How do I get Gatling reports to show URLs instead of request_0 etc? - scala

I'm new to Gatling, apologies if this is a complete noob question.
The "Details" tab of my Gatling report looks like this:
The left-hand menu contains all the requests that were made. My problem is that, in all but a few rare cases, they're just labelled "request_x" instead of the URL or filename. So where there is a bottleneck I can't tell what page or resource was causing it.
I found that if I manually edit the .scala file before running the scan, I can change each one by hand, e.g. if I change...

...to..
.exec(http(uri01)
.get(uri01)

...it seems to have the desired effect. But I don't want to have to change hundreds of these by hand every time I have a new test to run.
Surely there's a better way?
FWIW I'm generating this scala file using Gatling's "recorder" with an HAR file exported from Chrome, as opposed to running the recorder as a proxy. But I have tried the proxy option and got the same end result.

TTeeGrid is not displaying the data at runtime using data from REST

I created a simple RME for TTeeGrid, a descendant perhaps of TGrid in Firemonkey. As shown below, the data are displayed at design time but not at runtime except the headers.
I've been breaking my head over this for weeks already but not luck.
Let me know if you need more details but what you see in the image are all you get.
I just need help to have the data displayed at runtime as shown in the design time.

This issue is not the case with TPrototypeBindSource. The data shown in the design time are displayed at runtime. Something is wrong somewhere.
I've never used the TeeGrid before, but the following worked fine
first time for me in Delphi Tokyo:
Download the TeeGrid trial from Steema.Com & install.
Create new multi-device app and place a TeeGrid and a FDMemTable on the form.
Load FDMemTable1 with the file Parts.Fds from the Delphi samples Data directory. Note, I did not then create any FieldDefs as I mentioned in my comment earlier as what I'm describing works without them.
Set the DataSource property of TeeGrid1 to FDMemTable1. TeeGrid1 immediately
creates columns for each of the Parts fields and populates them with data - see
screenshot below. I don't ordinarily include screenshots but in this case thought
I would as what I got was so clearly at odds with what you've reported.
Your TeeGrid etc are obviously more complicated than mine. so the best I can
suggest is that you backtrack to step 2 and see if you can replicate my result
with your data (either at design time or run time). It might be worth loading
your FDMemTable with some data at design time, as my impression is that live bindings
is less grief-prone when the datasource has some data.
Incidentally, fwiw the results of my own attempts to set up live bindings even with a regular TGrid have been rather patchy, until I discovered that instead of messing with the LB components myself, simply starting with a fresh TGrid, right-clicking on it and leaving the Live Bindings Wizard
to do its stuff consistently works fine.

What does the parameter "cvid" in Bing search engine stands for?

As I searching something with Bing and I open the Chrome development tools. Here is the request url:

So, what does the parameter "cvid" stands for? It seems if i don't set a cvid,i can't get the complete result html in my program.
By the way, the cvid is calculated by the browser automaticlly, so how to calculate?
In the Bing search context, cvid represents the JavaScript parameter ConversationId. Bing uses this key to identify your search result collection as its reply to your query, q. Similarly, pq is PartialQuery. These and other parameters may also apply to different kinds of searches, such as image or video searches.
Next, qs is your query's SuggestionType, sc shows your SuggestionCount, and from the suggestion list (dropped down, if enabled), sp shows the SuggestionPosition you chose. In your case, you did not select a suggestion, so &sp=-1. Toward the end of your string, sk is the SkipValue, because you might skip through your result pages, first tells the issuer how many results belong on the first page, and I'll let you figure out what FORM means. ;)

Navigate to Bing, conduct a search, choose some options, change your displays, and change some search types. Next, open file explorer and navigate to your Windows OS equivalent of the following path.

Next, you may need to adjust your View temporarily to "Show hidden files, folders, and drives." View tab > Options > Change... > View tab again, and click the bullet to "Show...".

I'm pretty sure it's an encryption mechanism for bing a la public key cryptography, though I could be wildly wrong. There is another field called pq - and p's and q's are used a lot in crypto theory.
The field is 32 nibbles (e.g. 8D0E519A91024A08B075654D006C0A14) which equals 128 bits. This number results in some arithmetic operation with the binary value of your search and bing's private key - thus making url generation quite difficult.

