swift CGPDFDocument parsing - swift

I'm trying to use Swift to parse the contents of PDF documents, following Apple's programming guide (in which all the examples are ObjC...)
let filepath = "/Users/ben/Desktop/Test.pdf"
let localUrl = filepath as CFString
if let pdfURL = CFURLCreateWithFileSystemPath(nil, localUrl, CFURLPathStyle.cfurlposixPathStyle, false) {
if let pdf = CGPDFDocument(pdfURL) {
if let inf = pdf.info {
CGPDFDictionaryApplyFunction(inf, { (key, object, info) -> Void in
print("\(key), \(object), \(info)")
}, nil)
}
if let cat = pdf.catalog {
CGPDFDictionaryApplyFunction(cat, { (key, object, info) -> Void in
print("\(key), \(object), \(info)")
}, nil)
}
}
}
While this seems to produce some results, it's just strings of hex digits.
0x00007ff29f43ce00, 0x00007ff29f492bd0, nil
0x00007ff29f443b60, 0x00007ff29f492cd0, nil
0x00007ff29f482590, 0x00007ff29f492dd0, nil
0x00007ff29f482a40, 0x00007ff29f492ed0, nil
0x00007ff29f482e30, 0x00007ff29f492fe0, nil
0x00007ff29f47da20, 0x00007ff29f4930e0, nil
0x00007ff29f474ac0, 0x00007ff29f842b50, nil
0x00007ff29f43f5d0, 0x00007ff29f842bf0, nil
0x00007ff29f485eb0, 0x00007ff29f842a60, nil
0x00007ff29f482f70, 0x00007ff29f842ab0, nil
0x00007ff29f48b1c0, 0x00007ff29f48f6d0, nil
So how do I get the actual data? Ideally, I'm trying to get at the document metadata and things like fonts contained.

Swift 4 - Here is an updated version of Daniel's excellent example which compiles in Swift 4.

parse()

Your parsing retrieving high level dictionary and info data is correct, but you need to expand the decoding in CGPDFDictionaryApplyFunction to display the values of PDF data according their types (integer, string, array, dictionary, and so on). The syntax of the CGPDFDictionaryApplierFunction you are calling is:
typealias CGPDFDictionaryApplierFunction = (UnsafePointer<Int8>, COpaquePointer, UnsafeMutablePointer<()>) -> Void
Your program is displaying the pointers to the data, you could access the data values according their types as below (Swift 2):
let filepath = "/Users/ben/Desktop/Test.pdf"
let urlDocument = NSURL(fileURLWithPath: filepath)
let myDocument = CGPDFDocumentCreateWithURL(urlDocument)
if myDocument != nil {
let numPages = CGPDFDocumentGetNumberOfPages(myDocument)
print("Number of pages: \(numPages)")
// Get complete catalog
let myCatalog = CGPDFDocumentGetCatalog(myDocument)
CGPDFDictionaryApplyFunction(myCatalog, printPDFKeys, nil)
let myInfo = CGPDFDocumentGetInfo(myDocument)
CGPDFDictionaryApplyFunction(myInfo, printPDFKeys, nil)
} else {
print("Cannot open PDF document")
}
In order to be called from the CGPDFDictionaryApplyFunction, the printPDFKeys is to be called as a global function (outside your main class), alternately you could insert the code in a closure of CGPDFDictionaryApplyFunction as in your example above. The below code is shortened and is not including complete protection against errors and null values.
func printPDFKeys( key: UnsafePointer<Int8>, object: COpaquePointer, info: UnsafeMutablePointer<()>) {
let contentDict: CGPDFDictionaryRef = CGPDFDictionaryRef(info)
let keyString = String(CString: UnsafePointer<CChar>(key), encoding: NSISOLatin1StringEncoding)
let objectType = CGPDFObjectGetType(object)
if keyString == nil {
return
}

