PDF thumbnail not appearing - typo3

PDF file in Text & Media element won't show.
I added two PDF and one image. As you can see from generated markup, the PDF come out empty, while the image shows:
Have tried all tests in Install tool. Every test succeeded except Render text with TrueType font using 'niceText' option (screenshot)

The most likely cause for non-working PDF thumbnails is that Ghostscript is not installed. You can check that in the TYPO3 install tool.
Another possibility would be a misconfiguration of ImageMagick in TYPO3, especially the version (im_version_5 setting and friends).
As the problem only occurs in the frontend, you should also check if the path is correct and/or if you have any permission problems writing to typo3temp/. If that is all correct, try flushing the processed files cache (in the install tool) and check if the thumbnails in the backend appear correctly again.

If you have installed ghostscript via brew, ghostscript is installed in /usr/local/bin. You need a symlink to ghostscript in /usr/bin/
Restart mac
CMD + R on restart.
Start terminal
run csrutil disable
Normal Restart
sudo ln -s /usr/local/bin/gs /usr/bin/gs
Restart again with CMD + R and open terminal
run csrutil enable to enable System Integration Security again.

Convert ipynb to pdf in Jupyter

I am new to ipython notebook, and I would like to convert my ipynb to pdf. But I get the following error when I try to Download as PDF via LaTex.
nbconvert failed: pdflatex not found on PATH
There is no documentation anywhere how to add pdflatex to my PATH. I use windows. Thank you!
A simple and surprisingly good solution is to print the notebook to pdf through the browser with ctrl+p. Just make sure your plots and figures are not on interactive mode otherwise they will not be displayed (set them to %matplotlib inline).
Exporting jupyter notebooks through latex is quite troublesome and takes a lot of tinkering to get something remotely close to publish ready. When I absolutely need publication quality I do it on a latex editor, but this tutorial goes in great length about doing it on jupyter.
A few useful tips to get better results:

For Mac OS X, the solution for me was to install MacTex first and then export the path to find it:

export PATH="/Library/TeX/Distributions/.DefaultTeX/Contents/Programs/texbin:$PATH"
You can add this to your .bash_profile or similar config file to load it every time.

As said by Thomas K in the comments, you need to have Latex installed, and after add the path to the directory containing pdflatex.exe file to the PATH variable of your system.
I have looked for a lightweight distribution and tried installing TeXworks, but I didn't find any pdflatex.exe file.
So I have tried TeX Live, which worked fine creating the pdflatex.exe file under the target installation directory. This path should be like C:\...\texlive\2016\bin\win32.
Finally, you should just add this path to the PATH environment variable of your system (you can use the link shared by Thomas K).
As said here, you need to quit jupyter notebook and open a new command prompt after making any path changes, in order for jupyter to find the newly added item to the PATH.
Then, in Jupyter, you can check your environment variables by running the following (refer to this link for details):
import os
os.environ['PATH'].split(';')
and check if it contains the path to pdflatex.exe file.
If you get some trouble when exporting your notebook to pdf due to missing files/packages (this happened to me), refer to this link to search and install them under TeX Live.
For Linux, the reported error is due to the lack of XeLatex, part of the texlive-xetex package.
Installation in ubuntu will be:
sudo apt install texlive-xetex
Instead of using nbconvert what you can do is :
Download your ipynb file as HTML from File option.
Right-click and select print or use Ctrl+P.
Save as PDF
Easy.
Here is the full solution that worked for me (for Mac).
brew cask install mactex
$ cd ~/
$ touch .bash_profile
This will open the bash profile on TextEditor
$ open -e .bash_profile
Paste the following to the top and save
export PATH="/Library/TeX/Distributions/.DefaultTeX/Contents/Programs/texbin:$PATH"
Close any notebook you have and reopen it

I agree that latex installation (at least on windows) is painful and the result in my case was not a great looking document. The ctrl-p method alone doesn't work great if you're running in JupyterLab, but if you export the notebook to HTML, then print from the browser, choosing PDF, the result is quite good.
I know my solution is not at a level. But it works !!
in your browser of notebook tab, simply do "ctrl + p" to get download in pdf
First export the notebook file to HTML (available through File> Download as..).
If you are using JupyterLab, then this is available under File > Export Notebook As....
Use (any) free online converters to convert html file to a pdf file. (One such free online converter is sejda (https://www.sejda.com/html-to-pdf)
Note, there are many such converters are available online.

eclipse - swt - using windowbuilder in xfce env

I have some problems with eclipse indigo x64 Linux; The problem is using windowbuilder (the SWT); I tried using gwt or swing but they both cause either windowbuilder freeze or even eclipse crash...

