I have a general question regarding the setup for a "bot" in the Facebook Messenger Platform.
If I understand the architecture right, I can create an App as a developer add the Messenger function and associate 1 Page with the Messenger function.
Does this mean I need an app for each page ?
Or could I crete a "bot backend" serving multiple / different pages from different users ?
Yes, you can have one robot serving multiple pages. You just have to set <token> for different pages in API call, here is setup for a page. From documentation:
Graph API requires Page access tokens to manage Facebook Pages. They are unique to each Page, admin and app and have an expiration time.
Fritak is correct. You can use one app for multiple pages. For each page you will have to subscribe the app to that page and generate a page access token specifically for that page. At your webhook, you'll have to distinguish the callbacks for the specific page.
When you receive a request, you need to map the incoming page id to the access token as described in this answer: How can I use the same bot on multiple facebook pages using bot framework
app.post('/webhook', (req, res) => {
const data = req.body
// Make sure this is a page subscription
if (data.object === 'page') {
// Iterate over each entry
data.entry.forEach((pageEntry) => {
// get the pageId
const pageId = pageEntry.id
...
const accessTokens = {
myPageId1: 'myPageAccessToken1',
myPageId2: 'myPageAccessToken2',
}
const callSendAPI = (pageId, messageData) =>
rp({
uri: 'https://graph.facebook.com/v2.8/me/messages',
qs: { access_token: accessTokens[pageId] },
method: 'POST',
body: messageData,
json: true,
})

I am attempting to use the snapkit login web api for a hybrid application. I have successfully been able to intercept the access token in the redirectURL. I was wondering if there was a way to get the users Bitmoji using this access_token and either the functions found in login.js or an http get call?
Api docs: https://docs.snapchat.com/docs/login-kit/#web
currently I have the access_token in a deeplinking function on my app.component.ts . I have attempted to push to a new page with the navController and passing in the access_token as a parameter, but this doesn't help when attempting to get the users information.
Thanks in advance for your help.
Here is the Deeplinking where I intercept the access_token using myapp://settings-set/ as the URL redirect and attempt to push a new page with the matching url.
platform.ready().then(() => {
// Okay, so the platform is ready and our plugins are available.
// Here you can do any higher level native things you might need.
statusBar.styleDefault();
splashScreen.hide();
this.deeplinks.routeWithNavController(this.nav,{
'/settings-set/:token': SettingsSetPage
}).subscribe((match) => {
// match.$route - the route we matched, which is the matched entry from the arguments to route()
// match.$args - the args passed in the link
// match.$link - the full link data
this.nav.push(SettingsSetPage, {
args: match
});
console.log('Successfully matched route', match.$args);
},
(nomatch) => {
// nomatch.$link - the full link data
console.error('Got a deeplink that didn\'t match', nomatch);
});
});
}
In the setting-set page I recieve the parameter using:
this.args = navParams.get('args');
console.log("this is args", JSON.stringify(this.args));
but don't know how to use the information to get the users information
The Bitmoji API can be very confusing at times. I suggest using Passport, a Node JS tool for OAuth, along with the Ionic framework. Snapchat has a guide that explains how to grab specific fields, such as user name and Bitmoji avatar, from a user's Snapchat profile using passport. You can follow this tutorial to learn how to integrate Node JS into your existing ionic app.
So in conclusion, try following these steps:
Integrate Node JS into your existing ionic app
Install Passport and follow Snapchat's guide for obtaining specific fields from the user's profile
Yes, like Mora said you can use passport which will make your life easier. We also have a sample passport app running here:
From the context you provided it seems like you have generated the code and not the access_token. After you get the code from the redirect url, you need to use the code to generate the access token. Check section 2.5 here.
Once you have the access token you can use that to request information. The crux of this lies in setting the "scope" correctly. To get the Bitmoji avatar make sure you set your scope to this at the very least:
var scope = ['https://auth.snapchat.com/oauth2/api/user.bitmoji.avatar'];
Hope this helps!
I'm new to creating extensions so please bear with me.I'm trying to create an extension that shares the current page URL via Facebook. I followed the instructions Facebook developers site and created a project but i don't know what to put up as the app domain because local host works but chrome-extension://"id" doesn't.
On clicking share button, Error appears"Can't Load URL: The domain of this URL isn't included in the app's domains. To be able to load this URL, add all domains and subdomains of your app to the App Domains field in your app settings."
What do I put as the app domain and url?