Made a parser (based on previous answers) that crawls the PDF hierarchy and gives you a JSON.
// Parse PDF into JSON.
PDFParser.parse(pdfUrl: pdfFileURL, into: jsonFileURL)
// Parse PDF into Dictionary.
let pdf: [String:Any?] = PDFParser.parse(pdfUrl: pdfFileURL)
Gives you:
{
"Catalog" : {
"Pages<Dictionary>" : {
"MediaBox<Array>" : [
0,
0,
612,
792
],
"Type<Name>" : "Pages",
"Kids<Array>" : [
{
"Rotate<Integer>" : 0,
"MediaBox<Array>" : [
0,
0,
595.27499999999998,
841.88999999999999
],
"Parent<Dictionary>" : "<PARENT_NOT_SERIALIZED>",
"Resources<Dictionary>" : {
"ColorSpace<Dictionary>" : {
"Cs1<Array>" : [
"ICCBased",
{
"N<Integer>" : 3,
"Filter<Name>" : "FlateDecode",
"Alternate<Name>" : "DeviceRGB",
"Length<Integer>" : 2612
}
]
}
...
To get from CGPDFDocument (like original question):
// Get document catalog.
guard
let document = CGPDFDocument(pdfFileURL as CFURL),
let catalog = document.catalog
else { return }
// Parse into dictionary.
let catalogDictionary = PDFParser.value(from: catalog)
Gives you a pretty usual Swift dictionary. Console output:
Optional(["Pages<Dictionary>": Optional({
"Count<Integer>" = 1;
"Kids<Array>" = (
{
"ArtBox<Array>" = (
"28.3465",
"325.193",
"393.389",
"813.543"
);
"Contents<Stream>" = {

How can mp3 data in memory be loaded into an AVAudioPCMBuffer in Swift?

I have a class method to read an mp3 file into an AVAudioPCMBuffer as follows:
private(set) var fullAudio: AVAudioPCMBuffer?
func initAudio(audioFileURL: URL) -> Bool {
var status = true
do {
let audioFile = try AVAudioFile(forReading: audioFileURL)
let audioFormat = audioFile.processingFormat
let audioFrameLength = UInt32(audioFile.length)
fullAudio = AVAudioPCMBuffer(pcmFormat: audioFormat, frameCapacity: audioFrameLength)
if let fullAudio = fullAudio {
try audioFile.read(into: fullAudio)
// processing of full audio
}
} catch {
status = false
}
return status
}
However, I now need to be able to read the same mp3 info from memory (rather than a file) into the AVAudioPCMBuffer without using the file system, where the info is held in the Data type, for example using a function declaration of the form
func initAudio(audioFileData: Data) -> Bool {
// some code setting up fullAudio

