I need to add floating button on top of UITableViewController.
The following link is used for adding FloatingButton action on top of UIViewController
Creating a floating menu in an iOS application
I already tried to add this floating button to my UITableViewController but it is not visible.
please help me
thank you inadvance
First add the UITableView and then the Button. So it should be like this in the XIB Structure (Button is after the Table not before otherwise it will be hidden):
Set the Button Constraints related to the Super View and not related to UITableView.
See that button constraints are related to superview. This is important if you want the Floating Button.
If everything is done correctly it would show like this:
Floating Action button on IOS can be created with way more easier way:
Take a button from object library and place it where ever you want it to be placed.
Give its height and width 48x48.
Connect your button to your class and set its corner raidius to 25
yourButton.layer.cornerRadius = 25
There you have your Fab button.

How would I be able to create a button that works similarly to the add phone button in the contacts app? As shown below, to replicate it, I have a button on the right side that the type is Add Contact (appears as a plus in a circle) and on the right is a label. I then put them together in a stack view.
How does the contacts app have one large (bar) button that holds the image and the text? When tapping on the button (in the contacts app) it highlights the whole bar. This makes me believe that might have done this using a UITableView.
What's the best way to create a similar (bar) button as they did? Would this be easier to replicate if I used a UITableView instead?
It's definitely a tableView.
They either constrained button's top to an empty tableView's bottom or they made this as an integral tableView and each time you didSelectRowAt it inserts a row at known position.
Suppose they either use a DataSource delegate method for rows insertion or a custom-made function wrapped in tableView.beginUpdates() and tableView.endUpdates() (reloads the table with animation)
you should not use stackview to wrap both button and right text.because you also need tap event.and stack view not giving tapping event.
I think you should place your button and label inside UIView and than Assing UIControl as Class in Inspecter(not UIView).than Controll drag from Your View to Class File and select TouchUPinside event.disabel user interaction of both button and Label otherwise event will not Fired.
and than Add above UIControll and other Component to either tableView or Vertical StackView.
This is a tricky question to explain, but basically I have an app with a home screen with a bunch of circular icons on it. When the user taps on an icon, it pushes a table view onto the navigation stack. When an icon is tapped on the home screen, I want the tapped icon to stay on top of the table view as it scrolls in, and then drop onto the table view in the cell that represents it. All the other icons, however, should stay below the incoming table view, like normal. Here's a quick diagram I whipped up...
I'm about to begin researching this, I just wanted to quickly post this question in case anyone has some ideas about how I can approach this. Thanks so much for your wisdom!
Oh thats soo easy!!!
I'll try to explain my solution:
You need two sets of icons.
One set lays on Home View, second is exact location, but as a subview on main window (by default - hidden)
Once You select a button, and want to push a list - You un-hide corresponding window subview icon, and with delay - animate / shrink it to tableView corresponding location.
Once animation is finished - hide icon (instant hide will not be noticeable, as this icon will be positioned/scaled to precisely reassemble icon in tableview), and move it to default position/scale (still hidden).
That's it.
This is pretty simple, and can be done without adding second instances of your buttons. You'll use the view hierarchies z-index for this.
When you add the table view as a subview of the main view don't use addSubview, use:
[self.view insertSubview:table belowSubview:button];
Button^ will represent the button that you want to stay on top, and for your other buttons, you just have to make sure that they are lower on the stack. This way, when the table flies in, it can keep going past the button but the button will stay above it.
You can also use:
[self.view insertSubview:table atIndex:5];
On all of these buttons and the table to have total control over each objects z-index.
I have a "side panel" like widget in my app that can be swiped in from the side of the screen. In order to help the users find the panel, I also added a UIButton to do the same thing - scroll the panel on and off screen.
The view comes from a different view controller, otherwise I would've simply created an extra panel in the interface builder and positioned it properly.
My problem is that the side panel gets positioned over the button, so if it is displayed with a button, it can only be dismissed with a gesture.
is it possible to specify at which "depth" I add a UIView when I programmatically add it in code?
This is the snipped that slides the panel in or out within the animation block.
self.audioSystemController.view.frame =CGRectMake(0,20, 120,460);
I need the UIView to be shown below a UIButton, so the button may be used to dismiss the view. I know this is redundant, but I cannot depend on the users to simply discover the side swiping gestures :/
Thank you for your help!
Check out the insertSubview:belowSubview: method of UIView.
I would like to add a toolbar with a label entitled "Save your search?" on the left and a button "Save" on the right that triggers a specific action when tapped. How could I do that programmatically, especially I want this Toolbar to show up only when a particular View is loaded on a screen but not on every view.
Also, I want the toolbar to have a static image as background. "Save" button will also have a static image for background
Just to check; why do you need to add this toolbar of sorts onto a TableView? Depending on how you've set things up; and specially seeing that you need to conditionally hide/show this toolbar, might be easier to add it outside the tableView (just above it I guess).
Seeing as you need to hide/show this toolbar at will; guess you can simply use a UIView for it and add the UIButtons on top as subviews; --> declare it as a property in the .h file so that it can be freely accessed in the .m file whenever you need to hide / show it.
Did you need help on some specific issue related to this perhaps; or would this serve as a goo enough starting point?
I'm trying to add a button on the bottom of a TableView, without any success.
The idea isn't to use the tableFooterView property, as that doesn't show the button in a fixed position.
My idea is more along the lines of the Facebook application's Notifications bar on the bottom.
I'm using Three20.
Any pointers on how I can achieve this?
Thanks
Just add button to the view below your tableview but ensure your table height is less than the position you are adding the button,this way your can scroll table above button & your button will always be visible
Just embed custom view over your tableview.i mean on the bottom of tableview.so the tableview will scroll and the view don't.
Add a UIView as the footerView and then add the UIButton to the UIView.