I had the same problem. This is my solution:
Turn on Embedded Browser OAuth Login in facebook login settings (https://developers.facebook.com/apps/ -> choose your app -> Add product)
Implement manually login flow (https://developers.facebook.com/docs/facebook-login/manually-build-a-login-flow). Open oauth url in new tab, listen on changes and than when tab update to success page get from url access token, save token to storage and remove tab.
User facebook graph api (https://developers.facebook.com/docs/graph-api)
Use chrome.identity api to avoid protocol issue. It's looks like:
let options = {
interactive: true,
url: 'https://www.facebook.com/dialog/oauth?' +
stringifyQuery(Object.assign({
app_id: 'your app id here',
redirect_uri: `https://${chrome.runtime.id}.chromiumapp.org/provider_cb`,
response_type: 'token',
access_type: 'online',
}))
};
chrome.identity.launchWebAuthFlow(options, function (redirectUri) {
if (chrome.runtime.lastError) {
callback(new Error((chrome.runtime.lastError as string)));
return;
}
const response = parseUrl(redirectUri);
access_token = response[`#access_token`];
callback(null, access_token);
});
I've migrated from Azure Mobile Service to an App Service but I'm having difficulty working out how best to implement extended Facebook auth.
In my old implementation I inherited from FacebookLoginProvider and fetched the token from the claims. I then added the CustomFacebookLoginProvider to my login providers. I then use the token to fetch more information about the user (their date of birth, friends and gender). With this information I created a user object and saved it to my DB.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how best to recreate this in App Service as I can't find any documentation.
As far as how to set up Facebook authentication, you can find documentation here (and it sounds like you've already figured out this much):
https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/documentation/articles/app-service-mobile-how-to-configure-facebook-authentication/
Now that Facebook authentication is set up, you can refer to the following which shows how to obtain user information:
https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/documentation/articles/app-service-mobile-dotnet-backend-how-to-use-server-sdk/#user-info
// Get the credentials for the logged-in user.
var credentials =
await this.User
.GetAppServiceIdentityAsync<FacebookCredentials>(this.Request);
if (credentials.Provider == "Facebook")
{
// Create a query string with the Facebook access token.
var fbRequestUrl = "https://graph.facebook.com/me?access_token="
+ credentials.AccessToken;
// Create an HttpClient request.
using (var client = new System.Net.Http.HttpClient())
{
// Request the current user info from Facebook.
using (var resp = await client.GetAsync(fbRequestUrl))
{
resp.EnsureSuccessStatusCode();
// Do something here with the Facebook user information.
var fbInfo = await resp.Content.ReadAsStringAsync();
}
}
}
Note that you must add a using statement for System.Security.Principal to make the GetAppServiceIdentityAsync extension method work.
For more information on which Facebook user properties you can query, see the Facebook documentation here: https://developers.facebook.com/docs/graph-api/reference/user. Note that you may need to specify which user properties you want as an additional fields query string parameter on your call to the Facebook graph.
The only change I had to make when switching from Mobile Service to Mobile App was to change the end of the callback URL in the developer portal to use /.auth/login/facebook/callback instead of /signin-facebook and it worked exactly the same way as before.
Note that this is for a Windows app with a .NET backend; you didn't specify what you're using so your mileage may vary.
I've been using the following approach to obtain the Facebook Access Token in the iOS app.
App Services includes the Facebook Access Token in the request header, refer to https://azure.microsoft.com/en-in/documentation/articles/app-service-api-authentication/.
To get to the access token, create a Custom API in the Azure Portal, e.g. facebookUserInfo, with the following code:
module.exports = {
"get": function (request, response, next) {
response.send(200, { facebookAccessToken: request.headers['x-ms-token-facebook-access-token'] });
}};
In the iOS app, use the following code to query the custom API:
let client = self.table!.client
if client.currentUser != nil {
client.invokeAPI("facebookUserInfo", body: nil, HTTPMethod: "GET", parameters: nil, headers: nil, completion: { (result, response, error) -> Void in
if let resultDict = result {
if let facebookAccessToken = resultDict["facebookAccessToken"]! {
print(facebookAccessToken)
}
}
}
}
By Using the Easy Auth feature of Azure App Services, I dont need to worry about authentication.
I have a blogpost on this. I have explained on how we can use the FB GraphApi's to query FB data. Here is the link: https://blogs.msdn.microsoft.com/kaushal/2017/06/08/using-easy-auth-to-query-facebook-information-via-graph-api/
I have the sample code deployed on Github. Here is the link: https://github.com/kaushalp/Facebook-GraphApi-with-EasyAuth
Is it possible to post user reviews to a FB page via an API?
