I'm banging my head against a wall trying to solve something I'm sure is simple. I'm using Access 2016 and trying to build a form which essentially has a filter combo box in the header.
Let's say the form is called myForm and the comboBox cboStatus. The query contains a field called status.
In my query, I basically have SELECT * FROM myQuery WHERE [myQuery].[status]=[Forms]![myForm]![cboStatus]. Eventually, I intend to add a VBA-based event on the COmboBox to update the query when it changes, but for now, I select a value and hit Refresh All on the form, just to test it.
No matter what value I have in the ComboBox, no records display in the form. What am I missing? Thanks in advance!
If status is a text field then you need
SELECT * FROM myQuery WHERE [myQuery].[status]= "'" & [Forms]![myForm]![cboStatus] & "'"
I think I have solved it! I didn't define the form element (comboBox) as a parameter in the SQL query. Adding:
PARAMETERS [Forms]![myForm]![cboStatus] Text ( 255 );
seems to have fixed it! Wanted to make sure I responded in case anyone else has the same issue!

I need your help. I have an Active Form in my Yii2 application and when I submit my form it shows values (no matter empty or not) of every field of the form to the GET-string so it looks like

This is not the yii2 problem. It is a native html form works like this. If you really do want to exclude all not filled inputs from the query string you could filter all this params via jQuery and set them to disable state, here is the code

I have designed a report to pull data fields based on a record selection formula that uses a "like" operator that looks for a substring match in a particular field's data, as so:
{rct.serno} like "*9842*"
(due to the free-format way data is stored in the given field, I have to do a substring match to find the relevant rows in the DB.)
This works fine. Instead of manually editing the record selection formula every time, though, I thought to use a Parameter field ("{?TagNum}") to prompt the user for the desired string, and then use that in the record selection formula like:
{rct.serno} like "*{?TagNum}*"
Crystal does not throw an error when I save this record selection formula, but it does not return any records after the report is refreshed, and a parameter value is entered. How can I properly use the parameter value in a record selection substring match?
You're really close to the solution. You can modify the formula in the Select Expert. Just click the Select Expert icon (or from the Report menu). Then click the Formula Editor button. Concatenate or add an asterisk onto the beginning and end of the parameter using the + operator, like this:
{Customers.LastName} like "*" + {?pLastName} + "*"

using Ajax I filled Country, State and city dropdownlist. On land change state is filled and on state change city is filled properly.
Then when I try to save page I face this :Invalid postback or callback argument.
Searched and found out that this is due to change in ddl.selectedvalu change from initial value that is assigned by asp.net.
Now my question is that how can I let asp.net know that the new ddl value is valid?

In many pages it is recommended to use EnableEventValidation="false", but I prefer not to use it.
Some say that use Render and add value to notify .Net like this:

I am stumped beyond belief.
I have a select box being generated by the cakephp form helper. I am feeding it an array of options, and passing an empty value... pretty standard stuff.
However, my "empty" field is showing up at the very bottom of the list.. not the top. So when the field loads, it just defaults to the first option... which is not the "empty" option.
Not a whole lot of room for error on the code here..

The only small item that might be important, is that $categories is a multi-array, so the select box has optgroups & options.
Is there some quirk/bug out there that I do not know of that is trying to force me to sneak into my scotch supply a few hours ahead of schedule?

It turned out to be the data (options array).
Is there an option with an empty key? probably the last one then.
this lead to the scenario I remember and seems to be the exact same thing.
the form helper will override this empty key value pair then and not create a second one.
without more infos from your end this will be difficult to solve.
I'm new to Access and this is the problem I'm suffering: I have four tables - Task, Person, Role, and TaskPerson (mapping table). I have a form that at the top has a unbound combo box displaying a list of people from Person. In the body of the form I have a query pulling from the Task and TaskPerson tables that is embedded as a datasheet. The fields from TaskPerson perform a lookup on Person and Role to display the actual values. Each task can have multiple people assigned to it and each person can have multiple roles. I am looking to pick a name from the combo box with the datasheet updating to only show the tasks associated with that person (i.e. matching the name from the combo box to the name in the person field (which is a lookup) on the form and only showing those tasks).
I have tried adjusting the Record Source for the query so the person field criteria would pull from the combo box using
'Forms![Task Form]![Combo11]'
but that hasn't worked. I have also tried a version of this answer:

While the code is not balking, it also isn't grabbing the selected name from the combo box, so it doesn't update. A likely factor is when I type Me.Combo11.Text, it doesn't actually display Combo11 as an option. I tried typing it in, in hopes of working, but I know that is a bit foolish.
Any detailed answers would be appreciated. I'm still learning my way around and I get lost a bit easily.

The first method is the easier one.
In the query you have
WHERE TaskPerson = Forms![Task Form]![Combo11]
Note that there are no ' around the combo reference. With 'Forms![Task Form]![Combo11]' the whole thing is interpreted as string, so it doesn't work.
Then in Combo11_AfterUpdate you simply have
Me.Requery
Disadvantage of this method: you always have to select a person, or the form will be empty.
The second method:
Your query lists all record, the combobox applies a filter. Or removes it, if the user clears the combobox.
I suggest going back to the answer you used, and only replace
Combo_Reported_LOB_Selection by Combo11
and
[ReportedLOB] by [TaskPerson]
And the code doesn't go into Form_SelectionChange(), but into Combo11_AfterUpdate()
