I am using the ActivePerl-5.20.2.2002-MSWin32-x86-64int-299195 version.
After installation of above version sw I am unable to open the Perl Package Manager. which much needfulll.
further ActivePerl-5.22.1.2201-MSWin32-x64-299574
but after installation same result.
I try to debug this..
i got few few old reference but which not that much helped me to solve this problem.
I am using windows 7 64 bit system
Also set env as HTTP_proxy to "http://proxy:8080"
and
HTTP_proxy_user ; HTTP_proxy_pass as mine admin username & password.

but still situation remain as it is.

Same problem. I solved it, I cleanned AppData folder of ActivePerl.
C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Local\ActiveState\ActivePerl\
Delete all data from that folder. Rerun ppm everything works fine now!

gtk+ without msys2 mingw

On Windows, trying something with gtk+. I have downloaded Msys2, along with gtk+3.0.
Successfully compiled all the gtk+3.0 examples in the msys2 mingw-w64 terminal.
Now I want to move a bit further to try work without the msys environment.
I opened up cmd and navigated to where the example executables are compiled. Then I fired them up by typing "example.exe".
libgio-2.0-0.dll missing, not surprised. I go back to check the PATH environment of the msys environment, PATH=/mingw64/bin/:/usr/local/bin:/usr/bin/:/bin:/c/Windows/System32:..blablabla
So in the cmd environment I did set PATH=%PATH%;pathto/mingw64/bin; and run example.exe again.
This time it gave a very strange error cannot find entrypoint inflateValidate (in dll libpng16-16.dll)
So I checked, indeed there was no inflateValidate function in the dll. it seemed to me that something thought the function is in the dll and tried to call it but because it doesn't exist so it failed. What I don't understand is that why did it not fail in the msys environment but failed in the windows environment. And does that bring any impact to me if I am going to ship any gtk application? I thought simply distributing the relevant dll would be enough.
I have tried instead of adding the mingw64/bin path to the PATH variable, but copying the required dll the the execute location 1 by 1, but at the end it still gave the same error.
I have also tried to search for other libpng*.dll in my computer, none of them contained the inflateValidate function.
If anyone know whats going on please shed some light to the question.
I might be very late to the party but I ran into the same issue yesterday (missing the inflateValidate symbol) and after checking the contents of the zlib1.dll file could ascertain that the function is just not there.
I downloaded another version (specifically this one https://sourceforge.net/projects/uqm-mods/files/latest/download, though I am in no way affiliated to this project) and saw that the inflateValidate symbol was indeed declared, so I suppose that the zlib bundled with your files is not up to date with the libpng requirements.
This solved my problem. I hope it solves yours too.

pgadmin4 : postgresql application server could not be contacted.

I have installed PostgreSQL 9.6.2 on my Windows 8.1. But the pgadmin4 is not able to contact the local server. I have tried several solutions suggested here in stackoverflow, tried to uninstall and reinstall PostgreSQL 9.6.2 , tried to modify the config.py, config_distro.py, and delete the files in Roaming folder,i tried standalone pgadmin4 installation, but no success.However, in my local machine i am able to access the server using psql.exe and log as as superuser (postgres user). Can you please suggest any possible solutions to starting/running pgadmin4 ? Thank you.
I found the same issue when upgrading to pgAdmin 4 (v1.6). On Windows I found that clearing out the content inside C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Roaming\pgAdmin\sessions folder fixed the issue for me. I believe it was attempting to use the sessions from the prior version and was failing. I know the question was marked as answered, but downgrading may not always be an option.
Note: AppData\Roaming\pgAdmin is a hidden folder.
Start pgAdmin 4 as administrator.
Do the following steps:
Right click pgAdmin 4 icon
Select "Run As Administrator"
I had the same issue on Windows 10, with a new installation of PostgreSQL 10.
I solved it by including the path C:\PostgreSQL\10\bin ({your path to postgresql}\bin) to system environment variables.
To access environment variables: Control Panel > System and security > System or right click on PC, then > Advance system settings > Environment variables > System variables > Path > Edit.
I've been dealing with this for awhile (frustrating). So much that I have instructions on my desktop consolidating all of these ideas. Here is my magic combination to the solution:
Delete from App Data C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Roaming\pgAdmin
Add to Path Variables C:\Program Files\PostgreSQL\9.6\bin (I actually added it to both user and system)
Right click and start as admin.
You don't have to do this every time but when it gets out of wack try these steps.
What finally worked was downgrading to pgadminIII-v.1.22:
It seems in most of the cases Postgres trying to use information from previous sessions to find/connect the server and failing. Clearing out the previous session info helped me, it is a combination of 2 already mentioned answers above:
Navigate to Postgres session's folder
C:\Users\YourUsernameOrAdmin\AppData\Roaming\pgAdmin\sessions
Delete all the data from this folder.
Start PgAdmin in administrator mode.