I want to have an app on a phone that will let users review my business when they walk in to my store.
Edit:- This is what I've tried so far.
I used the passport module in Nodejs for authentication and was able to retrieve the access token from FB, including manage_pages, publish_pages and read_insights.
app.get('/auth/facebook', passport.authenticate('facebook', { scope : ['email', 'manage_pages','publish_pages','read_insights' ]}));
My passport strategy has this
clientID : configAuth.facebookAuth.clientID, //my app's client id
clientSecret : configAuth.facebookAuth.clientSecret, //my app's client secret
callbackURL : configAuth.facebookAuth.callbackURL, //the callback URL after authentication
profileFields: ["emails", "displayName"]
I am able to post as the page using the NPM FBGraph module.
var graph = require('fbgraph');
graph.setAccessToken(req.user.facebook.token);
graph.post("{My page's ID}/feed", "Message test", function(err, res) {
console.log(res); // { id: xxxxx}
});
This lets me post the "Message test" to my page's feed.
I am not able to find a reference to post reviews for the page through the Graph API though and was wondering if that is possible.
https://developers.facebook.com/docs/graph-api/reference/page/ratings#Creating
You can't perform this operation on this endpoint.
Meaning, it´s not possible. Not sure what you would do with publish_pages though, because ratings/reviews are made by users, not by pages...If it would be possible, then only with publish_actions.
I'm trying to use the Facebook Graph API to get the latest status from a public page, let's say http://www.facebook.com/microsoft
According to http://developers.facebook.com/tools/explorer/?method=GET&path=microsoft%2Fstatuses - I need an access token. As the Microsoft page is 'public', is this definitely the case? Is there no way for me to access these public status' without an access token?
If this is the case, how is the correct method of creating an access token for my website? I have an App ID, however all of the examples at http://developers.facebook.com/docs/authentication/ describe handling user login. I simply want to get the latest status update on the Microsoft page and display it on my site.
This is by design. Once it was possible to fetch the latest status from a public page without access token. That was changed in order to block unidentified anonymous access to the API. You can get an access token for the application (if you don't have a Facebook application set for your website - you should create it) with the following call using graph API:
https://graph.facebook.com/oauth/access_token?
client_id=YOUR_APP_ID&client_secret=YOUR_APP_SECRET&
grant_type=client_credentials
This is called App Access Token. Then you proceed with the actual API call using the app access token from above.
hope this helps
You can use AppID and Secret key to get the public posts/feed of any page. This way you don't need to get the access-token. Call it like below.
https://graph.facebook.com/PAGE-ID/feed?access_token=APP-ID|APP-SECRET
And to get posts.
https://graph.facebook.com/PAGE-ID/posts?access_token=APP-ID|APP-SECRET
It's no more possible to use Facebook Graph API without access token for reading public page statuses, what is called Page Public Content Access in Facebook API permissions. Access token even is not enough. You have to use appsecret_proof along with the access token in order to validate that you are the legitimate user. https://developers.facebook.com/blog/post/v2/2018/12/10/verification-for-individual-developers/.
If you are individual developer, you have access to three pages of the data (limited), unless you own a business app.
You can get the posts by simply requesting the site that your browser would request and then extracting the posts from the HTML.
In NodeJS you can do it like this:
// npm i request cheerio request-promise-native
const rp = require('request-promise-native'); // requires installation of `request`
const cheerio = require('cheerio');
function GetFbPosts(pageUrl) {
const requestOptions = {
url: pageUrl,
headers: {
'User-Agent': 'Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Fedora; Linux x86_64; rv:64.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/64.0'
}
};
return rp.get(requestOptions).then( postsHtml => {
const $ = cheerio.load(postsHtml);
const timeLinePostEls = $('.userContent').map((i,el)=>$(el)).get();
const posts = timeLinePostEls.map(post=>{
return {
message: post.html(),
created_at: post.parents('.userContentWrapper').find('.timestampContent').html()
}
});
return posts;
});
}
GetFbPosts('https://www.facebook.com/pg/officialstackoverflow/posts/').then(posts=>{
// Log all posts
for (const post of posts) {
console.log(post.created_at, post.message);
}
});
For more information and an example of how to retrieve more than 20 posts see: https://stackoverflow.com/a/54267937/2879085
I had a similar use case for some weeks and I used this API:
https://rapidapi.com/axesso/api/axesso-facebook-data-service/
I could fetch all posts and comments in some minutes, worked quite well for me.
