I'm using Android Studio 2.3.3 and I need to test my app on an emulator without Google Play Services. I know that it was pretty easy to create one using the old device manager (as described in this question), but I can't figure out how to do it with the new one.
The SDK Manager tells me that the system images that I want/need (API level 25) are installed:
Android Wear Intel x86 Atom System Image
Google APIs Intel x86 Atom System Image
At the "Select a system image" step for my new virtual device, only images with the Google APIs are presented under the "Recommended" tab. I've checked "x86 Images" and "Other Images" but no options without Google Play Services are to be found anywhere. I've also looked through all the settings options available at the "Verify Configuration" step without finding anything useful.
Does anyone know how to do this, or is it perhaps in fact no longer possible?

I run "ionic cordova run android" using visual studio code.. but the apps shows white screen in the emulator.. it display properly if using USB debugging.. the device also display properly if install using the apk.. the reason why I want to use emulator because I want to debug "http://10.0.2.2".. this is my emulator setting..

Choose ANGLE (D3D11) for OpenGL ES Renderer at the emulator advance setting
Choose Software - GLES 2.0 graphic for the Emulated Performance during create emulator
Try both R and Q for the system image during create the virtual device

I compile the source code at different laptop (Laptop A) and it manage to display error at the web console using google inspect
it display "newtrustedfunctionforjit fn.bind is not a function"..

the issue is related to the chrome version 83 and the browser need an upgrade to solve the issue
The emulator is not using a browser (it using web view) hence I cannot update the google version

I am unable to run the emulator in android studio. I received a "Your cpu does not support required features (VT-x or SVM)" message. Someone told me to try and do what this link states "http://www.howtogeek.com/213795/how-to-enable-intel-vt-x-in-your-computers-bios-or-uefi-firmware/" which led me to a video and I tried following those directions but was unable to because first, there was no HyperV feature in the Windows features section. Second, there was no UEFI Firmware settings icon when I went to advanced settings in set up. How can I proceed from here to enable the VT-x in order for me to be able to use the emulator in Android studios? Thank you so much!!
Okay your cpu does not support is not the same as cannot use emulator you just have to use one that runs x86 images which is in fact GenyMotion...

Hello I'm creating an Android project using Eclipse the emulator is very slow I tried using the emulator through my phone but it still wont work I have a Kyocera Event and android 4.0

Try to use HAXM if you have an Intel processor and a different image of the system rather than ARM. I had similar problem with debugging using my tablet, I would highly recommend HAXM.
Did you enable USB Debugging in your phone settings? And check SDK Manager - Extra - Google USB Driver
I have been using real devices to test my apps, and if you dont know, your device might not be recognized by your IDE even though it is picked up by your computer. The solution, first, click http://developer.android.com/tools/extras/oem-usb.html
scroll down to the bottom, locate the manufaturer of your phone and download the appropriate driver for your device, install it, then, you need to open the "SDK Manager" to download the system images for the platforms you want to test against, you might need to download the "Google USB Driver" in the "Extras" section in "SDK Manager". Or if you want an emulator that is as fast as a real device, consider "Geny Motion", pretty easy to install. You can search for "Geny Motion" through google, shoule be able to see it the first result. Hope this helps.
I'm just getting started on Samsung Smart TV development, and so far my first baby step has been a big failure.
I am running Linux, and because I already have Eclipse installed and configured for Android development, I haven't had success in getting the Smart TV SDK installed and working. However, encouraged by How to build & deploy a Samsung SmartTV app without the IDE (e.g: on Linux), I have decided to go forward without it.
I do have the VirtualBox emulator running, however. So right now, I have built a basic app from the example here:

And would like to see if I can just get it to start up on my emulator.
If I understand correctly, I need to take the directory structure of my app (with config.xml, index.html, and the Resources, JavaScript and CSS folders), package it into a .zip, and drop it in the "Apps" folder I have shared with the emulator. But when I do that, if I go to the emulator, refresh it, and hit "Open App", I am presented with an empty App list.
I know that the emulator is seeing the Apps folder, because if I put a subdirectory in it, then that directory shows in the Apps list in the emulator. But it's not showing the .zip file for my app.
I have been scouring the web for any useful information, but all tutorials just say something along the lines of "now test the app in your emulator to make sure it works. Now on to deployment...". Nobody gives any information on how to test the app in the emulator.
Can someone please shine some light on this for me?

I have been trying to run the Emulator (Android 2.2 - Level 8) with Google APIs level 9 to test my License Checker implementation to no avail. This is as recommended at: http://developer.android.com/guide/publishing/licensing.html#test-env
It runs fine on the device, but not on the emulator.
On my AVD emulator, I don't have the Market installed. So I am not sure if the documentation is wrong because the architecture does show the dependency on the Market.
Has anyone had any luck running the LVL code on the emulator?

Sounds like you are trying to run Emulator with a target of "Android 2.2 - API Level 8". In order to get the LicenseChecker to run, the target for your Virtual Device needs to actually be "Google APIs (Google Inc.) - API Level 8". This will still open up the emulator for 2.2, but will have the Google APIs ready to use.
From the Licensing page:
To set up an emulator for adding licensing to an application, follow these steps:
Launch the Android SDK and AVD Manager.
In the Available Packages panel, select and download the SDK component "Google APIs (Google Inc.) - API Level 8" (or higher) from the SDK repository, as shown in the figure above.
When the download is complete, use the Android SDK and AVD Manager to create a new AVD based on that component, described next.
In the Virtual Devices panel of the Android SDK and AVD Manager, click New and set the configuration details for the new AVD.
In the dialog that appears, assign a descriptive name to the AVD and then use the "Target" menu to choose the "Google APIs (Google Inc.) - API Level 8" as the system image to run on the new AVD. Set the other configuration details as needed and then click Create AVD to finish. The SDK tools create the new AVD configuration, which then appears in the list of available Android Virtual Devices.
