java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: GC overhead limit exceeded in Spring Tool Suite - spring-tool-suite

Even after setting the -Xms1024m ,-Xmx4096m,-XX:-UseGCOverheadLimit in sts configuration file, I am still getting the java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: GC overhead limit exceeded in Spring Tool Suite
Can anybody tell me what should I do to fix this error..

The java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: GC overhead limit exceeded error is displayed when your application has exhausted pretty much all the available memory and GC has repeatedly failed to clean it.
if you just wished to get rid of the “java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: GC overhead limit exceeded” message, adding the following to your startup scripts would achieve just that:
-XX:-UseGCOverheadLimit

Take this files unzipes them and parse them into HDFS with a job. Inside the job exists a schema check so if something is not

There are only few files which cause this error but I want to find a solution for further similar situation.
In the TAC Job Conductor, for a selected job, you can add JVM parameters.
Add the -Xmx parameter to specify the maximum heap size. The default value depends on various factors like the JVM release/vendor, the actual memory of the machine, etc... In your situation, the java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: Java heap space reveals that the default value is not enough for this job so you need to override it.
For example, specify -Xmx2048m for 2048Mb or 2gb
#DrGenius Talend has java based environment and some default jvm heap is awarded during initialization, as in for any java program. Default for Talend - Min:256MB (xms) & max:1024MB.. As per your job requirement, you can set the range of min/max jvm like min of 512 mb & max 8gb..
This can be modified from Job run tab - advance setting.. Even this can be parameterized and can be overwritten using variables set in env. Exact value can be seen from job build -> _run.sh ..
But be careful not to set high as too high so that other jobs running on same server is depleted of memory.

how to reduce resident memory size in weblogic server

i am monitoring weblogic server using jconsole tool. i found there is no memory leak in the heap. but i see resident memory size is growing very high and it is not coming down eventhough heap comes under 1GB. I have 6GB of heap size and 12GB of RAM. single java process is holding most of the memory. I am using weblogic9 and jdk1.5.
Once the server is restarted memory is coming down and again it started growing and reaching maximum within low time span.
-xms1024m -xmx6144m
Can someone help in resolving this issue?..Thanks in advance.

How to identify and monitor "stop the world" garbage collection / memory leak in Java third party "blackbox" Restful application

I have been given an interesting task of identifying a stop the world garbage collection / memory leak in a third party "black box" restful application, which is in production.
The application is load balanced, and recently, the application had a stop-the-world garbage collection on all server instances, which led to a production service outage.
I (we) don't have access to the third-party code.
This is what I have done so far:
I have been ensuring the JVM command line parameters are correct. The container is Jetty, OpenJdk 8, with the CMS garbage collector.
I have successfully been using VisualVM, with Memory Pools and Visual GC plugins to profile the app (-verbosegc is enabled).
My intention is to look at the amount of traffic we get in production (for each API endpoint), and run a soak test. I will increase the test load, with the intention of causing the stop the world GC to happen.
There is no specific out-of-memory exception, "just" a stop-the-world, with the application threads suspended. After 5-10 minutes, the application starts to accept requests again (502 on the load balancer go).

I am at a disadvantage not being able to look at the source code.
Can someone please give me any further tips, or strategies on how to track down what is causing the stop-the-world GC, and memory leak.

You are getting that error because your server used up all of its available memory (in your case, 512mb). You can increase Xmx param, which sets the maximum amount of memory your server can use.
OutOfMemoryError can happen because of insufficient memory assignment, or memory leaks (objects that java's garbage collector can't delete, despite not being needed).
There is no magic rule to calculate those params, they depend on what you are deploying to jboss, how much concurrent users, etc, etc, etc.
You can try increasing Xmx param, and check with jvisualvm the memory usage, see how it behaves..

Openshift - java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: unable to create new native thread"

I have hosted my app on Openshift PAAS. My app does not create thread explicity. I have been getting following error

SEVERE: The exception contained within MappableContainerException could not be mapped to a response, re-throwing to the HTTP container
java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: unable to create new native thread
How do I resolve the error? I don't have the access to change ulimit as I am using hosted server.
Generally, you face “java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: Unable to create new native thread” whenever JVM is asking a new thread from the OS. Whenever the underlying OS cannot allocate a new native thread, this OutOfMemoryError will be thrown. The exact limit for native threads is platform dependent.
But in general, the situation causing the java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: Unable to create new native thread goes through the following phases:
A new Java thread is requested by application running inside the JVM
JVM native code proxies the request to create a new native thread to the OS
OS tries to create a new native thread which requires memory to be allocated to the thread
The OS will refuse native memory allocation either because the 32-bit Java process size has depleted its memory address space e.g. (2-4) GB process size limit has been hit or the virtual memory of the OS has been fully depleted
The java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: Unable to create new native thread error is thrown.
More often than not, the limits on new native threads hit by the OutOfMemoryError indicate a programming error. When your application is spawning thousands of threads then chances are that something has gone terribly wrong – there are not many applications out there which would benefit from such a vast amount of threads
