Facebook API returns empty videos list - facebook

I'am trying to play with the opengraph facebook API. I'd like to fetch my videos by calling /me/videos
I'am using the Opengraph API explorer with a user access token but the response is always empty: {data:[]}
My token is generated with every acces rights (I checked all checkboxes).
/me/photos is working fine, but not /me/videos
Any idea?
Thank you

Depending on your comment I can tell your question doesn't describe what you're looking for. You're not looking for your uploaded/tagged videos, so this endpoint won't work for your case.
Just for information, this endpoint will only return a list of videos that the person is tagged in. You need to specify to this endpoint by adding a type=uploaded parameter to the query if you're also looking for the video uploaded by you.

You're looking for your bookmarked links and it seems the API endpoint to access Facebook "Saved Links" is not available anymore (Is there a way to get the Saved Links?)

"unsupported get request" for a post that exists and is publicly visible

The following public post which is visible on the page it was posted (it is not "hidden") is a mystery to me: https://www.facebook.com/Orange.France/posts/833781953305851
i.e., it is not available in the page's /feed edge, and the graph API can't retrieve it either. The following command returns an "unsupported get request":
curl https://graph.facebook.com/170852259598827_833781953305851?access_token=XXX
I tried also the following without much success:
curl https://graph.facebook.com/833781953305851?access_token=XXX
In both cases, I tried the access_token of the page as well a random access_token generated from the graph explorer.
So, the question is: how can I retrieve this post through the FB API ?
You can't retrieve that post via the API - it was made by a user whose data cannot be accessed via the API by any app due to their privacy settings
You can see this by trying to load the poster's details (https://graph.facebook.com/<username>- it fails with the same exception)
Such posts will never be accessible via the API, because the person who made the post has explicitly disabled all apps from interacting with them or their posted content
If you want to prevent such users from posting on the page, there's an API-settable option called which will stop this - documentation for how to apply settings to the pages your app manages is here: https://developers.facebook.com/docs/graph-api/reference/page/settings
The specific option you need to enable to prevent platform-opt-out users from posting is called PLATFORM_OPTOUTS_CAN_POST
The main reason is not because of page, but it's because of the author turn the platform off.
You can't query the author basic info via Graph API.
The author can turn the platform off, so any Graph API query including comments wouldn't include him.

facebook api access a page's photo album

So really what i would like to do is access my page's photos albums to include them into my own website. So i can upload to facebook and have that viewable on my own site.
I using the php skd but fql would be better for this as i can easily get a JSON object back and i believe i wouldn't need to use the sdk as this is for user's informtaion not a pages details.
So does anybody have ideas on this?
url i'm trying to access the query:
https://api.facebook.com/method/fql.query?query=SELECT%20name%20FROM%20album%20Where%20aid=%27118818791532414%27&format=JSON
Page i am taking the photos from:
www.facebook.com/mayfieldathleticfc
Album i am using as an example:
http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.118818791532414.24873.118816378199322
I thought maybe i hadn't set the photos to public but after closer inspection i don't believe you can do this?
Anyway thoughts are welcome =)
That URL returns to you an informative error message:
{"error_code":102,"error_msg":"Session key invalid or no longer valid",
"request_args":[{"key":"method","value":"fql.query"},
{"key":"query","value":"SELECT name FROM album Where aid='118818791532414'"},
{"key":"format","value":"JSON"}]}
To call Facebook APIs, you have to pass in a session key - even to access 'public' things. A good starting point for learning how to authenticate and get a session key is http://developers.facebook.com/docs/authentication/
After a little more routing around i realised that it was my id's and owners details that was not correct: api.facebook.com/method/… i had this sorted it worked.

facebook graph api does not return all feed items on facebook page

at the time of this question, if you go here:
http://www.facebook.com/realplayer
you'll see six posts down, I have posted a photo with a message of "#highfive Cincinnati, OH"
but if you to either of these:
http://graph.facebook.com/realplayer/feed
http://graph.facebook.com/realplayer/tagged
the JSON that is returned seemingly includes everything on the wall, except for MY post. there is another photo post from someone else down below mine, and it is showing up (and both my photo and his photo are in the "Fan photos" section)
obviously, since I can see everything with these links already, it appears that access_token is not a part of the equation... BUT, some more info:
if I use an access_token from a session that isn't me, I can't see the post in the JSON
if I use an access_token from MY logged in session, then I DO see the post in the JSON
so I'm very confused.
if everyone in the world can see those posts on the wall without even authenticating, then I expect all of them to come back in the graph api as well.
anyone have thoughts on this?
I am aware of the "manage_page" permission... which I can use to get a list of accounts and special offline access tokens for those pages... and that's something I can explore... but it seems like alot of work when my post seemingly SHOULD be there in the graph
well looks like FB has this nice little anti-spam feature for pages... such that a non-admin can't write lots of messages on your page. what's interesting is that facebook uses similar "silent treatment" techniques that StackOverflow uses ( https://blog.stackoverflow.com/2008/09/podcast-21/ )... so when I look at a wall that I've been "spamming" I will see all of my posts... but no one else will.
I was able to create a new test account and get about 3 or 4 messages on a page before it started blocking me again
so probably the Graph API is working as designed :)
========================
UPDATE: this appears to only be part of the problem. I have constructed another page and app and been doing testing:
http://www.facebook.com/pages/RP-Test-Page/116735865065591
note the entry for "#highfive Orlando, FL" ... even an unauthenticated user can see this entry from the actual page... but there is seemingly no way for me to get it back through the API. He only posted once, so it can't be an "anti-spam" thing (you wouldn't think).
I have obviously tried the Graph API (with and without my own access token)
I have tried FQL (with and without my own access token)
and I have followed this post:
http://en-gb.facebook.com/topic.php?uid=10381469571&topic=3815&post=51980
in order to request manage_pages and offline_access extended permissions from myself and use that to get the /me/accounts and then get the "impersonation" access token (whew)... STILL NOTHING
there must be some other super security thing going on. is it not possible to reliably get all of the wall posts from a page?