widgets and they takes a screen snapshot of them. This works very well

End your session (or press Ctrl-Alt-Delete to restart the x-server) and log in again.

well seems like I have the snapshot really but, as I can get it, the snapshot doesn't want to dispose or similar so I have either resize the whole eclipse or press F5 to refresh (which works not at once);
I am not sure how to fix the issue in case I have xfce+adwaita installed? I don't have metacity installed; Seems like xfce works with gtk instead of metacity (correct me if I am wrong);
So my question is... how to fix the "window flashing or freezing" if I have :

adwaita-dark theme
linux arch x64ce

Jupyter webpages not displaying properly

No matter how I install Jupyter(aka IPython) I get a dud webpage. It does not display tabs or menus as expected.
The screen shot above is from a 64bit Windows Anaconda install. It was a default install. Install finished. No changes to configuration. First action after install was select IPython menu item in start menu.
Now, trust me, I have tried everything. I have tried installing IPython from pip over top my python2.7 installation, anaconda etc. No matter how I install it ends up with the same problem. I even tried 32bit installs etc.
It doesn't appear to be the browser as both IE and Chrome see the same mangled display.
It is almost like the css files are not being picked up or are not there at all.
I opted to allow the installation of the Anaconda to update my environment variables etc. so the dang blasted thing should be finding where it has put itself.
What is the likely cause? What is the fix please?
I did have a very similar issue on Windows recently. Some program has overwritten your mime type associations. For me it was Inkscape killing SVG by setting the mime type to application/svg.
Try this on terminal:
import mimetypes
mimetypes.guess('file.css')
You should get text/css. If you get application/css this is most likely your problem. My solution: Change back the mime type association. Start regedit and search for application/css in HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT. Replace it with text/css.

VSCode ran once on install, won't run or install again

I'm running this on Windows 7 SP1 with most (if not all) current patches. I have administrative permissions on this machine.
The first time I ran VSCodeSetup.exe, it ran the installer for several minutes then launched the actual application.
I got called into a surprise meeting, so I closed it thinking I'd look at it again later.
However, when I returned to my computer and tried to launch it, I found no evidence that it was actually installed... no desktop icon, no entry in the start menu, no Explorer integration...
I tried running VSCodeSetup.exe again, but all it does it show the installer screen for a split second, which then vanishes.
Since then, I've tried the suggestions outlined in VSCode Installation Failed - Failed to extract installer to install the application, even going so far as to run Update.exe --uninstall followed by running VSCodeSetup.exe again, but nothing has worked.
I even tried disabling my antivirus software and running the installer again, to no avail.
Does anyone know what I can do to get VSCode working again?
According to the comments and answers to Install VSCode in a specific folder, Visual Studio Code installs itself to %LOCALAPPDATA%\Code on Windows.
While I'm not sure why it didn't register itself with Explorer, I can at least create a shortcut to %LOCALAPPDATA%\Code\bin\code.cmd (with icon %LOCALAPPDATA%\Code\app.ico) to get it working again.
Or remove the directory entirely and run VSCodeSetup.exe to install it again, which still doesn't add Explorer integration... but this time at least the PATH now has code in it.
On windows VSCode is installed as Code.exe and its located in your
C:\Users\<windows-user>\AppData\Local\Code\app-<version-number>\Code.exe
or
C:\Users\John\AppData\Local\Code\app-0.5.0\Code.exe

Where can I find the gtk-builder-convert script?

I've built a small GUI app for work that uses some .glade files for pop-up windows. Recently, the ground beneath me was shifted - my environment was upgraded. Newer pyGTK versions require GTKBuilder and .xml files instead of Glade and .glade files and now my poor app is broken.
I need to convert the .glade file to the newer .xml file. Problem is Glade-3 is not on our system, and I can't find gtk-builder-convert on the web. I've looked at the Gnome GIT Browser, don't know where to start looking or how to search it.
Would anyone be kind enough to point me to the gtk-builder-convert python script?
gtk-builder-convert is part of GTK and it should already be installed on your system since you have GTK version 2.12 or higher. But if you really can't find it, here it is in the git browser: http://git.gnome.org/browse/gtk+/tree/gtk/gtk-builder-convert
ubuntu: install the tools by sudo apt-get install libgtk2.0-dev
but it is now deprecated
It worked on Linux for me using Gtk3+ and Glade3+ installed from conda by following steps.
Open your Gtk1+ older glade XML file designed in Glade1+ user interface in Glade3+ user interface.
Click on Save button in Glade3+ user interface.
Use this command after conda activate gtk-builder-convert infile outfile.
