Can't run Play in dev mode under Ubuntu - scala

I've tried to run the project 'play-scala' from activator projects with the following:
ran 'activator new' a console, choosed 'play-scala' template, 'activator run' in the project folder.
But I always get the exception:
java.lang.RuntimeException: No main class detected.

It's fixed by removing the folder .sbt in home directory.

Adding dependency to Apache Toree fails on import

After adding a dependency in my Jupyter notebook using Apache Toree Scala kernel, for example vegas:
%AddDeps org.vegas-viz vegas_2.11 0.3.11 --transitive
Then when I try to import something from this JAR, I get a long stacktrace. In the notebook, I do:
import vegas._
import vegas.render.WindowRenderer._
The command line (where I started Jupyter) shows a long stacktrace:

I'm using Jupyter 4.3.0 on Linux Mint 18.1 (based on Ubuntu 16.04) and Apache Toree version:
VERSION: 0.2.0.dev1-incubating
COMMIT: 9b577f19df83
I suspect the error I get may be related to an incompatibility between Apache Toree and the scala version I have... Or something... Any suggestions on how to proceed with this? Many thanks in advance :-)
You are right this is due to dependency conflict. I was facing the same problem. It was due to conflict between scala-reflect-2.11.6 and scala-reflect-2.11.8. I had to manually install vegas-viz and its dependencies to local maven repo. Then added vegas-viz as sparks.jars.pacakages in configuration file instead of loading it on the run.
Or you can exclude of the version.

error starting 'sbt' inside project directory

I am learning functional programming on Coursera with Scala. To attempt an assignment, I need to start 'sbt' in a project directory. I am following the instructions here: https://class.coursera.org/progfun-004/assignment/view?assignment_id=2
This is the error I got. I am sure that there's a build.sbt file and src folder within the project directory, but somehow sbt fails on me. Any ideas?

try to remove your local ivy directory ~/.ivy2/, you may have some broken jars here. also check your environment variables related to sbt and scala. you can check whether it's your project problem or not by running sbt outside of sbt project, if error still appears, than it's sbt installation or environment problem

How to build MongoDB connector for hadoop latest version (1.2.1)

I'm trying to build the MongoDB connector for Hadoop 1.2.1 from the montogdb instruction page (https://github.com/mongodb/mongo-hadoop) but i'm getting following error. one thing to mention, hadoop 1.2.1 is not included in the list of supported version. I tried to install 1.1 but it is not included in hadoop download page or any of the mirrors, anyone has an ideal if it is possible to build the connector for hadoop 1.2.1?

You can find older hadoop releases on the archive server. I was able to get the mongodb hadoop connector working with version 1.1.2.
http://archive.apache.org/dist/hadoop/core/ or there's an archive link at the top of the page on any mirror.
