When I try to use the Facebook connector in Azure logic apps I can't seem to get the "Get user timeline" to work.
I know for a fact that the User ID is valid (I checked using this URL: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=). I also know for sure that the user has posts on it's timeline. I also tried multiple user ID's.
When I open the failed request in the Logic app I get this, the response is empty every time.
Is this related to privacy settings? Why doesn't this work?
We should probably retire/remove that operation. It is not possible to retrieve the post from Facebook graph API for another user's timeline. It used to so that is why it is there. Specifically, this post might be helpful: Facebook Graph API {user-id}/feed from others empty
The connector calls the /{user-id}/feed API. You can try out the behavior in the Facebook Graph explorer as well. https://developers.facebook.com/tools/explorer/

Is possible to find out whether some facebook page is live streaming right now? I was looking at Facebook API and from there it seems to me that it is not possible since /{page_id}/live_videos seems to be working only if you are an admin of the page (or you have been granted the access) since you cannot read live videos of public without page access token.
Yes, you can. This is actually called a WebHook (simultaneous notification of a certain app/user about changes made on the page). To do this you will have to create a Facebook App that will be subscribed to the changes made on a certain page that you want to track.
You can simply do this from the dashboard of the app or through Graph API 2.7(since this version supports live_videos) calling {app-id}/subscriptions and choose any of Page Object Subscriptions, which are available through Facebook API(in your case live_videos).
For this kind of subscriptions your app needs to be whitelisted in order not to spam or re-transmit the information received from a certain page.
To get more information about WebHook implementation please read Facebook API documenation: https://developers.facebook.com/docs/graph-api/webhooks
I know this is quite late already but for those that may stumble on it like I did, Yes it's possible.
As clearly stated in the documentation
Page Live Videos - Facebook API Documentation
You will need to make a GET Request to the endpoint below with the appropriate parameters:
https://graph.facebook.com/v6.0/{page-id}/live_videos
Where page_id is the Facebook Page ID you with to check for active Live Stream
The endpoint also expect broadcast_status whose value for your use case would be LIVE
Note: You will need and app setup on Facebook for developers platform and your query would have to be via the app
Further details can be found in the documentation whose link I provided at the initial part of this answer.
You might be able to get a returned string if there is any, from:
GET /v2.7/{page-id}/live_videos HTTP/1.1
Host: graph.facebook.com
You can read more in: https://developers.facebook.com/docs/graph-api/reference/page/live_videos/
I am new to Facebook API. I am building a Facebook app to fetch all the name of people who shared, commented and liked a post in a tabular format. I am able to get the like and comment details through Facebook API but can not find and proper API to get the share details.
I am using
https://graph.facebook.com/post_id?fields=sharedposts&access_token=my_access_token.
This API is returning an empty result set. And I have granted all the available permission to the access_tokn. Can anyone tell me ,Is there any other API that I can use. I saw a option of scraping the Facebook page for share, but I don't want to go that way because Facebook keeps on updating every thing.
I'm having the same problem as you, but I think I'm going a little step forward.
Try adding a limit to your sharedposts and maybe it will return some data:
Try this way:
https://graph.facebook.com/post_id/sharedposts?access_token=my_access_token&limit=1000
That should work for a regular post.
EDIT: Maybe the problem could be that althought you have granted all the perms to the token, the people who share that posts have to accept that permission too.
Otherway your JSON won't return any data.
The /sharedposts endpoint will -only- retrieve posts from users who have -also- granted your app. This means that even though a post might be public on a users' timeline, unless they have also granted your app permissions, you will not be able to retrieve that post.
For example: a user posted to a page and the post is public. This post can be retrieved with an access token. Let's assume that the user also shared this post to their own timeline. But, since the user has not granted permissions to your app, you will not be able to see this post using the /sharedposts edge on the original post (on the page). This also holds if the user shared their post publicly to his timeline.
This behaviour is by design; the API is more restrictive in returning user data than the website is. This holds for multiple endpoint and this is one of the examples where it is the case.

I am planning to build a small side project that stores posts from particular public pages. And detect if they delete the post later. Something similar has been done for Twitter. But I couldn't find similar projects for Facebook.