if you are using Mac OS X here is a fix:
Open terminal and run this command
pg_ctl -D /usr/local/var/postgres -l /usr/local/var/postgres/server.log restart
and for other OS just restart your Postgresql server, it will solve
Then start pgAdmin4, it will start as normal

Deleting the contents of C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Roaming\pgAdmin directory worked for me!
I had same issue on windows. I had v1.6 installed as well as v2.0. Uninstalling v1.6 allowed me to login.
I had the same problem, but running it as an admin worked.
Have you recently installed a new version of pgAdmin ?
This issue (and the misleading message) is simply due to the fact that old versions of pgAdmin are unable to read the settings saved by a newer version of pgAdmin !
Make sure you're starting the right version of pgAdmin (your shortcuts are likely to point to the old version !) and/or uninstall the old version: the upgrade wizard doesn't do it for you !
Deleting contents of folder C:\Users\User_Name\AppData\Roaming\pgAdmin\sessions helped me, I was able to start and load the pgAdmin server
I had the same issue on the macosx and I renamed .pgadmin (in /users/costa) to .pgadminx and I was able to start pgAdmin4.
In Windows Just go to this path and clear it

I was able to solve the problem by changing the pgAdmin web interface port.
I believe this problem occurred on my computer because I have several other services consuming webs ports like qBittorrent, IDEJetbrains, etc.
Right-clicking on the pgAdmin logo near the clock is possible to configure it.
I Fixed it in windows 10 just running pgAdmin 4 as Run as Administrator .
If you use older postgresql version like 9.x and its services is running,PgAdmin 4 confused which server is base database.
So stop the service older version or new one.Run PgAdmin 4 as Administrator

This is often a firewall problem. The firewall log then shows dropped packets between 127.0.0.1: and 127.0.0.1:, where the latter is the port shown in the Browser to get no connection with. This means, that the connection between pgAdmin client (high_port_1) and pgAdmin server (high_port_2) is blocked. Check your firewall log and if you find dropped packets like described, adapt your firewall settings accordingly.
If none of the methods help try checking your system and user environments PATH and PYTHONPATH variables.
I was getting this error due to my PATH variable was pointing to different Python installation (which comes from ArcGIS Desktop).
After removing path to my Python installation from PATH variable and completely removing PYTHONPATH variable, I got it working!
Keep in mind that python command will not be available from command line if you remove it from PATH.
I use the cmd prompt on Windows 10 with psql postgres postgres.
Then I launch pgAdmin4 and it works.

Solved by installing a missing dependency:
python3-flask-babelex
Just click on that pgadmin 4 icon and run as administrator. Allow the access permissions. It will start locally.
I need to add this here because I've had several issues with this message. If you have recently upgraded to High Sierra you will find the latest (pgadmin 4.20) will keep appearing with the message "Application Server Could Not be Contacted". What this actually means on Macs is that python was unable to configure your environment in ~/.pgadmin
This directory stores all the things you setup and configure and even logs of what was ran on your user copy usage of pgadmin.
The way to fix this issue on High Sierra is down to sqlite3. If you look in that directory you'll see everything is stored in sqlite3 files.
When version 4.20 of pgadmin was released it was shipped with a version later than sqlite3.19 and the problem arises because High Sierra is shipped with sqlite3.19, so to fix this issue, you need to replace the old version of sqlite3 with the latest on your packager.
Now be aware, MacosX+ all use sqlite to store details for the majority of apps on your mac, so you'll need to make sure you do not just wipe the old version but you'll have to have both versions co-existing together in harmony to avoid anything major occurring on your mac.
1) download brew https://brew.sh/
2) update brew and upgrade brew to make sure it's up-to-date
3) brew install sqlite3
4) mv /usr/bin/sqlite3 /usr/bin/sqlite3.os
5) ln -s /usr/local/Cellar/sqlite/3.21.0/bin/sqlite3 /usr/bin/sqlite3
6) /usr/bin/sqlite3 -version (check version is later than 3.19)
You can now proceed to open up pgadmin as normal
Got this issue after I upgraded PostgreSQL 9.4 to 9.6. The 9.4 binary package had PgAdmin 3 while 9.6 came with PgAdmin 4. I resolved it after a clean installation (I completely uninstalled and reinstalled) of PostgreSQL.
However, under different circumstances, you could try running the pgAdmin 4 application as an Administrator. This should fix the error.
downloaded pgadmin 4 v2.0 and install it no problem atm on force installation. try it. that was solution for me.
For my case in Windows 10 for postgresql 10 version, it worked by changing SERVER_MODE to False in config_distro.py placed in web folder, as per these configuration settings: https://www.pgadmin.org/docs/pgadmin4/dev/desktop_deployment.html.
There are other settings mentioned in this answer (https://superuser.com/a/1131964) regarding python but I just changed SERVER_MODE and it worked.
Kill it in Windows Task Manager and then try again. It seems that there is some sort of a problem when accessing the server from different applications.
As for me on windows 2012r2 it's start to work only after I reinstall pgAdmin 4 to folder c:\pgAdmin4. With out spaces and any special chars.
And all so I give full permission to this folder in NTFS.
It worked for me after installing python2.7 for pgAdmin 4 v2
Happens mostly when you have multiple versions of pgadmin installed or while trying to upgrade. Even I tried everything from killing the "running PID on port 5432" to "changing the server mode". In my case I uninstall postgres and re-install it again on different port(5433).
Later, I opened it through cmd(right click on cmd and select "run cmd as an Administrator").

