ntpdate shows offset but does not synchronize - centos

I am trying to time-synchronize 2 Centos VM with ntpdate command, but it won't work.
When running the ntpdate command (ntpdate reference.time.machine), it shows an offset : step time server 10.0.0.116 offset 156.479697 sec
But when I run the "date" command, it still shows the time with no correction.
Any idea ?
Thanks.
Sylvain.

I think I found the issue :
I edited the file /etc/sysconfig/ntpd to add the following line :
SYNC_HWCLOCK=yes
Since then, it seems to work.

How can i add a cron job run every minute to my elearning site on moodle?

I try to add a cron job on an elearning.mysite.gr(Moodle). Although my host gives this message every hour.
Oct 2 1:10:01 linux CROND[123456]: (admin) CMD (touch /tmp/test.txt > /dev/null)
On my site administration -> notifications get this message:
The admin/cli/cron.php script has not been run for 3 days 2 hours and should run every 1 min.
At moodle documentation
/path/to/moodle/admin/cli/cron.php, can i use it ? in which way ?
I tried this :
/usr/bin/php /path/to/moodle/admin/cli/cron.php
but gives me that the process completed with error at one minute
only this touch /tmp/test.txt > /dev/null
completed with success.
Moodle Documentation:
The CLI (command line interpreter) script. This will be at the path /path/to/moodle/admin/cli/cron.php
If in doubt, this is the correct script to use. This needs to be run by a 'PHP CLI' program on your computer. So the final command may look something like /usr/bin/php /path/to/moodle/admin/cli/cron.php You can (and should) try this on your command line to see if it works. WARNING: Check your command-line PHP version is compatible with your chosen version of Moodle.-How to check it?
The command-line PHP program is different to the one running your web site and is not always the same version.
I don't know what to do...I will appreciate any help!!!
I tried by my host panel interface :
Type of progress:
Command line
URL
PHP
i should choose one from 3.
Command*:
placeholder to add my command to be excecuted
Excecute:
Dropdown
1.Cron style
2.Daily at 00:00
I use command line.
touch /tmp/test.txt
When i add
cron style and 1 * * * * * , get message for syntax.
and for
daily at 00:00 success message but on my notification of my site has
The admin/cli/cron.php script has not been run for 17 days 22 hours and should run every 1 min.
That's the icon of my Plesk Login. To change the path/to/moodle/admin/cli/cron.php xould i check the file manager in order to find cron.php file ??
As you add the cron from a web interface (maybe Plesk ?) you only need this part:
/path/to/moodle/admin/cli/cron.php
replace /path/to/moodle/ with the real path on your server, usulay something like /var/www/moodle/ or /var/www/vhosts/domain.name/httpdocs/moodle
To run every 1 minute cron style is :
* * * * *
If you can choose PHP version, choose the same version as the one you are using for Moodle.
Finally, I give this touch /tmp/test.txt ->and at cron style the touch /tmp/test.txt, as you suggest to me.
Because the other commands cannot complete with success.
But in my notifications,(Site administration-Moodle) i still get the message that cron don't run.

Error in Glance_image[cirros] : change from absent to present failed: Command: ... has been running for more then 20 seconds

I am running packstack.

I am having this error, I can wget it though, so I can perfectly reach it. Can someone help me resolving this? As a workaround I tried it manually, but I am really new to centos and Openstack, so I don't know much. I tried :
openstack image create --format shell cirros --public --container-format=bare --disk-format=qcow2 --copy-from=http://download.cirros-cloud.net/0.3.4/cirros-0.3.4-x86_64-disk.img

What should I add to the above command? Will it be able to solve my problem? If not what is the right way to solve the problem?
Solved it by replacing
--copy-from=http://download.cirros-cloud.net/0.3.4/cirros-0.3.4-x86_64-disk.img to point --copy-from=<local path>
But didn't got why the original command not working even when I can wget it.

ipython notebook is not updating when I change my code

So, I ran into a weird issue using an ipython notebook and not sure what to do. Normally, when I run a part of the code, if there is an error, I would trace it back, fix it, and then re-run the code. I was doing a similar thing but even after making changes to the code, it looks like nothing is changing!
Here is the example... I am using Python 3.5 so xrange is gone. This then caused an error to be thrown:
XXXX
24 XXXX
25 XXXX
---> 26 for t in xrange(0,len(data),1):
27
28 XXXX
NameError: name 'xrange' is not defined
but after changing my code (which you can see below the difference in line 26), the same error pops up!
XXXX
24 XXXX
25 XXXX
---> 26 for t in range(0,len(data),1):
27
28 XXX
NameError: name 'xrange' is not defined
Any ideas on why this would be happening?
As Thomas K said, you're probably making a change in an external file that was not imported. There is a very useful command in ipython notebook for such cases, called autoreaload. With autoreaload, whenever you modify an external file you do not have to import it again because the extension takes care of it for you. For more information check: ipython autoreload.
Whenever using external files along with Ipython use autoreload. It will reload the external files every time before executing any code in IPython.
Add this at first cell of the IPython.
%load_ext autoreload
%autoreload 2
For me this was due to one of the following:
Cause 1: imported module not updated
Solution:
import importlib
importlib.reload(your_module)
Cause 2: other
Solution: restart the kernel, for jupyter notebook this is how
I have the same problem. I tried jupyter magic autoreload but it didn't work. Finally, I solved it in this way:
in the first cell, add
import My_Functions as my
import importlib
importlib.reload(my)
But notice if the module is imported in this way:
from My_Functions import *
I couldn't reload it properly.
I have the same issue sometimes. I think it has to do with memory - if I have a bunch of dataframes hanging around it seems to cause issues. If I restart the kernel using the Kernel > Restart option the problem goes away.
I have the same problem sometimes. I restarted the kernels but it didn't work.I try to run the cell (ctr+ enter) two or three times. then the result will be displayed according to the updated codes. I hope it helps.
insert new empty cell with + option, go to Kernel, choose Restart & Run All.
Then, fill in the new inserted cell and run again in Kernel, choose Restart & Run All.
It works with me.

matlab imread error using the executable

I have a matlab function img_process that requires the following parameters : image_name intensity and boundary, so if I run the following on my matlab console :
img_process 'pic1.png' 0.01 1
This will run the function and the image will be processed and I will get a result printed out.
Now I have compiled the script as a windows standalone app named img_process_test. I then try to run it from my command line in windows from the distrib folder like :
img_process_test 'pic1.png' 0.01 1
and it will tell me that error imread , file was not found.
I did try to place the pic1.png in the distrib and src and the img_process_test folders but still it will not work.
Any idea ?
Thank you for looking
I have fixed this. I found a good help here : http://blogs.mathworks.com/loren/2010/12/21/strings-and-numbers-as-arguments/
in case someone stumbles into this and would like to know a workaround.
