I am trying to install drool 6.4.0.Final in eclipse Neon. I use the update site url and it works fine. But once eclipse starts calculating requirements etc. It proceeds to a page which shows that:
Cannot complete the install because one or more required items could
not be found. Software being installed: JBoss Runtime Drools Detector
Developer Resources 6.4.0.Final
(org.jboss.tools.runtime.drools.detector.feature.source.feature.group

What’s going wrong here? Am I missing something?
FYI Eclipse GEF plugin installed successfully.
Installing JBoss Tools 4.4.0.Final plugin before Drools plugin installation worked for me.
Or better see this answer https://stackoverflow.com/a/34204575/1562662. I haven't tried this, but seems to work.

I am trying to install the drools plugin in Eclipse on Windows. The version of Eclipse that I installed is 4.15.0 build 20200313-1211.
I then went to https://download.jboss.org/drools/release/7.38.0.Final/ and downloaded droolsjbpm-tools-distribution-7.38.0.Final.zip and set that up as a local update site.
When I select "Drools and jBPM" and click "Next", I get an error message about these two items:
JBoss Runtime Drools Detector
JBoss Runtime Drools Detector Developer Resources
with this error messsage:
Cannot complete the install because one or more required items could
not be found. Software being installed: JBoss Runtime Drools

(org.jboss.tools.runtime.drools.detector.feature.feature.group

not be found
I don't know anything about Eclipse or Drools so I might be trying to install the wrong thing. I've been looking at all of the tutorials I can find about getting Drools up and running. Every tutorial I've found leads me to a dead-end like this. Am I installing the correct software to test Drools?
I tried to install the AEM developer tool plug in in eclipse by downloading the com.adobe.granite.ide.p2update-1.0.4.zip at local and installing. But it failed with the following message:
Cannot complete the install because one or more required items could not be found.
`Software being installed: AEM Developer Tools 1.0.4 (com.adobe.granite.ide.feature.feature.group 1.0.4)
Missing requirement: Sling IDE Tools, M2e-based 1.0.6 (org.apache.sling.ide.m2e-feature.feature.group 1.0.6) requires 'org.sonatype.tycho.m2e.feature.feature.group 0.0.0' but it could not be found
Cannot satisfy dependency:
From: AEM Developer Tools 1.0.4 (com.adobe.granite.ide.feature.feature.group 1.0.4)

So what is missed in my eclipse(Luna version), I think maybe I need to installed another plugin or something else that can provide "org.sonatype.tycho.m2e.feature.feature.group",I googled the "org.sonatype.tycho.m2e.feature.feature.group" but haven't get the exactly info about it.
The problem is resolved by setting network proxy in eclipse. Set your network proxy in eclipse-->preferences-->general-->network connections, then re-install the plug-in, tata~~~ problem resolved :)
Try to find this "org.sonatype.tycho.m2e.feature.feature.group" bundle on eclipse website and put into the plug-in folder, then run as administrator for eclipse, it should work.
in my case, it shows require org.eclipse.equinox.ds, so I just get what it needs. it could work for a similar situation.
I'm trying to run the IBM Worklight plugin in eclipse classic, but I'm running into some errors:
First of all, I want to update eclipse, but it seems to take over 20 hours to do so. Is there another possibility to update to the latest software? I need to do this in order to install ibm worklight.
Secondly, I'm receiving this errorcode:
Cannot complete the install because one or more required items could not be found.
Software being installed: Eclipse 4.2 Dependencies 1.0.0.v20120615_1503 (com.ibm.rational.dependency.eclipse42.feature.group 1.0.0.v20120615_1503)
I'm loading the IBM worklight from a .zip file. Hopefully I have given you enough information to help me.
Update 1: I also tried using eclipse EE for IDE. Then I got this error:
Cannot complete the install because one or more required items could not be found.
Software being installed: AJAX Web Tools 1.0.0.v20120731_1538 (com.ibm.wdt.webtools.ajax.feature.feature.group 1.0.0.v20120731_1538)
Are you loading the developer version of Worklight or a licensed. I would suggest using the Eclipse marketplace and searching for the Worklight plug in. Typically this is a smoother way of installing the plug in. Where did you get the zip files of the plug in? If it was directly from IBM, make sure it is the newest version which is the 5.0.5.1 (crazy versions, I know) If not, let me know.
IBM Worklight supports Eclipse versions 4.2, 3.7, and 3.6. For the Marketplace client use Juno, Indigo or Helios Eclipse IDE for Java EE Developers. (taken from: http://marketplace.eclipse.org/content/ibm-worklight-developer-edition#.UTTUNoeH7zs).
If you use other versions of eclipse you'll probably face installation problems.
Also check the "Contact all update sites during install to find required software" option in "Install new software" wizard.
Regarding upgrading eclipse as far as I know there is no way to upgrade eclipse to the next version, you must download and install desired eclipse version.
I have Eclipse classic 4.2 installed in my PC and I wanted to work on the webservices project with eclipse. I have followed the following method to update the eclipse classic to support Java EE.
I have used the install new software section and added the following URL
http://download.eclipse.org/webtools/updates/
Then i have selected Web tools platform and click next.
Then I'm getting the following error messages and i'm unable to install the web tools.

Can anyone guide me how to install and get started with the current version I have?
Thanks in advance.
Use juno, http://download.eclipse.org/releases/juno to install webtools on top of Eclipse 4.2.
The webtools repo you showed above doesn't have EMF in it, so you need to add an EMF repo as well or pull it from the juno update site.
Has anyone been able to successfully install the Oracle Enterprise Pack for Eclipse AND the Liferay IDE? There seems to be a mutually exclusive dependency on the Sapphire stuff and I can't find a hack for installing both.
Here is the error given by Eclipse when trying to install the Liferay IDE:

The Latest release of Liferay IDE requires a specific version of Sapphire to operate so it cannot be co-installed with Oracle that also requires a specific version that is different.
The only workaround would be to download the Liferay IDE source and build it manually and before building it, open up the valid version range for the sapphire requirements on all download Liferay IDE plugins (5 of them have sapphire deps). Note: this would mean that any time a sapphire based feature in Liferay IDE actually hit something that was required it may fail but everything else would work normally. If you are interested in going this far to fix this problem I will be glad to help but we should continue that conversation here: Liferay IDE Forums
I got the solution. Install oracle pack first and then install liferay Ide plugin. It worked for me