Magento 2 can not log into Admin after fresh install

I have successfully installed a Centos Vagrant box with Magestead (http://www.magestead.com/). This worked and I was able to log into the Admin section without any issues.
However, I am more comfortable using Ubuntu, so I created a new vagrant box using Ubuntu. I set it up as per the documentation and installed Magento without any issues. I have set up the correct file permissions etc. However, when I try and access the admin section, I receive the following error. The front pages work fine btw.

I have tried clearing the pub/static folder, cleared the various var/ directories as suggested in other posts etc.
Thinking it might be an issues with the vagrant shared folders. I started again and this time installed Magento on a folder inside the vagrant box (not on the folder share). This was a lot quicker so I hoped that this might have been the reason. Alas, this did not solve my problem and I still receive the same error.
I have tried the composer install and the manual compressed download install but I have the same error on both.
Looking at the location of the missing file, I can confirm that the file is not there. When I look at the Centos box, this file is there. If I remove the folder on the Centos box (var/www/html/magento2/var/cache/), the file gets created as expected and works fine. This does not happen with the Ubuntu box, however some of the mage---ea6 files are created so it's doing it stuff.
Does anyone have any ideas?
So I figured it out after some testing.
It turned out to be xDebug (or the way I was installing it) that was causing the issue. I ran some tests and the admin areas worked fine with xDebug not installed.
I needed Xdebug for development reasons so I installed it using Pear and Magento installed fine with everything working correctly!

Error talking to the Parse servers;please try again Windows 7

I'm using 64 bit Windows 7. I have downloaded the latest version of Parse.exe and ParseConsole.exe into a folder. When I run ParseConsole.exe and key in parse new command I'm getting this error:
Error talking to the parse servers;please try again
When I key in the command parse help I'm getting info.
Am I missing something? Do I need to install any other plugins? How should I get it to run without errors?
I also struggled a lot facing the same issue.
I was however able to solve the same.
Download the CLI from the website.
Go here and check if you have same version of parse.exe as downloaded or else replace the older one with this.
copy both of the files ( parse.exe and parseconsole.exe) into c:\windows\system32 for 32 bit operating system and into c:\windows\syswow64 for 64 bit operating system
open windows power shell and run it as administrator , test all your commands.
It should be working fine now :)