Like this: http://politwoops.sunlightfoundation.com/
But for Twitter. I will do it in Python or C#
How can I go about it?
Any particular code or projects I can learn from?
The only way to check if a post is not there anymore on Facebook is to search for it with a User Access Token of the User who posted it. Every Object on Facebook gets a specific ID, you only have to check if that ID still exists. If not, you get an Error from the API.
For example: https://developers.facebook.com/tools/explorer/?method=GET&path=10203433018378479&version=v2.0
The path parameter is the ID of the Post.
Keep in mind that you need the read_stream permission for that, and you need to let Facebook approve it for other users or it will only work for Admins/Devs of your App. It is not very likely that you will get the permission approved for this though. It usually only gets approved for Apps on "Platforms without a native Facebook experience".
Edit: My bad, i was thinking about User posts, but your question was about Pages. In that case, all you need is an App Access Token (App-ID|App-Secret). The API Call would be the same, you just need to know the Post ID.
About Access Tokens:
https://developers.facebook.com/docs/facebook-login/access-tokens/
http://www.devils-heaven.com/facebook-access-tokens/
For getting the feed of a Facebook Page, see the Facebook docs (including code samples): https://developers.facebook.com/docs/graph-api/reference/v2.0/page/feed/
You can use graph api for this. If it's a public page, you can follow these steps:
Create your application in Facebook developers site
Setup the basic graph auth mechanism with your favorite language and get unexpired token.
Use your unexpired access token to do these tasks:
Enter the id of the pages you want to crawl http://graph.facebook.com/[insert page id or url here]/feed
Add post title, postID to your database.
Create a scheduled task on your server to do these tasks:
Select all / page based etc posts on your database and send a request to: http://graph.facebook.com/[insert post ID here]
if it returns it means it's still there. otherwise it will return an error.
We have a Facebook Application with custom Open Graph objects and actions.
We then use a App Access Token to post stories for a particular user from our backend with the normal Open Graph REST API. After the post-call succeeds we log the returned "id" of that post.
Now we would like to collect insight data (e.g. post_impressions_unique) for some of these individual posts/stories using the logged id's.
According to https://developers.facebook.com/blog/post/573/ we should be able to do something like:
https://graph.facebook.com/[POST ID]/insights
Even though this call seems to work using our normal App Access Token, no insight data is returned for the post/story.
Does anyone know if this is possible and how to do it?
We have been experimenting with a normal User Access Token and the "read_insights" permissions, but with no luck. I have read some similar questions but mainly regarding page-posts (this is an App Open Graph post/story).
EDIT:
The facebook article above only refers to "Page" posts. I'm looking for analytics on individual Facebook App Opengraph Posts/stories. It seems difficult to find any good information about this, has nobody attempted this with any success?
You must add insights into a permissions/Extended permissions
Article :
Getting Page Insights
In order to obtain Page Insights via the Graph API, you must use a Page access token, and you must have the read_insights permission. Click on the link below to see this working in the Graph API Explorer.
Can I use the Facebook Graph API without the creation of my Facebook Application? As I understand it, for each operation I need to use the OAuth key. And I can only get user OAuth key if they authorize my Facebook application. Am I right?
I need to get user feed, and post to it.
Facebook Graph Api needs your APP ID which you can only get from your Facebook application. So i think its not possible to post data on facebook without having Application ID.
You can use this tool to dynamically generate an access_token for testing: https://developers.facebook.com/tools/explorer/
Also, check out RapidAPI here. I've specifically linked you to the FacebookGraphAPI block. Here you can instantaneously connect to numerous Facebook endpoints. The platform will generate a code snippet that you can directly insert into your code.
Depends on what you want to do, for most tasks you have to have an app id... but If you want to get the amount of shares for a certain page, for example, you can do it with no app ID.
I think there is FBML (facebooks mark up language) which you can embed on your site which can handle some basic tasks like commenting or liking.
No, You can't do that as Facebook Graph API needs access token which u can get only by authorising your logged-in user by your (Created) App in Facebook.
