What are the possible ways to override a function in Magento2? - magento2

How can I override a constructor in Magento2? I want to override the execute function of Magento\Customer\Controller\Account\LoginPost class. And while doing that I want to use Magento\Customer\Api\Data\GroupInterface for changing customers group. I can use objectManager but that is not recommended. So what are the other ways?

There are two ways to do that:
create a new module, create a new class that would extend from Magento\Customer\Controller\Account\LoginPost and override constructor and execute method,
use a plugin, since the execute method is public, then you can inject Magento\Customer\Api\Data\GroupInterface inside the plugin constructor.
The second option is much easier, go with that. You can read more about plugins here. There is no example with constructor, but you can add it and dependency injection would work there as usual.

Proper way to customize Spark ML estimator (e.g. GaussianMixture) by modified its private method?

My code use apache.ml.clustering.GaussianMixture, but its init method private def initRandom(...) does not work well, so I want to customize a new init method.
At first I want to "extends" class GuassianMixture, but initRandom is a private method.
Then I tried another way, it is to set initial GMM, but sadly source code says that TODO: SPARK-15785 Support users supplied initial GMM.
I've also tried to copy the code of class GuassianMixture for my custom class, but there are too many things attached to it. GaussianMixture.scala comes with sort of classes and traits, some of which are only accessible within ML packages.
I solved it by myself. Here is my solution.
I created class CustomGaussianMixture which extends GaussianMixture from official package org.apache.spark.ml.clustering.
And within my project, I created a new package, also named as org.apache.spark.ml.clustering(to prevent deal with scope of sort of complexity classes/traits/objects in org.apache.spark.ml.clustering). And place my custom class in it.
The next thing is to override the method(fit) call initRandom, a non-private method, so I can override it. Specifically, Just write my new init method in class CustomGaussianMixture, and copy method fit from official source code in GaussianMixture.scala to class CustomGaussianMixture, remember to modify code in CustomGaussianMixture.fit() to call my custom init method.
At last, just use CustomGaussianMixture instead of GaussianMixture when needed.

backpack for laravel: how to customize routes?

We need to change every <anything>/show routes to something localized.
How can we customize the show string in something like dettagli ?
You can do in two way:
By creating a custom operation, starting from the default Show operation. Copy-paste the code of the ShowOperation.php in your project, and change the route. Then throughout your project use your ShowOperation, instead of the one provided by Backpack.
By overriding the protected function setupShowRoutes($segment, $routeName, $controller) in your CrudController. If you have that method in your ProductCrudController for example, your method will be run instead of the one in the ShowOperation trait. However, this needs to be done in all CrudControllers individually, so it's less DRY.

How to define own functions in zend framework

Actually I wanted to know that is there any way to define and call a function in Zend framework which does not need to put with $this like pr() function in cake php. I want to define a such a function which can be called directly in all controllers and views in zend framework. Can it be done by putting all functions in helper and use them without writing $this in front of them.
For example I wanted to make a function arrprint() to print the array in helper and use it globally with only by writing simply arrprint();
Please help me
You could just create a file anywhere and put the function in there. The just include it like you would any other files.
Or create a library called Utils and put your custom functions there as static and call them using:
Utils::myFunction();
Contrary to cake zf does not enforce much anything. You can leverage the framework to do whatever you want.
BTW $this is just a pointer to the current class and when you use $this->myFunction(); it's because that function is a member of the current class (or its parent).

Apply a Form Schema Formatter to all forms?

I just created a custom schema formatter by extending sfWidgetFormSchemaFormatter for my forms. However, what is sad to know is that to use it, I need to specify that in the configure() method of every form I use, which is kinda painful.
Writing this in the BaseForm is a good idea, but the problem is that ModelForm & BaseModelForm don't implicitly call the BaseForm :(
Is there a way out to do this generically?
All doctrine forms extend from BaseFormDoctrine you can put it in the setup method.
Make sure that if you overload setup() any where else to call self::parent()

How to carry out custom initialisation with autofac

I'm adding autofac to an existing project and some of the service implementations require their Initialize method to be called and passed configuration information. Currently I'm using the code:
builder.Register(context =>
{
var service =
new SqlTaxRateProvider(context.Resolve<IUserProvider>());
service.Initialize(config);
return service;
}
).As<ITaxService>()
.SingleInstance();
which works but I'm still creating the object myself which is what I'm trying to get away from this and allow autofac to handle it for me. Is it possible to configure a post create operation that would carry out the custom initialisation?
To give you an idea of what I'm after ideally this would be the code:
builder.RegisterType<SqlTaxRateProvider>()
.As<ITaxService>()
.OnCreated(service=> service.Initialize(config))
.SingleInstance();
Update:
I am using Autofac-2.1.10.754-NET35
.OnActivating(e => e.Instance.Initialize(...))
should do the trick.
You might also investigate the Startable module (see the Startable entry in the Autofac wiki).
Mark's suggestion to do initialisation in the constructor is also a good one. In that case use
.WithParameter(new NamedParameter("config", config))
to merge the config parameter in with the other constructor dependencies.
