I have to say that while I love ColdFusion Builder, I hate setting it up. Every time I have to take 4 or 5 installs before I get it right. At the moment I am setting up CFBuilder 2016, 64 bit. I want to set it up as a plugin on this Eclipse setup: Eclipse IDE for JavaScript Web Developers.
I'm using the 64-bit version of both. I extract the Eclipse environment to my desktop. Then go install CFBuilder, specify the folder I extracted to, and install. When it completes and starts up, it runs, but none of the ColdFusion Builder add ins are available. CF is not available as a new project, CFMs aren't available as new files, etc.
Your link implies Eclipse Indigo (3.7). Though CFBuilder installation FAQ at https://helpx.adobe.com/coldfusion/installing-coldfusion-builder.html states Eclipse 3.4.2 or higher, its actual installer insists on 4.3.2/4.4/4.5 (Kepler/Luna/Mars) screenshot. As of Halloween 2016, it doesn't seem to install correctly in 4.6 (Neon) either.

I am brand new to computer programming for CIS 210 and it's off to terrible start. Downloaded JDK 9 and Netbeans 8.2. Netbeans won't let me open a new project or file. No error message or anything, almost as if I'm not clicking it. Screen remains blank as seen in the link below. It's driving me insane.

The solution is for Windows, but the same logic applied in Linux too.
Solution1:
You have to edit netbeans.conf find to your java installation path. You can find netbeans.conf inside etc folder of Netbeans installation folder.
Make your netbeans.conf like below.
Eg, netbeans_jdkhome="C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jdk1.8.0_144"
NetBeans 8.2 does not support Java 9. It just won't work.
The solution is to download the latest nightly build of NetBeans, which does support Java 9:
Normally you would go to the NetBeans download page and click the Development link in the top right corner of the screen.
However, I just tried that and it looks like their web page for downloading nightly builds is not working properly at the moment due to "...violates the following Content Security Policy directive..." errors. I've never seen that before.
A temporary workaround for that problem is to go directly to Index of /download/trunk/nightly/latest/bundles/ and select the download that is appropriate for your environment. You should be able to parse the file names to work out which one you want, depending on whether you need 32-bit or 64-bit, whether you are running on Mac OS or Linux or Windows, etc. (To be clear, ignore this bullet point if the Development link in the first bullet point above is working properly.)
Also note that you can safely install and run multiple versions of NetBeans concurrently: use version 8.2 for Java 8 development, and use the Development Version of NetBeans for Java 9 development.

The page for downloading Development Builds of NetBeans is working again, so go there, select your Platform from the droplist, and then click the appropriate Download button.
NetBeans with Java 9 is working fine for me using that approach.
NetBeans 9 would be supported version for Java 9, which was supposed to be released by Aug 2017
NetBeans 9 will be released from Apache Software Foundation as new
Apache project. NetBeans is being donated to ASG by Oracle. NetBeans
9 main theme will be to support this upcoming Java SE 9 release.
Of course, you can use NetBeans daily build, but there won't be guarantee of it's stability.
I do C++ embedded development for the NetBurner platform. They have plug-ins that customize Eclipse and in addition to a build tool-chain they add a Launch Group under the Run Configuration area. Everything was working fine under Indigo (32 bit) when I decided to install Subclipse (big mistake). As soon as the install finished I could no longer run my existing configurations successfully. When I went into the Run Configurations area I noticed the Launch Group I used to use was missing. Here is what it looked like earlier yesterday:

Things I've tried
First I uninstalled the Subclipse plugins using the
Help->About->Installation Details and then selecting them one at a
time, Uninstalling and restarting after each uninstall. No change.
Then I unpacked the original Eclipse Indigo/CDT 32 bit download to a
fresh folder. Copied over the NetBurner plugins from the zip I got
from the manufacturer. No change.
Launched with different Workspaces, no change.
Launched a Galileo version, it uses older plug-ins, and it still
works.
Copied older plug-ins into Indigo, the older NetBurner launcher
shows up (but it doesn't really work with Indigo)
Removed the older plug-ins put in the newer ones, old NetBurner
launcher went away new launcher does not show up.
Tried removing the
{Workspace}.metadata.plugins\org.eclipse.debug.core.launches - no
change.
Interestingly even though launches has many .launch files that should show up under Run Configuration, nothing shows up.
One other strange (possibly relevant) thing is that icon for the NetBurner Perspective went away, now it just has <NetBurner> as the text and a generic perspective icon.
I can still cross-compile and build for the NetBurner (i.e. the build toolchain still works), it's just the ability to use run configurations that seems to be missing.
I'm out of ideas, does anyone know of some global setting that sits outside the workspace and outside the Indigo installation folder that could be causing this?
I'm running on Win 7 64 bit ultimate, I run the 32 bit version of Indigo because the 64 bit doesn't appear to work with the NetBurner plug-ins. I've also disabled the two Mylyn tasks under General->Startup and Shutdown (they seemed to cause many Permgen memory crashes). This is the same setup I had working flawlessly yesterday.