Why would LayoutObjectNames return an empty string in FileMaker 14?

I'm seeing some very strange behavior with FileMaker 14. I'm using LayoutObjectNames for some required functionality. On the development system it's working fine. It returns the list of named objects on the layout.
I close the file, zip it up and send it to the client, and that required functionality isn't working. He sends the file back and I open it and get a data viewer up. The function returns nothing. I go into layout mode and confirm that there are named objects on the layout.
The first time this happened and I tried recovering the file. In the recovered file it worked, so I assumed some corruption had happened on his end. I told him to trash the file I had given him and work with a new version I supplied. The problem came up again.
This morning he sent me the oldest version that the problem manifested in. I confirmed the problem, tried recovering it again, but this time it didn't fix the problem.
I'm at a loss. It works in the version I send him, doesn't on his system. We're both using FileMaker 14, although I'm using Advanced. My next step will be to work from a served file instead of a local one, but I have never seen this type of behavior in FileMaker. Has anyone seen anything similar? Any ideas on a fix? I'm almost ready to just scrap the file and build it again from scratch since we're not too far into the project.

There is a known issue with the Get (FileName) function when the file name contains dots (other that the one before the extension). I will amend my answer later with more details and a possible solution (I have to look it up).
Here's a quote from 2008:
This is a known issue. It affects not only the ValueListItems()
function, but any function that requires the file name. The solution
is to include the file extension explicitly in the file name. This
works even if you use Get (FileName) to return the file name
dynamically:
ValueListItems ( Get ( FileName ) & ".fp7" ; "MyValueList" )
Of course, this is not required if you take care not to use period
when naming your files.

Apparently the issue is still with us - I wonder if the solution is still the same (I cannot test this at the moment).

Cleanup for running spec files in series in Protractor

I am running multiple specs using a Protractor configuration file as follows:
...
specs: [abc.js , xyz.js]
...
After abc.js is finished I want to reset my App to an initial state from where the next spec xyz.js can kick off.
Is there a well defined way of doing so in Protractor? I'm using Jasmine as a test framework.
You can use something like this:
specs: ['*.js']
But I recommend you to separate the specs with a suffix, such as abc-spec.js and xyz-spec.js. Thus your specs will be like this:
specs: ['*-spec.js']
This is done to avoiding the config file to be 'run'/tested if you put the config file in the same folder as your tests/spec files.
Also there is downside that the test will be run in 0 -> 9 and A -> Z order. E.g. abc-spec.js will run first then xyz-spec.js. If you want to define your custom execution order, you may prefix your spec files' names, for instance: 00-xyz-spec.js and 01-abc-spec.js.
To restart the app, sadly there is no common way (source) but you need to work around to achieve it. Use something like
browser.get('http://localhost:3030/');
browser.waitForAngular();
whenever you need to reload your app. It will force the page to be reloaded. But if your app uses cookie, you will also need to clean it out in order to make it completely reset.
I used a different approach and it worked for me. Inside my first spec I am adding Logout testcase which logouts from the app and on reaching the log in page, just clear the cookie before login again using following:
browser.driver.manage().deleteAllCookies();
The flag named restartBrowserBetweenTests can also be specified in a configuration file. However, this comes with a valid warning from the Protractor team:
// If [set to] true, protractor will restart the browser between each test.
// CAUTION: This will cause your tests to slow down drastically.
If the speed penalty is of no concern, this could help.
If the above doesn't help and you absolutely want to be sure that the state of the app (and browser!) is clean between specs, you need to roll out your own shellscript which gathers all your *_spec.js files and calls protractor --specs [currentSpec from a spec list/test suite].

ScalaCheck generator for web URLs

Wondering if anyone had to do this in using ScalaCheck: Create a custom generator for spitting out large number of URLs. Actually there is a caveat to this that I want to test a service which accepts ONLY valid/working web URLs. I am thinking if I get a large number of valid external/WEB URLs in a file and somehow feed in to the custom generator, only can make this possible?

does this sound like a reasonable and actually more importantly doable approach?
UrlGen seems to give that, since uses a list of top urls, but cannot find the artifact in maven repo anywhere. Raised an issue.

You can always add .suchThat(exists), where exists does make sure the URL exists during the test or better yet do it once, before the start of the tests, i.e. making sure all these guys exist.
