I have a form with some fields that are validated while processing the form data. It's a kind of a plausibility / consistency check. The check itself is costly, so it should not be performed twice. But it must be performed during successful form submission, so it's part of the commandButton's action method in the backing bean.
I think if I use a <f:validator>, it will be performed once for the validation phase and then once again when submission takes place. As I said, that's not desirable.
As far as I understand the docs, it should be sufficient to add a message to one of the form's components in order to stay on the form.
So I've tried
FacesContext.getCurrentInstance().addMessage("comandButtonID", "some message");
but it does not stay on the form.
Do I need to do something additional to mark the form as invalid ?
If it matters, the backing bean is request-scoped.
So, here comes the minimal complete example.
OS: Linux
Browser: Chromium
Server: Tomcat 8.0.36
JDK: Oracle-JDK 1.8.0_92
JSF implementation: myfaces 2.1.18 + tomahawk 20-1.1.14
There is one thing I found out during creating this example:
When I set javax.faces.PROJECT_STAGE to "Development" and facelets.DEVELOPMENT to "true", and the message is displayed.
With the settings grom the web.xml below, it's not.

Exception:
Servlet.service() for servlet Persistent Faces Servlet threw exception java.lang.IllegalStateException: No Factories configured for this Application. This happens if the faces-initialization does not work at all - make sure that you properly include all
configuration settings necessary for a basic faces application and that all the necessary libs are included. Also check the logging output of your web application and your container for any exceptions! If you did that and find nothing, the mistake might
be due to the fact that you use some special web-containers which do not support registering context-listeners via TLD files and a context listener is not setup in your web.xml. A typical config looks like this;

I don't understand why the faces-initialization is not working. Please help me figure out how to fix the issue.
Thanks a lot for your time.
Figured out the problem.
I just had to add the following mapping to web.xml
<servlet-mapping>
<servlet-name>Faces Servlet</servlet-name>
<url-pattern>/faces/*</url-pattern>
</servlet-mapping>

Why request is going to Struts Dispatcher?

I am using jersey with Struts2. But by RestFul Service calls are not working. Below are my configurations files

With this configuration Struts2 filter intercepts all requests.
To exclude your /service/* requests use struts.action.excludePattern constant:
<constant name="struts.action.excludePattern" value="/service/.*" />
I have a similar architecture (using Struts2 and Jersey).
In my web.xml I have:
<filter>
<filter-name>struts2</filter-name>
<filter-class>
org.apache.struts2.dispatcher.ng.filter.StrutsPrepareAndExecuteFilter
</filter-class>
</filter>
<filter-mapping>
<filter-name>struts2</filter-name>
<url-pattern>/admin/*</url-pattern>
</filter-mapping>
My Jersey is configured through an extended ResourceConfig:
#ApplicationPath("rest")
public class Config extends ResourceConfig {
public Config() {
super();
register(new Binder());
packages(true, this.getClass().getPackage().getName());
}
}
So the two are on separate url paths:
Struts is on /admin and Jersey is on /rest.
I found the same question asked previously here but I didn't found the suitable answer. I am designing my web in JSF2.0 with PrimeFaces 3.5 as a JSF component suite. Below is the error coming while automatic deploy is in process-

I am using Eclipse Indigo on Ubuntu 10.04.4 LTS.
My problem is that when I run a very simple JSF application the EL tags are not getting rendered.
For example, this code:
<html lang="en" xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"
xmlns:h="http://java.sun.com/jsf/html">
<h:head>
<title>Facelets Hello World</title>
</h:head>
<h:body> #{hello.world} </h:body>
</html>
Is displayed as #{hello.word} within the browser, rather than "Hello World!" as should be returned by my managed bean:
#ManagedBean(name = "hello")
public class Hello {
public String getWorld() {
return "Hello World!";
}
}
I have seen this question JSF 2.0 EL tags don't render in browser already, but it didn't help me. And, according to what I've read, Tomcat 7 claims to provide both API and implementation of the EL 2.2 standard.
I'm using the following software/versions:
Eclipse Indigo 3.7.2 Java EE edition
Eclipse plugin: m2e 1.0.2
Eclipse plugin: m2e-wtp 0.15.2
Maven 2
Tomcat 7 (have tried the following versions)
Tomcat 7.0.10
Tomcat 7.0.26
Tomcat 7.0.27
MyFaces 2.1.6
Oracle JDK 1.7.0
If more information is required I'll gladly provide it.
[EDIT1]
I'm not even sure if this is necessary/correct, but adding the following to web.xml didn't solve the problem:
<context-param>
<param-name>org.apache.myfaces.EXPRESSION_FACTORY</param-name>
<param-value>org.apache.el.ExpressionFactoryImpl</param-value>
</context-param>

You should access your pages with .html extension like that: myPage.html
cause of your servlet-mapping
<servlet-mapping>
<servlet-name>Faces Servlet</servlet-name>
<url-pattern>*.html</url-pattern>

I am trying to build simple JSF application using primefaces but somehow primefaces components are not getting rendered properly. I dont understand what is going wrong.
I am trying to display following Facelet file :
<html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"
xmlns:ui="http://java.sun.com/jsf/facelets"
xmlns:h="http://java.sun.com/jsf/html"
xmlns:f="http://java.sun.com/jsf/core"
xmlns:p="http://primefaces.prime.com.tr/ui">
<h:head>
<link type="text/css"
rel="stylesheet"
href="/Themes/primefaces-dot-luv/theme.css" />
</h:head>
<h:body>
<p:spinner value="100" style="height: 10px" />
<br/>
<p:button value="Navigate"></p:button>
</h:body>
</html>
I am using eclipse to run the app on tomcat server. When I run the application and view the page source in browser(firefox) I get following source :
<html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" xmlns:p="http://primefaces.prime.com.tr/ui">
<head>
<link type="text/css" rel="stylesheet" href="Themes/primefaces-dot-luv/theme.css" />
</head>
<body>
<p:spinner value="100" style="height: 10px"></p:spinner>
<br />
<p:button value="Navigate"></p:button>
</body>
</html>
I think PrimeFaces components are not getting rendered properly. Other JSF tags like <h:head> and <h:body> are converted correctly to <head> and <body> elements respectively. Only tags starting with <p:> are not converted.
Following is my project structure :

I am using eclipse , tomcat server. JSF 2 and primefaces 3 library.
Hi, After some close inspection of entire project I found out that
primefaces jar dowlonaded from site did not had any classes. Jar
itself was corrupt. I downloaded same jar thrice then also jar was
getting corrupt. So I downloaded zip file containing source and
binaries and my application started working.
Try changing your web.xml servlet mapping:
<servlet-mapping>
<servlet-name>Faces Servlet</servlet-name>
<url-pattern>*.xhtml</url-pattern>
</servlet-mapping>
The way to tell if the Facelets Servlet is processing your xhtml is to look at what the browser receives. If it looks like your xhtml file then you have something mis-configured.
Your need change
xmlns:p="http://primefaces.prime.com.tr/ui"
to
xmlns:p="http://primefaces.org/ui"
You should change your namespace into xmlns:p="http://primefaces.org/ui"
and implement button like this way
<p:commandButton value="Home" process="#this" action="actionMethod()" immediate="true" rendered="true or renderingMethod()" />