I also noticed that only 3 of the 4plug-ins are showing up in the Installation Details plug-in pane. The nbeclipse.core_2.6.0.jar is in the eclipse plugin directory but not showing as loaded. So I guess I know now the problem is the plug-in isn't loading but I don't know why or how to get it to load, or what subclipse could have changed that would cause this.
I suspect that the Subclipse installation may have caused an update to some other plugin(s) that it depended on (keep in mind the transitive nature plugin dependency resolution; if you're installing plugin A and it requires a certain version of Plugin B that you don't have, Plugin B will be installed or updated to that version). In doing so, maybe the NetBurner plugin can no longer load because its declared dependencies are no longer met (ie, it depended on an earlier version and does not tolerate a later version).
You can use the OSGi Console to help determine why a plugin is not loading. Here are a couple of references that should help:

By the way, you can not just copy plugins into an Eclipse installation and expect them to work. For several versions now, Eclipse has not supported that ability. You must use Help > Install New Software or File > Import > Install > From Existing Installation to install plugins. Ask the vendor if they have an update site to install from; like I said above, simply dropping things into Eclipse's plugins folder is not supported any more, it won't work. Other than the vendor providing an update site, the only other option is to use the dropins folder, as described here.
I am looking for help in configuring the Blackberry development environment. In fact, it is quite a frustrating process. The blackberry site is pretty useless. Between links that have been moved, details that are assumed and documents that are out of date it is proving very difficult to get anywhere with blackberry development.
Pheww, now that my rant is done. Here is my problem:
I have finally got the JDE for Eclipse working (that is a story in itself). However, my blackberry workspace is only giving me the option of targeting the 4.5 JDE components. How do I update it to use the 4.7 components?
It would be preferable to have step-by-step instructions but I would appreciate any help that can be provided.

