Im new to chef and trying to understand why this code does not return any error while if i do the same with 'start' i will get an error for such service does not exist.
service 'non-existing-service' do
action :stop
end
# chef-apply test.rb
Recipe: (chef-apply cookbook)::(chef-apply recipe)
* service[non-existing-service] action stop (up to date)
Don't know which plattform you are running on if you are running on Windows it should at least log
Chef::Log.debug "#{#new_resource} does not exist - nothing to do"
given that you have debug as log level.
You could argue this is the wrong behaviour, but if the service dose not exist it for sure isen't running.

If you are getting one of the variants of the init.d provider, they default to getting the current status of a service by grepping the process table. Because Chef does its own idempotence checks internally before calling the provider's stop method, it would see there is no such process in the table and assume it was already stopped.

I recently updated our CDK code to move our OpenSearch cluster from version 1.3 to 2.3. The cluster itself seems to have upgraded to a healthy state and is still accessible / usable by our application, but CloudFormation failed when attempting to update our domain resource with:
Resource handler returned message: "Resource handler returned message: "Invalid request provided: DP Nodes are OOS, Tags operation is not allowed"
This kicked the stack into UPDATE_ROLLBACK_FAILED, which is not allowed. The cluster cannot be downgraded back to 1.3.
I'm struggling to find any information about this error it's kicking out and not quite sure how to resolve it to unblock the CloudFormation stack.
Things I have tried:
Digging through CloudWatch logs only revealed information pertaining to queries.
Forcing the rollback to occur without Domain resource. This got me back to an UPDATE_COMPLETE state, but each subsequent deploy of this stack will cause it to fail again since the core issue is not resolved.
This was an odd presentation of a permissions issue. As I was reading through some docs, I stumbled upon this section, which discusses changes to tag-based access control.
This lead me start looking into CloudTrail a bit and stumbled upon the exact error that was firing when this deploy happened. It was a little odd because the assumed role granted admin access to CloudFormation, but the last line of this event record caught my eye:
"sourceIPAddress": "cloudformation.amazonaws.com",
"userAgent": "cloudformation.amazonaws.com",
"errorCode": "ValidationException",
"errorMessage": "DP Nodes are OOS, Tags operation is not allowed",
"eventSource": "es.amazonaws.com",
Upon adding es.amazonaws.com to the trust relationship of that role, the deploy fully re-ran successfully.
Hopefully this helps someone else.
I am writing restful API with Yii, but I am getting an SQL error in create function. My purpose is to add new data to the news table, but it asks me for the author_id. How can I do it without crushing the default create method?
Solution 1. Run this below query on mysql/phpmyadmin and restart server
SET GLOBAL sql_mode = 'NO_ENGINE_SUBSTITUTION';
Solution 2.
Open the my.ini or my.cnf file for editing (the file you have depends on whether you are running Windows or Linux).
Find the following line:
sql_mode = "STRICT_TRANS_TABLES,NO_AUTO_CREATE_USER,NO_ENGINE_SUBSTITUTION"
Replace it with the line below:
If the line is not found, insert the line under the [mysqld] section (if there is no [mysqld] section, create it).
sql_mode= ""
Restart the MySQL service for the change to take effect.
If restarting is not a feasible option at the moment, you may log into the database server and execute the below command for the changes to take effect immediately. However, the change will be discarded the next time the MySQL service restarts unless the above process is performed.
set global sql_mode='';
I'm using Capistrano 3.
I want to trigger a webhook to a external service, when my deployment fails.
It's a matter of calling a method I have already defined, let's say it's called mark_failed.
How I can ensure the method is always called when the deployment fails, for whatever reason, except aborting it via CTRL+C ?
Tried fiddling around with
rescue SystemExit, Interrupt and rescue StandardError
I have no clue where to put my method call the way it will be called reliably.
Any clues ?
I would suggest using at_exit.
at_exit do
mark_failed if $!
end
raise "Something is wrong!"
The problem I'm having is with this code:
if (!MessageQueue.Exists(QueueName))
{
MessageQueue.Create(QueueName, true);
}
It will check if a queue exists; if it doesn't I want it to create the queue. This code has been working and hasn't changed for a few months. Today I started receiving this error:
[MessageQueueException (0x80004005): A queue with the same path name
already exists.] System.Messaging.MessageQueue.Create(String path,
Boolean transactional) +239478
The queues are local and if I delete the specific queue it will work once. After the queue is created it starts to fail again with the same error message.
It looks like the issue may be because of the Network Load Balancing (NLB) configuration. I was unaware of a change that recently put the machine in a NLB environment. The configuration we are using is an unsupported one.
More information is in How Message Queuing can function over Network Load Balancing (NLB).
We're using Farcry CMS which runs on top of ColdFusion. Site was running fine but we are getting this error message after a web server reboot.
"Failed to initialise core type: dmHTML.cfc"
"Parameter 1 of function IsDefined, which is now application.stcoapi.dmHTML.stWebskins.Copy of displayPageCalculatorSelector.displayname, must be a syntactically valid variable name."
Really not sure where to start, could anyone suggest a strategy for troubleshooting this type of error.
Looks like you have a file called "Copy of displayPageCalculatorSelector.cfm" in your dmHTML webskin folder.
Remove this file is the best option.
Or rename it and remove the spaces, e.g. "Copy_of_displayPageCalculatorSelector.cfm"