How can this be done? I've looked to see whether there is a route from Data holding mp3 info to AVAudioPCMBuffer (e.g. via AVAudioBuffer or AVAudioCompressedBuffer), but haven't seen a way forward.
I went down the rabbit hole on this one. Here is what probably amounts to a Rube Goldberg-esque solution:
A lot of the pain comes from using C from Swift.
func data_AudioFile_ReadProc(_ inClientData: UnsafeMutableRawPointer, _ inPosition: Int64, _ requestCount: UInt32, _ buffer: UnsafeMutableRawPointer, _ actualCount: UnsafeMutablePointer<UInt32>) -> OSStatus {
let data = inClientData.assumingMemoryBound(to: Data.self).pointee
let bufferPointer = UnsafeMutableRawBufferPointer(start: buffer, count: Int(requestCount))
let copied = data.copyBytes(to: bufferPointer, from: Int(inPosition) ..< Int(inPosition) + Int(requestCount))
actualCount.pointee = UInt32(copied)
return noErr
}
func data_AudioFile_GetSizeProc(_ inClientData: UnsafeMutableRawPointer) -> Int64 {
let data = inClientData.assumingMemoryBound(to: Data.self).pointee
return Int64(data.count)
}
extension Data {
func convertedTo(_ format: AVAudioFormat) -> AVAudioPCMBuffer? {
var data = self
var af: AudioFileID? = nil
var status = AudioFileOpenWithCallbacks(&data, data_AudioFile_ReadProc, nil, data_AudioFile_GetSizeProc(_:), nil, 0, &af)
guard status == noErr, af != nil else {
return nil
}
defer {
AudioFileClose(af!)
}
var eaf: ExtAudioFileRef? = nil
status = ExtAudioFileWrapAudioFileID(af!, false, &eaf)
guard status == noErr, eaf != nil else {
return nil
}
defer {
ExtAudioFileDispose(eaf!)
}
var clientFormat = format.streamDescription.pointee
status = ExtAudioFileSetProperty(eaf!, kExtAudioFileProperty_ClientDataFormat, UInt32(MemoryLayout.size(ofValue: clientFormat)), &clientFormat)
guard status == noErr else {
return nil
}
if let channelLayout = format.channelLayout {
var clientChannelLayout = channelLayout.layout.pointee
status = ExtAudioFileSetProperty(eaf!, kExtAudioFileProperty_ClientChannelLayout, UInt32(MemoryLayout.size(ofValue: clientChannelLayout)), &clientChannelLayout)
guard status == noErr else {
return nil
}
}
var frameLength: Int64 = 0
var propertySize: UInt32 = UInt32(MemoryLayout.size(ofValue: frameLength))
status = ExtAudioFileGetProperty(eaf!, kExtAudioFileProperty_FileLengthFrames, &propertySize, &frameLength)
guard status == noErr else {
return nil
}
guard let pcmBuffer = AVAudioPCMBuffer(pcmFormat: format, frameCapacity: AVAudioFrameCount(frameLength)) else {
return nil
}
let bufferSizeFrames = 512
let bufferSizeBytes = Int(format.streamDescription.pointee.mBytesPerFrame) * bufferSizeFrames
let numBuffers = format.isInterleaved ? 1 : Int(format.channelCount)
let numInterleavedChannels = format.isInterleaved ? Int(format.channelCount) : 1
let audioBufferList = AudioBufferList.allocate(maximumBuffers: numBuffers)
for i in 0 ..< numBuffers {
audioBufferList[i] = AudioBuffer(mNumberChannels: UInt32(numInterleavedChannels), mDataByteSize: UInt32(bufferSizeBytes), mData: malloc(bufferSizeBytes))
}
defer {
for buffer in audioBufferList {
free(buffer.mData)
}
free(audioBufferList.unsafeMutablePointer)
}
while true {
var frameCount: UInt32 = UInt32(bufferSizeFrames)
status = ExtAudioFileRead(eaf!, &frameCount, audioBufferList.unsafeMutablePointer)
guard status == noErr else {
return nil
}
if frameCount == 0 {
break
}
let src = audioBufferList
let dst = UnsafeMutableAudioBufferListPointer(pcmBuffer.mutableAudioBufferList)
if src.count != dst.count {
return nil
}
for i in 0 ..< src.count {
let srcBuf = src[i]
let dstBuf = dst[i]
memcpy(dstBuf.mData?.advanced(by: Int(dstBuf.mDataByteSize)), srcBuf.mData, Int(srcBuf.mDataByteSize))
}
pcmBuffer.frameLength += frameCount
}
return pcmBuffer
}
}
A more robust solution would probably read the sample rate and channel count and give the option to preserve them.
Tested using:
let url = URL(fileURLWithPath: "/tmp/test.mp3")
let data = try! Data(contentsOf: url)
let format = AVAudioFormat(commonFormat: .pcmFormatFloat32, sampleRate: 44100, channels: 1, interleaved: false)!
if let d = data.convertedTo(format) {
let avf = try! AVAudioFile(forWriting: URL(fileURLWithPath: "/tmp/foo.wav"), settings: format.settings, commonFormat: format.commonFormat, interleaved: format.isInterleaved)
try! avf.write(from: d)
}

WEBRTC: Local streams are visible on OPENVIDU WEB(other Participant) end But Remote Streams are coming NIL on my end locally swift iOS

I am using OpenVidu for Video Chat, Using this Repo https://github.com/OpenVidu/openvidu-ios-app I know this has bugs, but I have to use this as This is working fine at Android and WEB. I am able to make it working where my Local video can be seen on OpenVidu Web but Remote or other person who has joined session from Web whose video(Video Stream and Audio Stream) is not coming at my end. however I can see Remote Participant ID and Name at my end when a user joined the session.
Attached Image is the screen shot showing Remote streams are nil.
Below is the WebSocketListener Class I am using, I have updated pods so have to update delegates as well.