Totally agreed - it's not at all obvious what to do. I've never had luck using their update site, so I just download and install the component packs manually:
Download the "Eclipse Software Update for the BlackBerry JDE v4.7 Component Pack" from the BlackBerry developer zone (it's a zip file)
From Eclipse open the Help menu and choose Software Updates
Click on the Available Software tab
Click Add Site
Choose Archive and select your zip file
Make sure everything under the JDE 4.7 tree is checked
Click Install and continue through the wizard
You are a life saver!!!!!!!!!!! This worked perfectly. I understand the frustration. If this. If this doesn't work I would recommend deleteing the entire directory and reinstalling eclipse.
You should already have JDK installed:
This is what I downloaded for 64bit windows:jdk-6u16-windows-x64.exe get one that matches your OS. Should be jdk version 6.
I installed this version: Should work for windows x86 and 64bit:
eclipse-java-ganymede-SR2-win32.zip
Other versions shouldn't work. has to be 3.4 but not 3.5 (gallileo) and it has to be for java.
Then I installed the plugin. Then I followed the instructions above and it worked.
eclipse-java-ganymede-SR2-win32.zip does not work with the 64-bit JDK.
You have to use eclipse-SDK-3.4.1-win32-x86_64 with the 64-bit JDK. Once you use these two things together and install the Eclipse Plugin, the installation works fine, but I always get "Cannot find RIMIDEWin32Util.dll. This is a required component of the IDE." and then "Cannot find RIMUsbJni.dll. Without this dll the IDE cannot connect to USB enabled handhelds. Add RIMUsbJni to java.library.path". Both of the supposedly missing files are located in my workspace path under .metadata.plugins\net.rim.eide.bootstrapper\installDlls. I have placed those two files pretty much everywhere I could think of, even c:\windows\system32, and it still claims to not be able to find these files.
Now for the fix....
You can use eclipse-java-ganymede-SR2-win32.zip with the 32-bit JDK. Make sure you add the JDK\bin to your %PATH% environment variable. You can then install the Blackberry JDK Plugin and Component Pack and everything will work!
Note: In order to "Configure Blackberry Workspace" from the Blackberry menu, you must first create a Blackberry project. Found this out the hard way.
I've got my Eclipse 3.4 envirnoment set up nice and cozy the way I like it. Took me some time too, to find all the plugins (Mylin, PDT, Subclipse), set all the settings, etc. Now I see that some of the plugins (like PDT) only support 3.5 in their latest versions.
Is it possible to update from 3.4 to 3.5? I'd hate to do it all again.
I read in some mailing list where they noted that it's possible, but the conversation trailed off in another direction. Google wasn't much help, and Eclipse's documentation either.
All of your settings are actually stored as part of your workspace. So you could do a fresh install of the latest version of Eclipse, add the extra plugins that you want (many of which will have newer versions for Eclipse 3.5) and when you launch, just make sure you point to your old workspace.
Help -> Software Updates... -> Available Software tab -> Add Site...
Enter the update site for the Galileo (3.5) release train: http://download.eclipse.org/releases/galileo
Now go back to the Installed Software tab and click the Update... button.
After some computation you should be presented with a list of available updates (or some cryptic errors about how your current environment cannot be updated due to compatibility issues).
This is what I did.
1.- My workspace was in c:\Users\me\workspace.
I copied this folder to c:\users\me\eclipse\workspace-3.4 and to c:\users\me\eclipse\workspace-3.5
So now I have twice the same, just with different names.
2.- Extracted eclipse-SDK-3.5-win32.zip to C:\program files\eclipse-SDK-3.5-win32
3.- Run Eclipse 3.4 and changed the workspace from c:\Users\me\workspace to c:\users\me\eclipse\workspace-3.4. Then I closed Eclipse.
4.- Run Eclipse 3.5 and selected c:\users\me\eclipse\workspace-3.5 as the workspace location (you can also use the -data argument I think).
5.- Downloaded and installed the PDT plugin (I develop in PHP).
And "Voila", now I'm able to run Eclipse 3.4 and 3.5.
BTW, even if I had to install the PDT plug in, I didn't had to touch the configuration. It took the former one from the workspace folder.

I have already installed Eclipse for Java development. I'd also like to install Plugins for PHP, CSS/HTML and Javascript, but all the sites that I've checked only offer a 'All in one' package, so I could either download an all-in-one Java package or an all-in-one PHP package, but not both at the same time.
How do I set up my existing installation to also support PHP files?
I use PHPEclipse which can be installed as a regular Eclipse software update
The PDT can also be installed as an update.
For HTML/CSS etc, the WTP can be installed in a similar fashion.
If you already have Eclipse installed, follow the instructions at PDT Installation to install the PDT (PHP Development Tools). This will include the Web Tools Project (WTP), which brings editors and tools for HTML and CSS.
This issue made me nuts 2. First i downloaded the PDT eclipse, which would not take google plugins or apache ant. Then I downloaded the Eclipse SDK to use java ant GWT and could not load php onto it.
If you ask me, this program sucks. I like the idea, however the updates hardly ever work, and it does not support multiple coding languages like it says it does. Also the web site is shocking as it gives you 100 options to download.
Coulnt the have just made the one platform and then provided links to the plugins ???
Correct me if i am wrong guys, but trying to get PHP and Java working in eclipse is torture. Ive been stuck for 3 days now, installing and uinstalling.
One final rant, the download speeds of the eclipse servers are below 10kb, and take about half a day to install one update.
My prob is, I have to use it as the project i am working was archived with Eclipse.
Did you follow the steps presented on this installation page? There is a From update site section in which they describe how to install it from the Software Updates menu.
I had this problem recently.
I started with the J2EE Ganymede setup and added the PDT tools (via Update) afterwards.
Then I added Subclipse afterwards.

Why do you want JDT and PDT in one installation? I usually set up different installations for different things. It just so easy, since you don't really need to install anything. I have two setups for PDT and at least 5 for JDT.
Install Aptana Studio plugin. In my experience it is much better then either PHPEclipse or PDT. However, YMMV.
