When releasing standalone messages extension on app store do I need iOS app screenshots? - app-store

I am releasing a standalone iOS messages extension on the app store meaning there is not an iOS app to go along with it. Do I have to include screenshots for the iOS app or can I just add the screenshots for the messages extension?
Thanks

If you don't have an iOS app, how would you add screenshots for an iOS app?
Besides:
For all iMessage apps and iOS extensions, provide separate sets of screenshots of your iMessage content for iPhone 6 Plus and iPad Pro. These screenshots will be used across device sizes. You can upload up to five screenshots per set to showcase the iMessage experience. You will need to upload your screenshots to both the App Preview and Screenshots section and the iMessage section of your app’s version page in My Apps on iTunes Connect.
When showing conversations in Messages, make sure the information and accounts you display are not real. Do not display phone numbers. For screenshot specifications, see the iTunes Connect Developer Guide.

Is there any guide to submit catalyst app?

We have created new app which support iphone, ipad and mac catalyst from xcode 11. We have also create apple distribution profile to upload binary. But at submission time apple says that beta binaries are not supported. I have used xcode 11 and if i will de select mac then i can submit build.
In developer apple i havent seen any guide on uploading mac catalyst apps. Anyone please help me out on this?
In order to upload apps converted with Catalyst to App Store,
you'll need to create a new Mac OS app entry in App Store Connect.
Simply click on the 'Plus' icon in AppStoreConnect, click on new MacOS
app.
In the existing App Store app page, click on the plus icon "VERSION OR PLATFORM", and select Mac OS.
Your Mac Catalyst app shares the same bundle ID as your iOS app. In your Xcode organizer, one of them shows in the iOS section and one in the macOS app section. Uploads from Xcode should automatically go into the same app record on App Store Connect.
You can then finish the details (Mac app screenshots, descriptions, etc.) in the app page and submit it for review.
There will be one apps displayed in your AppStoreConnect and 2 platforms in it, one for the iOS and one for the macOS.

iPhone only app rejected because it is a Universal binary

I just had an iPhone only App rejected by iTunes connect because...
In our review of your app, we found that it is a Universal app for both iPad and iPhone. Because it is set as a universal binary, your app requires screenshots from iPhone and iPad.
The app had previously been a universal binary (never previously approved) and I had previously uploaded an iPad screenshot (just a place holder) to allow me to upload the binary. (I had to upload then self reject a binary to test IAP.)
But as far as I can tell my app is a iphone only binary. When I run it on the iOS iPad simulator it runs at iPhone resolution with the 2x button. Yet when I upload this (I think) iPhone only binary to iTunes Connect it still asks for iPad screenshots.
In Xcode I have the following settings
targets->Build Settings->targetted device family = iPhone.
and
targets->Summary->Devices = iPhone.
And again it acts like an iPhone only app when I run it on the simulator. Are there any other setting in XCode or in iTunes Connect that I need to set? Thnx
EDIT
After my app was rejected I removed the placeholder iPad screenshots from iTunesConnect. (I had tried to do this several times before submitting the app, but was unable to. I even wrote a developers note to the reviewer hoping they wouldn't spike my app for that reason.) I also remove the ipad Default.png from my project. One of the two of those actions fixed it. I think because I had been testing the app as a universal it took a couple of submissions to for iTC to recognize that I was only uploading an iPhone version. Either way, it now recognizes it as a iphone only and was approved.

just set build target devices In Sumary to iPhone...make a check in plist... also just load .xib files iPhone, make a clean in your project and rebuild.. Check if you are not loading some target
You shouldn't believe what you see in targets->Summary. Especially, if you ever changed to "Universial" and back to "iPhone".
Instead of Summary you should always check targets->Info.
Also if you change Icons, Orientations, etc. often there are leftovers which you only find in Info

Some iPad users cannot see my iPhone application

I have a weird issue where I can see the Simplecue application on my iPad but others in my team cannot see it, we've also had some customers email us saying they cannot find it as well.
All of the users can find the application via their iPhones, iPods, and iTunes. So for a temporary solution, we've asked users to download and sync via iTunes to their iPad.
The only difference between my iPad and others, is my iPad is a 1st generation iPad. Should this matter?
If your app requires features that the iPad 1 does not support (front-facing or indeed any camera, iOS6) then it will not be visible in the App Store on that device.
There may reportedly be bugs with the current (Nov 2012, iOS 6.0.1) App Store app on the iPad, where it won't show, via search, some apps that have been released for sale by the developer.
A 1st gen iPad runs the older iOS 5.1, and thus may have a more reliable version of the App Store app.
But a direct itms URL from your web page (as viewed with an iPad's Safari) to the App Store app may work on both iPads.

Is iPhone 5 screen shots are mandatory for new version app submission?

I am uploading new binary for my already uploaded app on appstore it shows following errors
You must provide all required contact information. To edit your contact details, click Edit in the App Review section.
You must upload a large app icon that is 1024 x 1024 pixels. To upload the icon, click Edit in the Version Information section below.
However in my MetaData section there is option for iPhone 5 iPod touch (5 th generation) screen shots . But doesn't show any error in this section .
So i am confused do i need to upload the screen shots for iPhone 5 or not
Will my app gets rejected ?
Thanks in advance

The following was sent to developers in an e-mail after the iPhone announcement in September:
If you are updating your app for iPhone 5 and iPod touch (5th
generation), you must provide additional screenshots to support the
new screen dimensions for the App Store.
If your app is not optimized for this screen size then obviously you don't need to supply screenshots at that size.
If your app does support the 4-inch (iPhone 5 & 5th generation iPod touch) screen size, then yes, you must provide screenshots for the new screen size. It's likely that 4-inch screen support isn't detected in your app until they review it, which means that iTunes Connect will never show you an error about this - they just won't approve your app if you haven't supplied the correct screenshots.
Regarding the other errors, iTunes Connect was recently updated to accept contact information for those uploading apps (in case of review problems) - this is required for new apps and any edits to existing apps. Additionally, some time ago they began requiring 1024x1024 images for the "Large App Icon" commonly known as iTunesArtwork, so you'll need to provide this as well.

Make Your Apps Look Great on the Retina Display and iPhone 5
March 21, 2013
Starting May 1, new apps and app updates submitted to the App Store must be built for iOS devices with Retina display and iPhone apps must also support the 4-inch display on iPhone 5.
So, it looks like we are all going to have to support the 4 inch display. It was inevitable.

Distribution of universal iPhone & iPad App

I have created a universal app for iPhone & iPad. I have a confusion over here. That do I need to create a single .ipa file for both iPhone and iPad or two separate files need to be created. The application has same interface and same features no difference at all.
Also if I upload a single .ipa file on Apple App Store. Then what are the required steps to make it sure that the application will be available for both iPhone & iPad on Apple App Store. (like managing the screenshots etc).
I have searched the internet but not getting an easy answer for this.
If anyone has any idea then please explain it. There might be alot of people searching for this.
Thanks
If you have created a single universal app then you only need to upload one ipa. If you wish to have independed iPhone and iPad versions of your app, then you would upload two ipa's with different bundle id's.
However, with uploading a universal app the only additional requirements are that you make sure your app bundle contains properly linked xibs/storyboards for each device, proper imagery for every device you're supporting, and proper screenshots in iTunes Connect for both iPad and iPhone.
I'm confused with the same interface thing, if you mean same views, then your app will either be rejected or listed as iPhone app. When you change the app type to universal in info.plist, you don't have to do anything special, just create a single IPA and upload it. You will have to supply different images for iPad and iPhone version.
It will be automatically detected as universal app.
