I am currently working on a web browser application using Eclipse e4.
I want to put on the toolbar a toggle button for saving my favorites url's.
I want it to be like in Google Chrome , a star which gets the yellow color when it's pressed(the link was added to favorites).
How can I do this?
Should I use for this the Application.e4xmi ?
You can use the Application.e4xmi if this is a tool bar for a Window or a Part. You would use a 'Handled Tool Item' in the tool bar.
The Application.e4xmi does not provide a way to set separate icons for the selected and normal states of a tool item so you will have to do this in the handler class. Something like:

I need to develop a functionality in IBM Content Navigator where after search for an item, right click it-> Properties, I need to either:
1 - add a button in properties dialog screen that will call a service and open another dialog;
2 - or extend the Save button functionality to also call a service and open another dialog;

Have a look # ecm.widget.dialog.EditPropertiesDialog and onSave() method. This might help you to extend save button functionality.
You can add your customized code by using aspect before/after:

Is there a way to add text next to the action icon in the toolbar of an eclipse RCP UI Form? If you do not assign the Action an ImageDescriptor, the action will be displayed containing only text. If you do give it an ImageDescriptor, it displays only the image. I want to display both side by side, within one button - is there a way to do this?
This will have only the text "Description" in the button on the toolbar:
myAction = new Action("Description", SWT.PUSH) {
#Override
public void run() {}
};
myForm.getToolBarManager().add(myAction);
But adding an image will cause the the text to be replaced:
myAction.setImageDescriptor(newImage);
I was eventually able to find an answer to my issue, hopefully it's helpful to anyone else who runs into this problem. I found this in the Eclipse Rich Client Platform (2nd Ed.) book.
The Action must be converted to an ActionContributionItem with its mode set to MODE_FORCE_TEXT. This will display both the text and the image in the toolbar.

aCI.setMode(ActionContributionItem.MODE_FORCE_TEXT);

I can not create an android app with an SDK < 14 (4.0) because all of the templates (including the so-called "Blank") include the "Action Bar", which is a 14+ feature.
How do I create an app WITHOUT an action bar? Does somebody have an old template for Blank without an Action Bar?
You can instantiate the Action Bar object and using the method hide() you will be able to hide it.
final ActionBar bar = getActionBar();
And from the documentation:
Instead of calling this function directly, you can also cause an
ActionBar using the overlay feature to hide through
View.SYSTEM_UI_FLAG_FULLSCREEN. Hiding the ActionBar through this
system UI flag allows you to more seamlessly hide it in conjunction
with other screen decorations

I wrote an rcp application in eclipse juno and I have created an application model with a trimmed window that contains a perspective stack with one perspective. This perspective contains a partsashcontainer with two part stacks. Each part stack contains one part.
If I run the application each part has a minimize button which I want to disable. How do I do that ?
You can hide the minimize buttons of the MPartStacks by adding a style attribute to the .MPartStack selector in your .css file:

I am facing some problem.. I want to hide the menu when eclipse workbench starts.
But the problem is menu is not hiding when the eclipse workbench starts. It is hiding only
when some refresh is happened. for example: when I change the default perspective to some other perspective, I am getting the desired out put. That means menu is hiding.

Given that you are looking to hide some features, I don't think that this is the best approach. (Not I am using the term feature here in the colloquial way, not as an Eclipse feature.
I would recommend one of two avenues:
Perspectives: See the extension point org.eclipse.ui.perspectives. This allows you to create a new perspective like the debug perspective or the Java perspective. Using a perspective, you can select exactly what menu items and views are shown and which ones are hidden.
Capabilities (aka activites): See the extension point org.eclipse.ui.activities. This allows you to have some fairly fine-grained control over what features are available in the workspace. See more info here: http://wiki.eclipse.org/Galileo_Capabilities