Facebook graph API: feeds missing in json response

I try to fetch user's feeds via graph api from my Android application. It generally works but some feeds that I can see on the wall are missing in the json response.
I call the url http://graph.facebook.com/someUserId/feed, by using the Android Facebook SDK methods, so the access token should be provided automatically, but it's not really relevant I think in my case. Nevertheless fyi, the user of my app is authenticated via OAuth.
I already checked the following:
all the user's feeds are visible to everyone / public (set in privacy settings)
the json response is not cached by my browser
I am aware of paging, but this is not an issue. The problem is not that I am not getting the very oldest feeds but that some feeds are just missing in between.
I registered a new facebook user which is not connected to the user I want to retrieve the wall feeds from, and when I open the respective wall I see all the feeds there, as expected, since they're all public to everyone. Yet, when I open the same related json url unter http://graph.facebook.com/someUserId/feed, some feeds are missing.
This is an example of the problem - since all my posts are public, I can just call the json url directly in a browser to do a test.
I want to get wall feeds from user:
http://www.facebook.com/mathias.lin
Screenshot1: note the 3 marked postings, all posted by myself
and here the json response, as you can see, the 1st and 3rd wall posts are included in the json, but the 2nd post is not. Why?
The related json url is:
http://graph.facebook.com/mathias.lin/feed
I am getting the 'missing' feed when I add an access_token to the url - but why? The posted feed has a privacy setting for 'everyone'?!
This is the missing feed that I get when using the access_token:

Facebook Graph API "/userid/feed" returning Blank
Your approach is correct, I've seen the JSON and yes it's missing the second one, I think it's upload app form adroid, try checking the application settings for this app. Or If your trying to retrieve the wall FQL is a much better way
SELECT post_id, actor_id, target_id, message FROM stream WHERE source_id in (SELECT target_id FROM connection WHERE source_id=<uid> AND is_following=1) AND is_hidden = 0
I've been through this, the way Facebook is categorizing their permissions is somehow misleading, for example Publicly available may sounds like Available to everyone on Facebook but apperantly it's not.
Now in your case, if you already authenticated the user, then try using:
/me/feed
I guess this is the only case where access_token is not needed in the URL.
I had a similar problem. But for me, the problem was related to not setting the scope properly on first login (to authorize the app). I posted a similar question and got an answer that worked for me here:
Facebook API how to get all wall items

Delete ALBUM Facebook Graph API?

Hi All does anyone know the correct Graph path for deleting an album? I have tried a bunch of things and nothing seems to work?
/me/aid
/aid
/me/object_id/albums
/me/object_id
/me/albums/object_id
/object_id/album"
/object_id/albums
/object_id
obviously replacing aid and object_id with a valid value...
Is it possible to delete an album through the Graph API? thanks!
Umm, as far as I can tell, you simply are not allowed to delete an album through the graph API, regardless of permissions.
This has been true for a while.
Recently (its 1/16/12 when I write this), graph API users can't even delete photos.
Here's the Facebook Bug Link:
https://developers.facebook.com/bugs/125524667559003?browse=search_4f14be86ba58f3666689319
Yes, the FB-built apps appear to have special permissions linked to their App IDs to which you do not have access. I just noticed, for instance, that the iOS app uploads photos to a temporary album while you are typing in the caption for the photo so the final "upload" wait is perceived to be just a few seconds (it just moves the picture to the mobile uploads album and set the privacy). Access to anything like a temp album is not available through any API I can see.
Filing a bug report is about all you can do.
I would be happy to have this answer down voted as not correct, but I have spent a reasonable amount of time not just looking at the docs, but watching what the iOs app is doing through a proxy server and trying to recreate it.
From Facebook's documentation:
You can delete objects in the graph by issuing HTTP DELETE requests to the object URLs, i.e,
DELETE https://graph.facebook.com/ID?access_token=... HTTP/1.1
To support clients that do not support all HTTP methods (like JavaScript clients), you can alternatively issue a POST request to an object URL with the additional argument method=delete to override the HTTP method. For example, you can delete a comment by issuing a POST request to https://graph.facebook.com/COMMENT_ID?method=delete.
You can delete a like by issuing a DELETE request to /POST_ID/likes (since likes don't have an ID).
So the last one of your paths is the correct one '/object_id'. You need to make sure you are either sending your HTTP request as a "DELETE" or as a "POST" with the query parameter method=delete set. For example:
DELETE https://graph.facebook.com/ID?access_token=
or
POST https://graph.facebook.com/ID?method=delete&access_token=
If neither of those work, make sure you have the correct extended permission. I believe the permission you need to delete an album is 'publish_stream'. I have never done it before so I could be wrong on that one.
If you are using the Facebook C# SDK you would do it like this:
var client = new FacebookClient('access_token');
dynamic result = client.Delete('object_id');
I think you could read the ID of a certain album by /me/albums/ and after that run the delete on https://graph.facebook.com/ID
On my try it worked just fine...
To delete objects via the AS3 Facebook API, use the deleteObject(method, callback) function of the Facebook object.
