
Is there a way?

Modyfing the corresponding function from ox-latex.el
I copied the org-latex-format-headline-default-function from ox-latex.el to my .emacs and added the two cases TODO and DONE. I recommend not replacing the original function but putting this in your .emacs.
It will make any "TODO" containing string red, any "DONE" one green when you export to LaTeX. Make sure that you put
#+Latex_header: \usepackage{xcolor}
in your org heading.
You can just edit the string after "format" to customize it.
You can as well add more cases if you have other todo keywords.

Disable title in org latex export

Is it possible to completely disable the title, i.e. not even \title{}, when export org file to latex? I am using org mode to write paper the latex template provided by the publisher does not allow \title{} command appears before \begin{document}
I tried many solutions found online but neither of them works with the latex template I am using. Currently, I put #+BIND: org-latex-title-command " in my org file. From the source code in ox-latex, I found the following code inside org-latex-template (contents info):

My Emacs mode does not highlight keywords

I am trying to write an Emacs major mode but it is not working; specifically, my keywords are not being displayed in keyword font face. I have tried to follow the tutorials but I must be doing something wrong. I know a little Lisp but I do not know Emacs scripting.

By simply quoting the list you were not evaluating oldrope-directive-keywords-regexp - your quoted list just had that symbol as its car.
Using either backquote (`) plus comma (,) or (list (list (cons oldrope-directive-keywords-regexp 'font-lock-keyword-face))) you evaluate that variable and use its value in the resulting list.

Execute code on org-after-todo-state-change-hook on entries with specified tag

I've got some org files with content as below:

I want to switch from HOLD to INPROGRESS state on clock-in. This is easy and I got it.
Then on org-after-todo-state-change-hook I want to execute code included in entry but only on specific TAGS.
So, I got:

Unfortunately, I don't know how to write a function to execute code on specific tag or execute inline code on specific tag.
I've been trying with org-scan-tags function or org-element-map.
I can see that other people can make use of them.
But unfortunately all this Lisp stuff is like a black magic for me.
I don't know how to write function that will test tags on currently clocked task.
Could someone help me with this lisp syntax?
In theory I know which functions are required to do what I want.
In real life I don't know how to write this in lisp.
One way to match a member in a list of tags would be to use something like (member "test" tags) -- see example below where the presence of tag named test will yield a congratulations message, or a go-fish message if the tag named test is not present. You can also use a regexp to match whole words or parts of words, but that is beyond the scope of this example.
Here is a 4-step approach to test the example below.   [The example was tested by #lawlist using Org version 8.2.5c.]
(1)  Copy and paste my entire code into your .emacs file; save the file; and, restart Emacs.

Customizing org-mode exports

So, I have been using org-mode for taking my research notes for some time now. I love how I can seamlessly export to both latex (for my papers) and html (for my blog). However, whenever I define macros with \newcommand with #+LATEX_HEADER, these do not show up in the HTML export at all.
I currently handle this by putting the all these commands as
(\newcommand \newcommand etc. etc.)
at the top and then manually removing the "(" and ")" from the tex file.
What I wish I could do was to keep a drawer for these commands and customize html and latex export of org mode to handle this drawer appropriately.
For example, I would add the following in the org file:

Here's a standalone way that works with Org, pdflatex and MathJax at the time of this writing. Make sure the drawers (or at least the LATEXMACROS drawer) are exported (this is the default), then insert near the top of the Org file:

This works around the following problems:
We have to use a math environment (here \( ... \)), otherwise Org escapes the TeX syntax.
We cannot use \newcommand, because LaTeX expects them to be in the preamble and MathJaX does not receive it. \newcommand can be used outside of the preamble, but then LaTeX (unlike MathJax) restricts the defined macros to the current math environment. We usually want to use them anywhere in the file.
We cannot use a plain \def because it behaves like \newcommand in terms of scoping (global for MathJax, local for LaTeX). We cannot use \xdef either because MathJax does not know it.
MathJax does not know \global but that won't prevent it from using \def which is global anyway. However, it will print a red warning for each \global in the web page. To get rid of them, we put the math environment inside an undisplayed HTML section.
For MathJax, the macros won't be defined in time for the table of content in its default location. If you use macros in headlines and want a TOC, disable the default with #+OPTIONS: toc:nil and manually add it after the drawer with #+TOC: headlines.
Caveats:
It's not possible to preview latex fragments which use custom macros, because the small TeX file Org build won't include our environment.
Unlike \newcommand, \def silently replaces anything. Also, its syntax is slightly different.
The math environment takes up some vertical space in the output of pdflatex, so we have to put it where that doesn't matter (e.g. before the first headline).
This is probably really version dependent:
Org mode may get better at exporting LaTeX macros (e.g. sending them to MathJax by being smarter when parsing #+LATEX_HEADER, providing a new export option, not escaping \newcommand and putting those into a correctly handled preamble).
MathJax may start accepting \xdef as an alias of \def or ignoring \global (so that the HTML section trick is not needed anymore).
I figured out how to do it myself. Note that this is perhaps not the most elegant solution since it does not place the latex part in the beginning of the latex file (i.e. outside \begin{document}), but it works well enough for me.

An empty block-macro dynamic block
You can change the name of the source block, and use a :from <custom-name> header argument in the dynamic block. Also, note the :exports none in the source block (usually you don't want to export the LaTeX source).

Interactively enter headline under which to place an entry using capture

Using capture templates like the one below, I can add entries to different headlines in a file. How can I manually enter a headline during capture, instead of setting up each headline to a key in the .emacs file like I am now doing?

It looks like, in newer versions of org at least, that custom functions can be used in capture templates to do this.
Instead of:

You can use:

Where 'function-finding-location' is a custom function you have written yourself, which could easily prompt you for a headline.
Or, you can go even farther, and define a custom function which will prompt for both file name and headline name (or anything else you can dream up):

I wrote a function to be used with file+function which will prompt for a location on capture.
It uses the internal prompting function of org-refile so we get completions of headings in the prompt (with maxlevels overridden to 9). When the user enters an unknown heading, it creates it at the end of the file.

I don't believe you can have it prompt for the headline on capture. You can however refile from within the capture window which should result in the desired behaviour.
I would define a catch-all target headline/file so that if you forget you will always collect them in the same location and then just have to refile them once created. If you also set a category/tag on this headline you will be able to easily see the misfiled capture entry and refile it as desired. (Example below)
Then instead of finishing with C-c C-c choose to refile with C-c C-w and you will be asked to select the headline you want to send the new entry to.

I currently tend to use tags as reference if I'm waiting for coworkers/managers to deal with the ticket, or to remind me to speak to them about it when I see them so the tag at the end stands out clearly, as does Unsorted if I'm trying to remember what the issue is (since I simply have a case number and user name showing, details within the entry).
while capturing a note, after finishing writeup press C-u C-c C-w to refile under desired new headline.
you also need to set this variable