Eclipse executable launcher error: Unable to locate companion shared library

I had Eclipse Indigo installed on my computer with the Android plugin and it was working perfectly for about two weeks. Today, I updated java and quicktime then restarted my computer. When it booted back up, eclipse had completely vanished - all the program files have completely disappeared. When I try to reinstall it, I get an error message that says
The Eclipse executable launcher was unable to locate its companion shared library.
What happened and how can I fix it?
I've just encountered the same issue. The problem for me was Windows 7 default unzipper program. It has a problem when it encounters files that have a deep file structure. I read about this issue some time ago but can't recall the article. Fix for me is to unzip the Eclipse download using WinZip (or some other tool which does'nt have this issue).
Check eclipse.ini, there are two entries like:
-startup
plugins/org.eclipse.equinox.launcher_1.3.0.v20120522-1813.jar
--launcher.library
plugins/org.eclipse.equinox.launcher.gtk.linux.x86_64_1.1.200.v20120913-144807
For some twisted reason jars have version in their name - so if you upgrade/have two different version of eclipse( while eclipse.ini is either linked or provided as system wide conf file for eclipse ) it will cause above error.
That sounds pretty bad and weird. But reinstalling isn't that hard - download, unzip, change the default memory allocation, run Eclipse, install necessary plugins and features.
And almost all of the important preferences are in your workspace. The only important one I can think of outside of the workspace is the aforementioned memory allocation, which you can set on the command line or in the ECLIPSE.INI file.
During unzip in a cygwin directory on Win7, .exe and .dll need to be given executable mode. This is the solution from a mintty (or other $TERM) terminal run with cygwin on windows 7:
me#mymachine ~/eclipse
$ find . -name "*.dll" -exec chmod +x {} \;
tried with Juno (eclipse 4.2) freshly unzipped, cygwin 1.7.something
I have seen this in MacOS Sierra. Sometimes unzipping the app leaves extended attributes that seem to prevent the startup. The following command line removes extended attributes and seems to fix the problem:
xattr -c Eclipse.app
It also works for other applications that are built on the eclipse framework.
Another problem (that I ran into) is that Cygwin's unzip utility (UnZip 6.00 of 20 April 2009, by Cygwin. Original by Info-ZIP.) does not always correctly unzip everything needed for Eclipse to actually run.
Using 7ZIP v9.20 got Eclipse Indigo (3.7.2) up and running for me on Win7 64bit with 32bit JVM and 32bit Eclipse.
(First time I've ever had Cygwin's unzip fail on me...)
I just ran into this myself and found that, indeed, as one post above stated: using cygwin and gunzip or unzip to set up your eclipse environment the permissions on the .exe and .dll files will be incorrect and the JVM will not run them properly.
Quick solution:
#switch to the eclipse target folder
cd /cygdrive/c/Program\ Files\ \(x86\) #or wherever you put eclipse
find ./ -regextype posix-extended -mindepth 1 -type f -regex ".*\.exe|.*\.dll" |\
xargs chmod -v 750
I meet this issue after copy a eclipse installation to another pc.I find the eclipse installation auto created the .p2 directory on my c:\Users\xx.p2, and --launcher.library refer to here.So it doesn't exist on my another pc.
My resolution is to reinstall eclipse:
a)Double click eclipse-inst-win64.exe
b)Click to change to advanced mode.
c)Uncheck the Bundle Pool
d)Finish your installation and copy again.Everything will work well.
My experience and advice: Install Eclipse Juno on C: drive.
After download the zip, put it on C:, click the right mouse button -> extract here. Then a folder called eclipse will be created in C: drive.
Then go to Eclipse executable, run it, and all will be ok.
I faced this problem and solved it by running Eclipse as admin.
Problem happened when I unzipped using Cygwin. Used the Windows XP standard unzip program and it worked.
if you are having two eclipse then sometime this happens
you only have to remove
-startup
plugins\org.eclipse.equinox.launcher_1.0.100.v20080509-1800.jar
from eclipse.ini file beside eclipse.exe(Launcher)

The gist is: Try unzipping it again with a solid unzip tool. Sometimes unzipping goes wrong, especially with the built-in Windows Explorer tool.
i have this error message when i use extract the files as follows:
action\select all
drag and drow the files to an new folder
Somehow information about the folders get lost
when i use "action\extract to..." it works.
Also, remember to right click on eclipse, then choose Security Unblock
Mostly this is related to problems on windows with the unzipping it seems. (See other answers here for that).
The second largest issue seems to be that eclipse is not able to find java or finds a java version which is too old or even older eclipse installations.
Here's another take to the latter problem and a small twist to solve it. My work environment is on a linux system, without root access, and with software installations where I can configure which versions to use in a kind of config file. However I have no influence on the way those software packages are installed and they are immutable to me.
I download and untar the latest eclipse as usual to a user disk for which I have write permissions. Then I configure myself an alias to always temporarily cd into the eclipse installation when starting. That regardless of where I work on the file systems, eclipse always finds its correct libraries. It seems in some places, eclipses default search path for java digs out an installation (of java or older eclipses or sth else) in my environment that it really should not use.
Here's the alias:
alias eclipse '(pushd /enter_path_to_eclipse_install_dir_here/eclipse ; ./eclipse ; popd)'
Now you can start it normally from e.g. your project or arbitrary work directory:
eclipse
Or also put it in the background
eclipse &
Maybe this helps for people in convoluted work environments.
Try running eclipse.exe as administrator or using Eclipse Helios.
I have copied the Eclipse folder from another machine where the path was different and that was the root of this problem. Changing the plugins path in ECLIPSE.INI worked for me !!

