How to log all axios calls from one place in code - axios

I am using axios for a react application and I would like to log all axios calls that I'm making anywhere in the app. I'm already using a single global instance of axios via the create function and I am able to log a generic console.log. However I would like more info like function being called, parameters, etc.

The best way to do this would be an interceptor. Each interceptor is called before a request/response. In this case a logging interceptor would be.
axios.interceptors.request.use(request => {
console.log('Starting Request', JSON.stringify(request, null, 2))
return request
})
axios.interceptors.response.use(response => {
console.log('Response:', JSON.stringify(response, null, 2))
return response
})
or something to that effect.
It's good that you're using a new instance of axios:
const api = axios.create({
timeout: 1000
})
That way you can call
api.interceptors[...]

Use axios-debug-log
npm install --save axios-debug-log
require('axios-debug-log') before any axios call
Set the environment variable DEBUG=axios
By default, you'll see logs like the following:
axios POST /api/auth/login +0ms
axios 200 (POST http://localhost:8080/api/auth/login) +125ms
axios POST /api/foo +0ms
axios 200 (POST http://localhost:8080/api/foo) +15ms
Refer to the docs for configuration and customization options.

It looks like you can intercept all requests using an "interceptor", and log inside of it: https://github.com/mzabriskie/axios#interceptors

Use axios-logger
When you send a request in nodejs, you need to show the log to the console.

You can try wrap the axios.request function in a Promise.
function loggedRequest(config) {
return new Promise((resolve, reject) => {
axios.request(config)
.then((res) => {
// log success, config, res here
resolve(res);
})
.catch(err => {
// same, log whatever you want here
reject(err);
})
})
}

Here's an NPM package for MySQL that let's you log all axios requests https://www.npmjs.com/package/axios-logger-mysql , I hope this helps.

Request works on Postman/Browser, but it doesn't work with axios

I make a GET request to this URL: https://api.mexc.com/api/v3/depth?symbol=BTCUSDT, if I use Postman or just paste it on my browser, it works, but if I use axios like this, it fails:
try {
const { data } = await axios.get(
'https://api.mexc.com/api/v3/depth?symbol=BTCUSDT'
);
console.log('data', data);
} catch (err) {
console.log(`Something went wrong:`, err);
}
You can test it on this link: https://stackblitz.com/edit/js-test-axios-njrh3z?file=index.js
Can someone explain me why please?
Mexc open api required a apikey for use they api.
https://mxcdevelop.github.io/apidocs/#api-key
If you log data response in axios, you will see this in console.
You don't have permission to access "http://api.mexc.com/api/v3/depth?" on this server.<P>\n
Let get an api key then use them api

How to get headers from AxiosResponse-Observable?

Using NestJS, Axios returns an Observable<AxiosResponse>.
How can I get the headers of a GET- or HEAD-Request?
Lets say I make a HEAD-request:
import { HttpService } from '#nestjs/axios';
const observable = this.httpService.head(uri);
How can I get the headers from the result?
Update:
I found a nice workaround that just works with a single line of code.
There is another library called https with is more powerful:
import http from "https";
await http.request(uri, { method: 'HEAD' }, (res) => {
console.log(res.headers);
}).on('error', (err) => {
console.error(err);
}).end();
The headers of the response are available in the subscribe callback with the headers property.
this.httpService.head(uri).subscribe(res => {
console.log(res.headers)
});
Playground
According to https://github.com/axios/axios#request-config:
For request headers you should use something like this:
this.httpService.axiosRef.interceptors.request.use(function (config) {
// Do something before request is sent
console.log(config);
return config;
}, function (error) {
// Do something with request error
return Promise.reject(error);
});
You should use it onModuleInit (to prevent working a few interceptors in a time)
Also you can make own module like in this answer: https://stackoverflow.com/a/72543771/4546382
For the response headers you can just use response.headers