Any One who has used this code, needed help here. I have Participant ID what is the way to get Audio Video streams, Do I need to make some connection(Peer connection)? or I will get these streams in the socket connection response only.

keyNotFound(CodingKeys(stringValue: "coord", intValue: nil)

I am building a small swift weather app using the openweatherAPI and I am running into some issues trying to parse the JSON. I have used the following function to parse the get and parse the json.
Below is my weather data struct:
struct WeatherData: Codable {
let coord: Coord
let weather: [Weather]
let base: String
let main: Main
let visibility: Int
let wind: Wind
let clouds: Clouds
let dt: Int
let sys: Sys
let id: Int
let name: String
let cod: Int
}
struct Clouds: Codable {
let all: Int
}
struct Coord: Codable {
let lon, lat: Double
}
struct Main: Codable {
let temp: Double
let pressure, humidity: Int
let tempMin, tempMax: Double
enum CodingKeys: String, CodingKey {
case temp, pressure, humidity
case tempMin = "temp_min"
case tempMax = "temp_max"
}
}
struct Sys: Codable {
let type, id: Int
let message: Double
let country: String
let sunrise, sunset: Int
}
struct Weather: Codable {
let id: Int
let main, description, icon: String
}
struct Wind: Codable {
let speed: Double
let deg: Int
}
private func getWeatherData(url: String, parameters: [String : String]) {
let JsonURLString:[String: Any] = ["url": WEATHER_URL, "parameters": parameters]
print(JsonURLString)
let urlString = JsonURLString["url"] as? String
guard let url = URL(string: urlString!) else { return }
URLSession.shared.dataTask(with: url) { ( data, response, err ) in
DispatchQueue.main.sync {
if let err = err {
print("Failed to get data from url:", err)
return
}
guard let data = data else { return }
do {
let decoder = JSONDecoder()
decoder.keyDecodingStrategy = .convertFromSnakeCase
let city = try decoder.decode(WeatherData.self, from: data)
self.weatherData.description = city.weather[0].description
self.weatherData.temperature = Int(city.main.temp - 273)
self.weatherData.city = city.name
self.weatherData.condition = city.weather[0].id
self.updateUIWeatherData()
} catch {
print(error)
self.cityLabel.text = "Connection issues"
}
}
}.resume()
}
The exact error I am getting is the following:
longitude = -0.1337, latitude = 51.50998
["parameters": ["lat": "51.50998", "long": "-0.1337", "appid": "xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx"], "url": "https://api.openweathermap.org/data/2.5/weather"]
keyNotFound(CodingKeys(stringValue: "coord", intValue: nil), Swift.DecodingError.Context(codingPath: [], debugDescription: "No value associated with key CodingKeys(stringValue: \"coord\", intValue: nil) (\"coord\").", underlyingError: nil))
I have looked at the following example and don't see how this would apply. Any help would be appreciated.
Icon is not appearing. Here is my model:
import UIKit
class WeatherDataModel {
//Declare your model variables here
var temperature: Int = 0
var condition: Int = 0
var city: String = ""
var weatherIconName = ""
var description: String = ""
//This method turns a condition code into the name of the weather condition image
func updateWeatherIcon(condition: Int) -> String {
switch (condition) {
case 0...300 :
return "tstorm1"
case 301...500 :
return "light_rain"
case 501...600 :
return "shower3"
case 601...700 :
return "snow4"
case 701...771 :
return "fog"
case 772...799 :
return "tstorm3"
case 800 :
return "sunny"
case 801...804 :
return "cloudy2"
case 900...903, 905...1000 :
return "tstorm3"
case 903 :
return "snow5"
case 904 :
return "sunny"
default :
return "dunno"
}
}
}
I have added my own icons. I have added this in the do catch block.
do {
let decoder = JSONDecoder()
decoder.keyDecodingStrategy = .convertFromSnakeCase
let city = try decoder.decode(WeatherData.self, from: data)
print(city)
self.weatherData.description = city.weather[0].description
self.weatherData.temperature = Int(city.main.temp - 273)
self.weatherData.city = city.name
self.weatherData.condition = city.weather[0].id
self.weatherData.weatherIconName = WeatherDataModel.updateWeatherIcon(self.weatherData.condition)
self.updateUIWeatherData()
} catch {
print(error)
self.cityLabel.text = "Connection issues"
}

Swift 4 Tuple Iteration

I am trying to retrieve wallpapers from Bing by json in Swift 4
https://www.bing.com/HPImageArchive.aspx?format=js&idx=0&n=8&mkt=en-US
But images property is a tuple with another objects. I can not iterate this tuple and reach the url values so that I can collect them in an array.

