ECLIPSE NEON.2 updates failing - eclipse

I'm trying to install an update of the STS in Eclipse NEON.2 (on MacOS Sierra) via: Help > Install New Software --> https://dist.springframework.org/snapshot/IDE/nightly.
Then I get: 'Install Software has encountered a problem. An error occurred while installing the items'
An error occurred while installing the items
session context was:(profile=_Applications_eclipse_Eclipse.app_Contents_Eclipse, phase=org.eclipse.equinox.internal.p2.engine.phases.Install, operand=null --> [R]com.fasterxml.jackson.core.jackson-annotations 2.5.0.v201504151636, action=org.eclipse.equinox.internal.p2.touchpoint.eclipse.actions.InstallBundleAction).
Could not acquire the framework manipulator service.

This issue also arose when trying to install the Buildship Gradle Integration 2.0 plugin for Eclipse.
Then I tried to install any random plugin, and got the same problem.
I imagine this is a permissions issue, but even when I tried to run eclipse using the sudo command, I was still getting the above error when trying to do the installations.
Has anybody come across this issue? Any help on the matter would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Eclipse 2022-03 : java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: org/eclipse/tm4e/ui/utils/ContentTypeHelper Error

I am currently facing error in eclipse while opening yaml as well as xml files.
Error is java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: org/eclipse/tm4e/ui/utils/ContentTypeHelper.
I installed Eclipse Docker Tooling 5.6.0.20220382138 extension for Dockerfile support via eclipse marketplace.
After installation, I have started seeing above error. So I uninstalled above plugin to see if that will be of any help but still even after uninstallation, error didn't disappear.
I referred this link & installed extension but it is of no help.
Platform : MacOS
Eclipse : 2022-03 (4.23.0)
For this specific issue, I end up re-installing eclipse from eclipse installer as I tried below mentioned things & it still didn't worked:
Installed https://download.eclipse.org/tm4e/releases/0.4.5/ .
Uninstalled above version & installed latest release of tm4e but no success.
Uninstalled tm4e completely which started giving me issues where I was unable to save any changes in java class files. Workspace got freeze after this.

Upgrade from Eclipse Mars to Photon on Ubuntu cause problems

Hi I am wondering if anyone found some similar issues upgrading from ubuntu machine.
I upgraded from eclipse mars to eclipse photon and when I try to run my Tomcat 8 server I get the following error.
Plug-in "org.eclipse.jst.server.tomcat.core" was unable to instantiate class "org.eclipse.jst.server.tomcat.core.internal.TomcatLaunchConfigurationDelegate". org.eclipse.jst.server.tomcat.core.internal.TomcatLaunchConfigurationDelegate.allowAdvancedSourcel
I have tried updating all repo's to no success, I read some threads about WTP ServerTools so I tried upgrading to version 3.10 and this will not update for me either, any ideas would be grateful.
Or should I just do a reinstall to the version I had working, would properly save time in the long run
I'm having the same issue. I upgraded from within eclipse (Oxygen) by entering the new repository location.
Java 8 / Ubuntu 18.04
I then couldn't start tomcat with the above noted error.
I just ran apt update & apt dist-upgrade but it didn't pull down any relevant packages.
I then ran the 'Help | Check for Updates' option in eclipse and it installed some wtp tool updates. I then deleted the Server instance in eclipse and re-created it.
Tomcat now starts correctly.
Summary:
Run 'Help | Check for Updates' in eclipse and it looks like that will fix your problem.

IBM Worklight 6.0 - "Error: Unable to read repository at http://public.dhe.ibm.com/ibmdl..."

I am trying to add IBM Worklight plugin to my eclipse environment in Mac 10.7.5 system. I am using Eclipse version Juno 4.2.2 (SR2) for Java EE developers, and using JAVA 7. I tried to install worklight plugin through "Eclipse marketplace" and through "Install new software" using IBM URL.
In both cases i am getting below error after installation progress is at "44%".

Let me know if I am missing anything while adding plugin. I was able to add worklight to my eclipse in Windows 7 system. But in Mac system I am facing problems.
Thanks.
See this topic: http://www.eclipse.org/forums/index.php/t/270718/
Try starting Eclipse with -vmargs -Djava.net.preferIPv4Stack=true.
In my situation I had to right-click on eclipse.exe and Run as Administrator and the problem went away.
The issue was solved, slow network connection was the issue for me. Using a good speed net connection I was able to Install the plugin.

Cannot install subclipse on eclipse helios

When I try to install Subclipse (latest version) on Eclipse Helios v3.6.2, I got the following error message:
Cannot complete the install because one or more required items could not be found.
Software currently installed: Shared profile 1.0.0.1305107493878 (SharedProfile_SDKProfile 1.0.0.1305107493878) Missing requirement: Shared profile 1.0.0.1305107493878 (SharedProfile_SDKProfile 1.0.0.1305107493878) requires 'toolingorg.eclipse.equinox.launcher.win32.win32.x86_64 [1.1.2.R36x_v20101222]' but it could not be found
Should I install equinox sdk?
I searched on the web on how to install equinox but did not found any tutorial. I found a Euinox p2 installer application but it did not worked (error message : internal error).
Thanks.
It seems like something is wrong with your Eclipse install. I would guess there will be other plugins you cannot install. I would try a clean install or a clean workspace and see if that makes a difference. It seems like some basic core Eclipse pieces are missing from the install or the configuration is somehow corrupt.

Probably you had a local fail judging by this error. Try restart Eclipse and install this plugin again. But in general, to avoid such troubles, I would recommend you to install any Eclipse plugins manually from an archive file.
