I have an input validation after pressing the NextStep button in sap.m wizard.
If input validation fails, I have to stay on same step. How can this be done?
I'd recommend taking a look at SAP API Documentation for sap.m.Wizard and sap.m.WizardStep.
For sap.m.Wizard, it states:
Next Step Button
The next step button is displayed below the content. It can be hidden by setting showNextButton to false and displayed, for example, only after the user has filled all mandatory fields.
So depending on the validation routine, the button “Next Step” can be hidden to prevent the user moving to the next step.
There is also an example in SAP Explored.

I am trying to create a simple hierarchy in OBI, after adding prompts to the sub analysis. When ever I click on the main analysis, it always shows a filter first and I have to click the okay button to get to the next analysis. Is there any way to remove this? The value can be auto selected, I really don't want to click this okay button manually. Please see screenshots below, I want to remove the second step.
You could hide the dashboard prompt, so it gets applied with default values, or you don't even need a dashboard prompt in this example, using GoUrl functionality the value is passed.
I am using the Skillsbuilders Save Before Exit Oracle ApEx plugin within one of my pages but for some reason, I do not want it to fire when the user presses the "Save" button on the page that basically branches back to itself, when they change something on the page.
Now the "Save" button is fired as part of a Dynamic Action, which basically first calls a JavaScript function, followed by PL/SQL and then performs a apex.submit("SUBMIT") JavaScript call.
With this plugin, how can I prevent it from firing when the user presses the "Save" button because when a user changes a field on the screen and then proceeds to press the "Save" button, this plugin fires and displays the dialog to the user that changes have been made, which is not what I want. I just want it to save the changes and stay on the page.
See here for plugin details:
http://apex.oracle.com/pls/apex/f?p=46685:SAVE_BEFORE_EXIT:0:::::
I have read documentation http://skillbuilders.com/download/download-resource.cfm/instructions.pdf?file=Oracle-Apex/plugins/save_before_exit//instructions.pdf
You must change attribute of the plugin named "Disable Warning Selector". Specify jquery selector, applied for all buttons which you want to fire the dialog.
I'm trying to build a Wizard framework in Windows Forms. I've managed to glean a lot of useful tips from this and other sites which have gotten me very close to success. However, I'm having a problem with displaying an ErrorProvider on any tab page other than the first page of the wizard.
My Wizard control is a UserControl. It contains a custom tab control that I've derived from TabControl so that I can hide tabs and ignore attempts to navigate between tabs using keypresses, along with the usual collection of Back/Next/Finish/Cancel buttons at the bottom of the control.
I've used reflection to allow me to raise the validation events on a particular TabPage that belongs to the Wizard Control when I hit the Next button. (I don't want to validate the whole TabControl, only the currently active page.) When I do this, I see in the debugger that my Validating routine for the controls on the current tab page is correctly called and I see that I've called the ErrorProvider that I've attached to the particular control (a TextBox in this case) with a valid error message. I set Cancel to true for the CancelEventArgs in the validating routine and that's picked up by the code that uses the reflection mechanism so that I see that I've failed and don't change tabs. And I set the focus successfully to the control that failed validation.
So all that appears to be working just fine.
Unfortunately, I don't see the ErrorProvider's cheery blinking icon unless I'm on the first tab page. For all of the other tab pages, there's no message visible at all.
I'm baffled. Any thoughts? I can provide code snippets, if helpful.
Thanks!
I assume that in your case the button that moves to the next step of the wizard is placed outside (below) the TabControl
I noticed that the icon is displayed correctly if I pressed the button without releasing the mouse button. It seems that the button outside the container gets focused event though a validation error has occurred (normally you would not be able to leave the active control).
I worked around this issue by registering an event handler for the buttons MouseUp event to "refocus" the TabControl:
private void cmdOK_MouseUp(object sender, MouseEventArgs e)
{
tabControl1.Focus();
}
Note: you also need to set your forms ActiveControl property the one of the controls that failed validation.
I am trying to develop a quiz application using LWUIT resource editor and am having great difficulty.
I have created two Forms 'GUI1' and 'GUI2' .
GUI1 displays the following:
A question(in the form of a TextField)
5 RadioButtons belonging to the same group
A Button which says 'OK'
GUI2 displays the following:
A TextField
A Button to go back to GUI1
Now the problem is:
Initially GUI1 is displayed. When the user chooses a RadioButton , I wish to know which RadioButton was selected. If that RadioButton was indeed the correct answer, then when the user clicks on the 'OK' Button on GUI1, I wish to display the text 'correct' in the TextField on GUI2 and then display the GUI2.
If the user chose the wrong answer, then I wish to display the text "Wrong" in the TextField on GUI2 and then display the GUI2.
How can this be done with resource editor? I am very foxed. Please help.
I wish to refer to the TextField on GUI2 when I am currently on GUI1. How can this be done with resource editor? Writing a manual code for all this would be very time consuming.
Ok I will try to explain the best I can.
When you design the first Form GUI1 the five RadioButtons must be in the same group. I don't know how to do that in the resource editor (I think there is a field called ButtonGroup in the RadioButton, but I can't remeber). What I would do is take the five RadioButton by code in the before method of GUI1 and add them to a ButtonGroup element.
With ButtonGroup you can know which element is selected using ButtonGroup.setSelectedIndex(). When you press the Button take this value and act as appropriate to the situation.
If you don't understand anything please tell me and I will try to help you.
Is not a hard thing to do. There must be a way to do it with the Resoruce editor but at the moment I don´t know how.
As Shai mentioned, the best thing to do is to use listeners to set the "state" of the buttons on clicking them and when you move to the next form you just retrieve the state of the previous text field.
Manual code may actually be faster for you, do most of the UI in the resource editor and transfer to a form that is written manually. That way you have full control over your objects and transfer back into the GUI builder form when needed.
First I created a form in Orbeon Forms with Form Builder. Next I made it a multi-page form as described in Create a wizard or multi-page form with Form Builder.
The problem I'm facing is that when submitting the form, validation only occurs on the currently visible sections. When submitting, I would like all sections to be validated even though only one section may be visible. What would be the best way to achieve this?
I would recommend you change the code of your "Next" button so it doesn't switch to the following page if there are errors on the current page. You can do so by adding an if "guard" on the <xforms:setvalue> inside the "Next" button, that reads:
if="xxforms:instance('fr-error-summary-instance')/valid = 'true'"
This will also make things easier for users: if you let them navigate to page 2 while there are errors on page 1, when they try to save while on page 2, you will somehow have to tell them that the error is on a previous page, and provide a way for them to navigate to that page.
