Facebook account linking, can anyone give small example code? - facebook

I'm very frustated, I can't figure out how to link accounts using the account_link button, it's making my life so hard, I posted this question before, and I thought I had understood how but I just didn't, it's driving me crazy.
Can someone please post a sample code of how to achieve this?
You get on you account linking url the GET parameters:
$token = $_GET['account_linking_token'];
$uri = $_GET['redirect_uri'];
Then you type in your credentials in the log in.
User: user
Password: pass
Click login.
You go and verify credentials, if they are correct, you link the account:
THIS IS THE SMALL BASIC EXAMPLE CODE I NEED
Then, if account linked succesfully, I redirect to the uri:
redirect($uri.'&authorization_code=myauthorizationtoken');
After this, I can retrieve PSID with the API.
Can somebody help me out please?

Use messaging_account_linking subscription for your Facebook developer application.

Your problem is that you do not understand what account linking really means. Account linking means that you should ask this current messenger user to login on your platform thereby linking the messenger account to the user account on your platform.
The flow is just an implementation of OAUTH 2.0. Please read it up to really understand what's going on.
Your job is to just
Redirect the user to a login screen on your part and get the user's PSID using the endpoint provided by the documentation.
Save the PSID and (optional) account linking token to the user's data model.
Generate an authorization code(this is part of the OAUTH 2 flow)
Redirect back to messenger.

Google Smarthome Action account linking missing user information

my code is based on this example
https://codelabs.developers.google.com/codelabs/smarthome-washer
The OAuth process is working. But now I want to know who is the user.
Here
https://developers.google.com/assistant/identity/google-sign-in-oauth?oauth=code
is described that:
After the user gives your Action consent to access their Google profile, Google sends a request that contains a signed assertion of the Google user's identity.
But if I test the authentication I never will be ask to give access to my Google profile.
I think that I have to configure which information my app wants to have from the user. But I didn't know where to do that.
I searched a lot but I couldn't find an example which really explains how to get the user information.
Thank you for your help.
Regards Simon
The OAuth process is working. But now I want to know who is the user.
Just a note here that the samples and codelabs use a fake OAuth implementation does not implement a user sign-in flow and returns a hard-coded fake access token during account linking.
Here
https://developers.google.com/assistant/identity/google-sign-in-oauth?oauth=code
is described that:
After the user gives your Action consent to access their Google profile, Google sends a request that contains a signed assertion of the Google user's identity.
Smart home actions do not support the Google Sign-In account linking flows. You need to implement the OAuth authorization code flow in your account linking integration.
I think that I have to configure which information my app wants to have from the user. But I didn't know where to do that.
I searched a lot but I couldn't find an example which really explains how to get the user information.
This is essentially the opposite of what account linking accomplishes. The goal is not to provide user information from Google to your Action. Instead, account linking is used to authorize Google to access your user's devices by providing Google with an access token that your service considers valid for a particular user within your cloud service.
So in this case, you are the one that owns the user data. You are simply providing Google scoped access to that data for sending queries and commands to devices.

Facebook Messenger: get access token of linked account

First off, I'm not looking for the access token of a facebook account.
I (or my facebook messenger bot) need the access token of a linked 3rd party account.
The account was successfully linked as described here: https://developers.facebook.com/docs/messenger-platform/identity/account-linking
Slightly off topic: The first issue I noticed that does not meet the OIDC/OAuth2 specs is, that the redirect URI given to the /authorize endpoint expects a param "authorization_code" instead of "code" with the actual authorization code. Ok, good thing we do not use off-the-shelf software for the IdP, so I could mend that. Yet.
Now, I'm accustomed from the Amazon Alexa account linking to let the amazon do the token management, refreshing etc. and to deliver an 3rd party access token with every request.
But not with Facebook, it seems. As far as I managed to understand (not by the docs, but by try&error), for the Facebook Messenger the account linking is finished once they get the authorization code (and call an associated webhook).
But since I need an actual access token for every request to my bot, that's not gonna help much.
It now looks as if I have to extend my bot to be a complete, but not standardised, OAauth2/OIDC client (including token handling, refreshing etc.) with some problems:
how to check the validity of the redirect URI?
should be the same as in the initial request
how to validate the authorization_code?
keep in mind, normally this bot has no connections/access to the database of the IdP
how to link this to a specific facebook user id?
My question now is, how to cope with that behaviour when I aim to use standardised software for the OAuth/OIDC IdP? Any ideas?
Thanks in advance
Thomas
EDIT:
To clarify what is meant by "account linking": I'm not interested in the users facebook account, I want to access information of a 3rd party account (provided with my actual service) of that user.
For example a call like "How many pictures are in my tumblr account" will need the customer to link the tumblr account to this facebook messenger bot.
For comparison: this worked extremely smooth with Amazon's Alexa and Google Actions. I simply had to input the client credentials and OAuth endpoints and thats that. If the user successfully linked the 3rd party account, I get an access token with every query to my backend, as expected.
EDIT2: as pointed out by CBroe, this is not supported by Facebook. Only actually "linking" the User IDs is possible.

Can a page on a website get a facebook access token?