How can I handle this JSON tuple in Swift 4?
That's not a tuple.
That's how a NSArray is printed (that's the description implementation result). It's more Objective-C like.
(
content...
)
With force unwrap (use of !) that I'd strongly recommend to not use in production, and use if let/guard let instead (because it will cause a crash if it fails the unwrap). I used force unwrap to be more direct, that's all, show the logic.
let dataJSON = initialJSONData
//Your JSON is a Dictionary at top level
let json = try! JSONSerialization.jsonObject(with: dataJSON, options: []) as! [String: Any]
//The value of a images key is an Array of Dictionaries
let imagesArray = json["images"] as! [[String: Any]]
let imagesURLStr = imagesArray.flatMap{ $0["url"] as? String }
Now, if you use Swift 4+, I'd recommend to use Codable:
struct Result: Codable {
let images: [Image]
struct Image: Codable {
let url: String
}
}
To call it:
let jsonDecoder = JSONDecoder()
let result = try! jsonDecoder.decode(Result.self, from: dataJSON)
let images = result.images
let imagesURLStr = images.map{ $0.url }
Side Note:
This code is not tested, written only here, so there might be a typo error, a minor compiler issue but it shouldn't be un-fixable.
With the help of quicktype.io, let's use these structs :
struct Result: Codable {
let images: [Image]
let tooltips: Tooltips
}
struct Image: Codable {
let startdate, fullstartdate, enddate, url: String
let urlbase, copyright: String
let copyrightlink: String
let title, quiz: String
let wp: Bool
let hsh: String
let drk, top, bot: Int
let hs: [JSONAny]
}
struct Tooltips: Codable {
let loading, previous, next, walle: String
let walls: String
}

fatalError("Invalid URL")
}
//Fetch the data from the URL

guard let jsonData = data, error == nil else {
fatalError("Data error")
}
let jsonDecoder = JSONDecoder()
do {
let result = try jsonDecoder.decode(Result.self, from: jsonData)
let images = result.images
let urls = images.map { $0.url }
urls.forEach { print($0) }
}
catch {
print(error)
}
}).resume()
This prints:

Convert to string an Any value

This fails (Non-nominal type 'Any' cannot be extended)
extension Any {
func literal() -> String {
if let booleanValue = (self as? Bool) {
return String(format: (booleanValue ? "true" : "false"))
}
else
if let intValue = (self as? Int) {
return String(format: "%d", intValue)
}
else
if let floatValue = (self as? Float) {
return String(format: "%f", floatValue)
}
else
if let doubleValue = (self as? Double) {
return String(format: "%f", doubleValue)
}
else
{
return String(format: "<%#>", self)
}
}
}
as I would like to use it in a dictionary (self) to xml string factory like
extension Dictionary {
// Return an XML string from the dictionary
func xmlString(withElement element: String, isFirstElement: Bool) -> String {
var xml = String.init()
if isFirstElement { xml.append("<?xml version=\"1.0\" encoding=\"utf-8\"?>\n") }
xml.append(String(format: "<%#>\n", element))
for node in self.keys {
let value = self[node]
if let array: Array<Any> = (value as? Array<Any>) {
xml.append(array.xmlString(withElement: node as! String, isFirstElemenet: false))
}
else
if let dict: Dictionary<AnyHashable,Any> = (value as? Dictionary<AnyHashable,Any>) {
xml.append(dict.xmlString(withElement: node as! String, isFirstElement: false))
}
else
{
xml.append(String(format: "<%#>", node as! CVarArg))
xml.append((value as Any).literal
xml.append(String(format: "</%#>\n", node as! CVarArg))
}
}
xml.append(String(format: "</%#>\n", element))
return xml.replacingOccurrences(of: "&", with: "&amp", options: .literal, range: nil)
}
}
I was trying to reduce the code somehow, as the above snippet is repeated a few times in a prototype I'm building but this is not the way to do it (a working copy with the snippet replicated works but ugly?).
Basically I want to generate a literal for an Any value - previously fetched from a dictionary.
It seems like you can't add extensions to Any. You do have some other options though - either make it a function toLiteral(value: Any) -> String, or what is probably a neater solution; use the description: String attribute which is present on all types that conform to CustomStringConvertible, which includes String, Int, Bool, and Float - your code would be simplified down to just xml.append(value.description). You then just have make a simple implementation for any other types that you might get.
Ok, finally got this working. First the preliminaries: each of your objects needs to have a dictionary() method to marshal itself. Note: "k.###" are struct static constants - i.e., k.name is "name", etc. I have two objects, a PlayItem and a PlayList:
class PlayItem : NSObject {
var name : String = k.item
var link : URL = URL.init(string: "http://")!
var time : TimeInterval
var rank : Int
var rect : NSRect
var label: Bool
var hover: Bool
var alpha: Float
var trans: Int
var temp : String {
get {
return link.absoluteString
}
set (value) {
link = URL.init(string: value)!
}
}
func dictionary() -> Dictionary<String,Any> {
var dict = Dictionary<String,Any>()
dict[k.name] = name
dict[k.link] = link.absoluteString
dict[k.time] = time
dict[k.rank] = rank
dict[k.rect] = NSStringFromRect(rect)
dict[k.label] = label ? 1 : 0
dict[k.hover] = hover ? 1 : 0
dict[k.alpha] = alpha
dict[k.trans] = trans
return dict
}
}
class PlayList : NSObject {
var name : String = k.list
var list : Array <PlayItem> = Array()
func dictionary() -> Dictionary<String,Any> {
var dict = Dictionary<String,Any>()
var items: [Any] = Array()
for item in list {
items.append(item.dictionary())
}
dict[k.name] = name
dict[k.list] = items
return dict
}
}
Note any value so marshal has to be those legal types for a dictionary; it helps to have aliases so in the PlayItem a "temp" is the string version for the link url, and its getter/setter would translate.
When needed, like the writeRowsWith drag-n-drop tableview handler, I do this:
func tableView(_ tableView: NSTableView, writeRowsWith rowIndexes: IndexSet, to pboard: NSPasteboard) -> Bool {
if tableView == playlistTableView {
let objects: [PlayList] = playlistArrayController.arrangedObjects as! [PlayList]
var items: [PlayList] = [PlayList]()
var promises = [String]()
for index in rowIndexes {
let item = objects[index]
let dict = item.dictionary()
let promise = dict.xmlString(withElement: item.className, isFirstElement: true)
promises.append(promise)
items.append(item)
}
let data = NSKeyedArchiver.archivedData(withRootObject: items)
pboard.setPropertyList(data, forType: PlayList.className())
pboard.setPropertyList(promises, forType:NSFilesPromisePboardType)
pboard.writeObjects(promises as [NSPasteboardWriting])
}
else
{
let objects: [PlayItem] = playitemArrayController.arrangedObjects as! [PlayItem]
var items: [PlayItem] = [PlayItem]()
var promises = [String]()
for index in rowIndexes {
let item = objects[index]
let dict = item.dictionary()
let promise = dict.xmlString(withElement: item.className, isFirstElement: true)
promises.append(promise)
items.append(item)
}
let data = NSKeyedArchiver.archivedData(withRootObject: items)
pboard.setPropertyList(data, forType: PlayList.className())
pboard.setPropertyList(promises, forType:NSFilesPromisePboardType)
pboard.writeObjects(promises as [NSPasteboardWriting])
}
return true
}
What makes this happen are these xmlString extensions and the toLiteral function - as you cannot extend "Any":
func toLiteral(_ value: Any) -> String {
if let booleanValue = (value as? Bool) {
return String(format: (booleanValue ? "1" : "0"))
}
else
if let intValue = (value as? Int) {
return String(format: "%d", intValue)
}
else
if let floatValue = (value as? Float) {
return String(format: "%f", floatValue)
}
else
if let doubleValue = (value as? Double) {
return String(format: "%f", doubleValue)
}
else
if let stringValue = (value as? String) {
