Advance Installer Configuring database from command line - command-line

Hello all I am able to do the following operations from command line
1.Create new AIP project
2.Edit the project by adding folder and required services
is it possible to achieve the same for database so that it should work similar to AddFolder so that there is no need to open the dialog and do it manually

If you are trying to modify the SQL Databases section of your AIP project, then they do not have command line support for this. Maybe you can post on their forum a feature request for such command option.

Executing Karate scenarios calling external JAR from VScode

I use Karate as standalone JAR, and for writing scenarios I've installed Visual Source Code with the "karate-runner" plugin as IDE support.
I use an external jar for encryption treatments.
The trouble is that, when I execute a Karate scenario from Visual Source Code (for debuggig purpose), my external jar is not taken into account, and during execution, I get the message "java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: GenerateSign" in the console.
I've no problem when I launch the scenario directly in command line like :
Karate.bat mytest.feature
With the content of karate.bat is :
java -cp karate.jar;Sign.jar;. com.intuit.karate.Main %*
So, how to configure the tools in order to execute my karate scenarios from VScode taking into account my external jar too?
Thanks a lot.
I suspect the problem is you haven't updated the "karateCli" property in your launch.json debug configuration. Can you try to update it including your additional jar file and try again.
EDIT
Based on what command line does work in your batch file you should update your "Karate Runner" extensions settings as shown below in the images.
For running tests from Codelens with "Run Karate Test(s)"
For running tests with VSCode debugger
Maybe you simply are on the wrong version. Dir you try 0.9.5 ?

Running Alteryx flows from command line

I'm trying to figure out if I can launch a pre-built Alteryx workflow without launching the Designer - and without having Alteryx Server.
I came across a helpful post on Alteryx uses by #Runonthespot that, among other things, addressed running workflows from the command line, but doesn't go into detail. That discussion is here: https://stackoverflow.com/a/30469848/4313331. I don't have the rep to comment on his post and the question is closed.
He writes:
"Flows are runnable from the commandline on a server, and easiest way I've found (besides using Alteryx's own scheduler) is to save as an "App", and then run from the command line using the Alteryx engine executable, passing it parameters via xml file. You can save a sample xml parameter file from your flow by hitting the magic wand button (after saving the flow as a .yxwz (app)) This brings up a panel that lets you set the variables, and that panel has a handy "save" button which generates an xml file in the right format."
So, I'm looking for more info on this process. Is it simply a question of using Alteryx Server? Or is this a more interesting work around?
Thanks.
Yes, you can run a workflow (used generally to refer to a workflow, macro, or analytical app) without launching the Designer. You'll first need to understand how to run the workflow from the command line. The AlteryxEngineCmd.exe executable runs a workflow. It is located in the Alteryx install path in the bin subfolder. Here is where mine is located:
C:\Program Files\Alteryx\bin
It allows an additional parameter of an XML file with interface values. This is documented for analytical apps ONLY though it does work for macros as well. This is based on my extensive use of this undocumented feature.
Below are two examples:
AlteryxEngineCmd.exe MyWorkflow.yxmd
AlteryxEngineCmd.exe MyAnalyticApp.yxwz AppValues.xml
You can see a post here:
Alteryx Command Line Help
I prefer to wrap the command in a batch file and execute that for more control.
Now that you understand how to run the workflow from the command line, you can execute it anytime you want without launching Designer. Furthermore, you can use Windows Scheduler or a third-party tool to run the command or the batch file on a schedule.
Finally, you do need a license which enables API & Command Line w/ Scheduler. This is less expensive than Alteryx Server.
Have you tried C:\Program Files\Alteryx\bin\AlteryxEngineCmd.exe? It doesn't require server.
https://help.alteryx.com/2019.1/Command_Line.htm
If restrained by budget, you don't need a scheduler license (enables the AlteryxEnginecmd.exe), you can use a windows mouse clicker or even Powershell, to run the Designer though, without manual intervention.

running an eclipse project via terminal

I've seen through the net that I should use the command java -jar, followed by the project name in order to RUN my eclipse project. Can someone please explain how does it work- where should the code which would unzip the project-be wrriten? somewhere it should be written to take the args the user write in the command line and analyze them. How does it all combine together?
Any explanation would be appriciated.
Thank you.
ok, I got the answer..
in order to run the project this way, I need to write a new project and get the arguments from the main. all functionality corresponding the task of "running from command line" would be in that main function.

Workspace is closed error

I have created a EMF model and generated a model code for that. I have created one plugin project and i have created one class named as 'CommandTest' which is having "public static void main()" method which reads mymodel resource file.
Its working fine in eclipse 3.5.2. There is no issues am able to read the contents.
But same thing am running through command prompt, am getting error "Workspace is closed". I have included my plugin folder in my classpath.
I have used one statement resource.load(null). In this line am getting "IllegalStateException: Workspace is closed".
I want to run my project in commandline not in eclipse environment. I have searched this problem in internet, i can able to find some solutions but its all related to eclipse environment.
If anything am doing wrong in this following statement
====Code Snippet======
file = "C:\temp\mytemp.xml";
// Creating resource
XMLResource resource = (XMLResource) new MyModelResourceFactoryImpl().createResource(
URI.createURI(file.toURI().toString(), true));
resource.load(null);
=======================
Is it possible to run plugin project in commandline? if it is possible could any one guide me how to achieve this to avoid "workspace is closed" error?
Did you try to specify a workspace with the -data <workspace-path> command line switch? You could try as well to call Plugin.getStateLocation().

Does Web Platform Installer support automation?

I wonder if I can automate WPI actions to setup a dev box in unattended mode, either with command line options or a configuration file. It looks like WPI takes a "URL" as a command line parameter but I have no idea what format the response should be in, and what it allows in general.
EDIT: Thanks folks for the huge effort to come up with ways to automate setups. As #fra mentioned now there is a command line tool for WPI.
WebPi Command Line was just released:
http://blogs.iis.net/satishl/archive/2011/01/26/webpi-command-line.aspx
"C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Web Platform Installer\WebPlatformInstaller.exe" /id "wpi://iisexpress&mvc3"
Will install both IIS Express and ASP.Net MVC
(using wpi version 3.0)

UPDATE:

Take a look at this awesome sauce
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg433092.aspx
One more option that was not yet mentioned is that you can also directly plug into Web PI APIs. Here are some starting points:
Web PI APIs: Download Latest Web Stack Products for Any Platform
Web PI APIs: Install a product from a custom feed
However in most of the cases, WebPICmdLine should do the job.
I'm currently investigating this, thought I'd record what I've discovered so far.
webplatforminstaller.exe <configuration file> /id <wpi url>
configuration file: xml file defining the products that can be installed. See http://www.microsoft.com/web/webpi/2.0/webproductlist.xml for an example. If this parameter is not specified, the configuration file at that url will be used.
wpi url: wpi url that specifies a product to install. The format is wpi://productid/? where productid is the id of an entry in the xml file.
I'm still trying to figure out how to force the install to happen silently. I'll update if I find out how.
The WebPICmdLine alone does not work as it will ask you to install the web platform installer 3.0 or whatever the dependecy for the product/application you will try to install.
Therefore, install the Web Platform installer first (wpilauncher.exe), then drop webpicmdline.exe to that installation folder. After that, you should be all set to use the command line tools for your installation needs.
I have yet to figure out how to do an unattend to the wpilauncher.exe itself.