I'm fairly new to facebook development and I still get confused about the oAuth thing.
A client of mine asked me to show the latest posts, links and statuses of his facebook page to his website.
On the a php page on his website I'm creating a url
"https://graph.facebook.com/".$clientFacebookPage."/posts?limit=1&access_token= xxx
In order to json decode it and display the info I want, but I don't know how to get an access token. I generated an access token with the graph explorer that is tied to my name as a facebook developer but that expires in 2 hours.
There are many thing that confuse me already and I hope you can point me towards a solution
I've read the documentation but everything revolves around users getting logged on your app and you app posting. So my questions are:
Do I need to create an app to do a curl (requiring special permissions) using the http://graph.facebook/xxxx url?
If so, does the adming of the facebook page need to authorize with the app?
What do I need to do next? I can create a web page using the app id and secret. Does that mean that I can retrieve the info of the facebook page? How?
I know that the page needs an auth token to curl the http://graph.facebook/xxxx page and retrieve the data needed. Where can I generate it? Does the webpage need to generate it, or do I have (as the app developer) acquire the token and write it to my php code?
If I log out of the facebook, will the program/webpage stop functioning?
I hope I didn't confuse you.
Thank you.
The basic process for obtaining an access token for a Page is as follows:
1. Get a user access token for a User who is an admin of the Page
2. Using this User token, request graph.facebook.com/me/accounts and look for the correct Page ID in the list returned.
3. Grab the associated Page token from that ID
4. Use it to do Page stuff.
There is a newly launched Facebook docs guide which shows you how to obtain one of these access tokens in a step-by-step fashion:
https://developers.facebook.com/docs/howtos/login/login-as-page/
Hopefully that guide should help you.
I will also answer your questions in order:
Yes, you will need an app in order to generate access tokens to make API queries
Yes
This is in the guide linked above (start at the Getting Started if you need to create a way to get a User Access Token also)
Again, see the guide above
Yes, but you should follow the steps in this guide to generate a long-lived access token. Once you do that, any Page token you retrieve will last forever.

ASP Classic: twitter and facebook autoposting without signing in

In work I got a task (we MUST work with ASP Classic by the way): when user posts a blog, a link to that blog should be posted automatically on user's facebook timeline and in his twitter. I made everything working, but there is one problem: user needs to be signed in to post. I've made the cheking if he's logged in, and if not he must log in.
But I need to avoid the logging-in step and make it automatic (by sending user's username and password as part of the data sent to twitter/facebook or something like that), but I can't figure out how to do that or if it's even possible at all.
Any ideas? Would greatly appreciate any help.
P.S.: for the twitter part I used http://scottdesapio.com/VBScriptOAuth/
for the facebook part I used a combination of: http://snipplr.com/view/61108/facebook-app-login--authorization-entirely-clientside/
Everything works, but is it possible to automatize the user's sign-in part?
Finally I managed to make the both things automated...
The problem with Twitter was that I didn't store request token in session, that's why I got "Could not authenticate you" error.
Can't remember what I did wrong with Facebook (some co-workers helped me out), but I guess I didn't make proper http requests...
So the answer is: yes, it is possible to automatically post to Twitter and Facebook without user sign in.
If I am not wrong then your logged in user in facebook for current browser is not authorize for your app.
I think you should try googling about "How to authorize users into app". OR
If you don't mind I am giving you the direct URL to go to that setting page for your app:
https://developers.facebook.com/apps and then go to your app then after from left side bar go to roles and then after click on test user tab from top of page and then click on add button it will opne one pop-up to add a user.
In app you have to add test user for testing purpose and have to login for that added test user, so added user will be authorize for that app and you will be able to test.
Thank you...

Facebook account to replace registration?

I'm new to all this. This is what i'm after and i'm sure it's possible.
I've got a script where people can register/login in to as members. What i'd like to do is tie it in so that it just uses Facebook users details for the registrations. I've managed to set it up to sign up and and complete a registration using a user's name and email.
What i'd like to do now is automatically log the user in if they're logged in on facebook, is this possible or will they need to click a login button that then takes them to their page? If they need to click a button to login, how do I go about getting the button to take their facebook details and log them in? Also what happens in regards to passwords on my site? Is that stored in the app somehow?
Ideally i'd like to use the popup version of verification rather than the iframe that i've got set up at the moment.
Cheers in advanced for any help for a n00b!
This is in fact possible. Although I for my part was never a fan of such things here's some human-readable (simplified) theory:
Facebook uses a system called OAuth ( http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/OAuth ). That means, when you want to have the user login onto your site using Facebook you'll of course need to provide a button/facebook-login-frame (see documentation) that says "Log me in with Facebook" or so. You then access Facebooks API (more here: https://developers.facebook.com/ ) and basically tell Facebook who you are ("Hi I'm website XY"). While that happens your user is redirected to Facebooks "permission-landing-page". On that page he needs to confirm whether he is fine with your website accessing certain information (like his name). If he confirms your website receives an access-token granting you access to a subset of his user information which you can then use to personalize his expeirence on your website.
Check out facebooks documentation because they explain exactly your usecase in detail.
(here: https://developers.facebook.com/docs/authentication/ )
PS: You'll of course never have any access to his Facebook login/password. That's kind of the idea behind "delegating" the authentication via OAuth to Facebook. Facebook only provides you with an access token (bound to that particular user who logged in and granted your app/website permissions)