I had the same problem when I was trying to install it on Windows 8.
But it was an zip composed file....
Ones I unzip and Run "eclipes.exe" file as run As 'Administrator' it was resolved.
Now I am enjoying it very well.
I had the same message after a system restore with the eclipse folder (V. 3/2020) being located on a second drive (that was NOT restored at the same time, I use it for large files mainly).
Restoring the faulty installations C:\Users<user>.p2 folder to the new installation (referenced in eclipse.ini of the eclipse folder) worked.
Keep shorter folder name, fixed for me.
I faced this issue recently: (In my case it was installation of STM32CubeMX software):
what I faced: I have two users in my laptop, I had installed the software in one user but on the hard disk partition: D:\
Now I had tried to work on another user!

So as I was working on the 'other' user account, I got this error every time I tried to compile/build my project - obviously, Because I installed using one user and am working on another.
Workaround: Already mentioned in the above answers clearly!
What I did differently: I tried using the S/W in the other user, but there seems to be issues on the path file/location:
so I reinstalled the location in the user account I want to use and am running it properly now!
Note: While Installing it did ask about installing the software for all user/ current user : I mistakenly had given 'current - user' =(
I also faced ths problem, I just deleted the extracted file and extracted it again.
I have a .rar file.
This problem occurs when the file is not extracted completely.
You might changed your drive-letter:
once u had installed eclipse on D:\, after windows reinstall the drive-letter is now E:\ (for example).
look into eclipse.ini in your eclipse folder, there are some lines where the drive-letter is still D:\
This happened to me when I tried to open eclipse.exe before the .zip file finished extracting. Make sure all dependencies are unzipped or unpacked before opening the .exe.
I had this issue on Linux (CentOS 7 64 bit) with 32-bit Eclipse Neon and 32-bit JRE 8. Non of the answers here or in similar questions were helpful, so I thought it can help someone.
Equinox launcher (eclipse executable) is reading the plugins/ directory and then searches for eclipse_xxxx.so/dll in org.eclipse.equinox.launcher.<os>_<version>/. Typically, the problem is in eclipse.ini pointing to the wrong version of Equinox launcher plugin. But, if the file system uses 64-bit inodes, such as XFS and one of the files gets inode number above 4294967296, then the launcher fails reading the plugins/ directory and this error message pops up. Use ls -li <eclipse>/plugins/ to check the inode numbers.
In my case, moving to another mount with 32-bit inodes resolved the problem.

I encountered this error with the Eclipse 4.10 installer. We had failed to complete the install correctly due to platform security settings and attempted to uninstall but had to do it by hand since no uninstaller was introduced during the failed install. We suspected this corrupted the end result - even after re-installing.
The solution was to use the JVM to launch Eclipse and bypass the launcher executable entirely. The following command successfully launches Eclipse 4.10 (some parameters will change based on the version of Eclipse):
%JDK190%\bin\javaw.exe -jar C:\<fully_qualified_path_to_eclipse>\Eclipse410\plugins\org.eclipse.equinox.launcher_1.5.200.v20180922-1751.jar -clean -showsplash
After using this command/shortcut to launch Eclipse we had no further errors with Eclipse itself but we weren't able to use the EXE launcher in the future. Even after a year of using this version, the launcher continues to display this same error.
To be clear, you'll have to modify your javaw.exe command to match your system specifications on MS Windows.
I got similar error sometime back. I had copied the eclipse setup from another laptop to mine. The issue with my setup was that path of the "--launcher.library" in the eclipse.ini file. The path in --launcher.library was that of the old machine and hence I was getting the error
I changed the path of "--launcher.library" in eclipse.ini to the path of eclipse on my laptop and the issue got resolved. I hope this is helpful to someone is getting this error.

Solution : You might changed your drive for example
C:\Demo.exe to D:\Demo.exe
Step 1 : First Copy/Cut your .exe file like C:\Demo.exe
Step 2 : After Paste another drive like D:\Demo.exe
After executable file launching successfully.
