Underlay Chart with Detail section - crystal-reports

My group header has a chart and records in the detail section.
I placed the chart on the left side of the page and the columns of the table (in detail section) to the right. Now i just want them to be side by side. I already tried to set in expert mode the underlay following section in the group header but this will not work. the data source for the chart is a nother than the one for detail section, so Im using suppressing in detail and group.

Take a sub report and place in group header and limit the size of the sub report to the the extent required and don't touch the graph.
Now in sub report place detail data and display

Repeat subreport over multiple pages

I have a main report that has 3 sub reports in the details. I need the two sub reports, shown by the arrows on the right titled, exposure data and defect code, to repeat if the details of the sub report, shown on the left, extends more than 1 page.
Place the two subreports on the group-header instead, then set the following settings.
Activate Underlay Following Section on the group-header-section you placed the subreports
Activate Repeat group header on each page in group-expert (change group -> options tab).
If there isn't a group already, create one that doesn't change the structure of the report.
For example, if the data shown in the picture belongs to a specific location, then group by location-(id).

Crystal report - displaying details and report header in a same row

I have a requirement in crystal report, where we have to show details section and report header together, so data will be displayed in a same row and according to the input the detail section can also grow in both direction row wise and column wise. Please use the sample picture for reference.
Is there any way to keep them together like in HTML where we can divide any table into one or more columns?
Any kind of information would be appreciated. Thank you.
In crystal it is not possible to add detail section in report header part..
How ever you can split detail section to multiple layout!!
1 - Right click report body then select Section Expert.
2 - Select multiple column.
3 - Then on layout you can provide detail size and gap detail.
Also you can insert multiple detail section and can swap inside the detail section. but not in report header part
It is possible for this purpose you need to use sub reports.
create a sub report and place in header section. Now limit the width of the sub report to the extent you need.
In sub report place the fields in details and supress rest all sections.
Now you can see header and details in report header..
Can you share along with sub report what you want to view in header?
You can use sub-report or setting up the section expert option.
Go to section expert
step 1: Suppress page header
step 2: At report header mark Underlay Following Section
Section Expert

Set size of detail section in Crystal Report

I m generating Bill report using crystal report in VS2008..in that, details section size is dynamic.
i.e. depend on number of records, it changes. so if I've 10 records the report view is full page that is k ..but if i have 2 records in details sections, then whole page footer section getting stick to details page..so whole alignment is getting change
so is there any way to set details section fixed i.e. for 10 records and if records exceed more, then all records on same page and remaining data will go on next page i.e report footer, page footer.
Is there any setting in crystal report
Ok, i can give you some tips on how you can approach your desired outcome.
The Crystal Reports engine has the following characteristics.
The Report Header appears on the top side of the first page only.
The Page Header appears on the top side of every page (on the first page it is under the Report Header).
The Report Footer appears only once, on the bottom side of the detail section on the last page.
The Page Footer appears on the bottom side of every page.
There is a capability in every section that allows you to suppress it if you don't need it. It can be done by right clicking the bar of the section that you want to suppress and pressing the suppress choice from the menu that will appear.
Consider the 2 following cases.
If you want to achieve the first case, change the height of the Page Footer to a value that will allow only 10 records to show on the Details section, include all the footer information in the Page Footer and suppress the Report Footer. If you want the same result but with the footer information appearing only on the last page, right click the bar of the Page Footer and select Section Expert. From there, press the x+2 sign next to the Suppress CheckBox and add the following code there.
if pagenumber <> totalpagecount then
true
else
false
If you want to achieve the second case, change the height of the Page Footer to a value which will allow only 10 records to show on the Details section and include all the footer information in the Report Footer section.
In both cases the Report Header is suppressed.
Go to Section Expert
select report footer
Tick the Print at bottom page and Keep together option
Problem will be solved
First of all fix height detail section by right click on detail section Detail Section->Section Expert click on paging Tab->Check in New Page Before checkbox and beside it (x+2)button write formula-> (Suppose you want 8 rows to display in your report per page and additional rows(9th row,10th row and so on... to another page) IF Remainder (RecordNumber, 9) = 0 THEN TRUE ELSE FALSE so now your height is fixed.. and for blank rows suppose 2 records/rows are coming from data table/data source then from 8 fixed rows , 6 rows should be blank rows for that.. design your detail section with fields and keep report footer(section 4) blank with with some spaces(i want 8 rows fixed so keep size of 8 rows blank assuming in report footer) and put footer details in your section 5(page footer)..
if your header or footer is not visible on another page then put all header parts details in page header and footer details in page footer

bar chart in jasper idesigner printing twice in preview?

I have configured bar chart in idesigner but when I clcik the preview it is showing twice. Any idea why could this happen.
Thanks.
Try to put your graph component into the SUMMARY band because detail band is repeat the records for every row in dataset.
I think you have put the graph in detail band so ,If you really need to put it in the detail band, you can try set the table property "printWhenExpression" to $V{REPORT_COUNT} == 1
To set the property to make chart in Summary or in detail band, you can edit in XML code or through designer you can add bands and move charts.

Page header & footer on Summary band

I have read this thread:
http://jasperforge.org/plugins/espforum/view.php?group_id=83&forumid=101&topicid=67923
I would rather not repeat the page header and footer for each crosstab, as there are six of them, and if the header needs to change, I'd like to change it only once.
The problems include:
Putting the crosstabs on their own page (should be easy enough with a page break).
Making the crosstabs include the same header and footer as the rest of the report.
Reusing the header & footer from a single source.
Making the crosstab be shown before the data (not all that important, but would be nice).
The report appears as follows:
It would be fantastic to have the crosstab appear on a page by itself, including the same header and footer as the rest of the report, rather than looking like the image above.
The report is set up as follows:
Any ideas?
The solution involved these changes:
Provide a dummy query for the main report (e.g., SELECT 1 FROM DUAL)
Create a new subreport for the data details, based on the former query for the main report
Add a second detail band (Detail 2)
Place the six subreports in the first detail band (Detail 1)
Place the data details subreport in the second detail band (Detail 2)
Pass the parameters from the main report into the data details subreport
Reduce the data details subreport's margins to zero
Delete the Summary band (no longer required)
This allows full control over the crosstab's report position while reusing the same header and footer for both the crosstab and the data details.