Does testcafe support testing of rest api

Tests hang in the testcafe browser when you try to test a rest api url directly.
I am trying to run a test against my rest API endpoint using request hooks, but when I run the test from the command line, the browser opens the API endpoint and loads it and hangs. The test doesn't pass or fail and hangs. The rest API endpoint just returns a JSON response.
const logger = RequestLogger('https://example.com/search/suggestions?search=testkeyword');
fixture `test`
.page('https://example.com/search/suggestions?search=testkeyword');
test
.requestHooks(logger)
('test', async t => {
// Ensure that the response has been received and that its status code is 200.
await t.expect(logger.contains(record => record.response.statusCode === 200)).ok();
const logRecord = logger.requests[0];
console.log(logRecord.userAgent);
console.log(logRecord.request.url);
console.log(logRecord.request.method);
console.log(logRecord.response.statusCode);
});
I expect the test to pass checking for 200 status code, but the test hangs without showing pass/fail. Does testcafe support testing of rest API endpoints? I have checked this issue - https://github.com/DevExpress/testcafe/issues/1471 where it says testcafe doesn't support non-html pages. Please confirm.
You are right, TestCafe is intended to work with html pages, but it will use the "about:blank" page if you don't define any url. You can use the regular node.js HTTP API without request hooks for this case. Look at the following example:
import http from 'http';
const getResponseData = (url) => new Promise((resolve, reject) => {
http.get(url, res => {
const { statusCode } = res;
const contentType = res.headers['content-type'];
res.setEncoding('utf8');
let rawData = '';
res.on('data', (chunk) => { rawData += chunk; });
res.on('end', () => resolve({ statusCode, contentType, rawData }));
}).on('error', e => reject(e));
});
fixture `Test REST API`;
test('Simple Test', async t => {
const response = await getResponseData('http://example.com/api/1');
await t
.expect(response.statusCode).eql(200);
});
TestCafe 1.20.0+ offers the t.request method. You can use it for REST API testing. In other words, you can incorporate API testing right into your existing functional TestCafe tests. You no longer need to use any third-party libraries.
You can read about the API testing feature in the corresponding guide.

Service in vue2JS - error in created hook

I'm new to vue2JS and currently I am trying to create my very first service in vue2 ever.
I've created basic file api.js with this code:
import axios from 'axios';
export default () => {
return axios.create({
baseURL: 'http://localhost:8080/',
timeout: 10000,
headers: {
'Accept': 'application/json',
'Content-Type': 'application/json',
}
})
}
Code above is basic axios configuration which will be used in every service across entire app.
I import this file into my service:
import api from '../api.js';
export default {
getLatest () {
return api().get(`http://localhost/obiezaca/ob_serwer/api/article/getLatest.php`, {
headers: {
'Content-Type': 'application/json'
}
})
.then(function (response) {
console.log(response.data);
})
.catch(function (error) {
console.log(error);
});
}
}
Code above is responsible for making http request to backend rest API which give JSON in response.
And then finally I want to use this service inside my component <script></script> tags:
<script>
import { getLatest } from '../../../services/articles/getLatest';
export default {
data () {
return {
articles: []
}
},
created () {
const getLatestService = new getLatest();
console.log(getLatestService);
}
}
</script>
Here I want to execute code from service and actually execute this http request then save response in getLatestService constant and then console.log it and I should be able to see JSON in my browser console.
This doesn't work and give me this error in chrome console:
[Vue warn]: Error in created hook: "TypeError: WEBPACK_IMPORTED_MODULE_0__services_articles_getLatest.a is not a constructor"
And this error in command line:
39:35-44 "export 'getLatest' was not found in '../../../services/articles/getLatest'
Please help me to solve this problem. Additionally I want to refactor my code from service (second one) to use async await but I just can't find good example which would show me way to accomplish that.
EDIT 22.11.17
I added error which show in command line and { } when importing in component. I still didn't solve the problem.
EDIT 24.11.17
Looking for an answer I add more explanation of code I've posted and screenshot of files structure if maybe it can help.
I have check your code and what i can see is, in your api.js you have used
baseURL: 'http://localhost:8080/',
and in your service file
return api().get(`http://localhost/obiezaca/ob_serwer/api/article/getLatest.php`
In your service file you have not define your localhost port, i think it should be like
return api().get(http://localhost:8080/obiezaca/ob_serwer/api/article/getLatest.php
If above is not an your issue then you should try
const getLatestService = getLatest();
Because getLatest() is a function and not an object.
This might solve your error issue.

Passport and SailsJS, how to get isAuthenticated() test to pass

My code keeps failing here when the user tries to login:
isAuthenticated: function (req, res) {
if (req.isAuthenticated()) { return res.json(req.user); }
else { return res.send(401); }
},
It FAILS and I get GET http://localhost:1337/user/authenticated 401 (Unauthorized) in the console, even though the user has entered in a correct email and password.
Where in the code makes that test pass?
I have the related StackOverflow question with more info HERE.
The problem was that my frontend application has a different origin than my backend application, so the AJAX requests will not include the session cookie and req.isAuthenticated() will never return true.
Use the withCredentials options to force it.
$http({ withCredentials: true, ... })
