I just upgraded AEM from version 6.2 to Version 6.3. I see a folder called archived-versions created under crx-quickstart. Is it safe to delete the contents inside that folder?
I found a reference to archived-versions in an older upgrade documentation.
Note that your existing crx-quickstart/bin/ will be archived below crx-quickstart/archived-versions/. The precise path is given in the output of the above java -jar command. If you have customized any of the scripts in this directory, you can find those changed files in the archive.
https://docs.adobe.com/content/docs/en/cq/5-6-1/deploying/upgrading.html
From what I can tell it's safe to delete unless you've made modifications to start up scripts you may wish to keep.
Maybe moving all the content to a new AEM 6.3 instance instead of upgrading it is a better solution. This is usually what Adobe does with its AMS service.

Back then, I was able to download older subversions of TYPO3 CMS on SourceForge which saved me a lot of time and anger.
Now I am facing a problem and I think it is a bug in the current used version. I would like to test it with an other instance, but as it seems it is not being stored anywhere. I will use an vulnerable version for now, but that is not what I actually want.
Maybe I've overseen a link or something. Do you know where I could find a list of all downloadable TYPO3 Versions? I know I can google it, but I don't want to use 3rd party sources ether...
I'd say that TYPO3 on SourceForge should still be updated...
All versions can be downloaded from get.typo3.org directly. Example for a very old 4.5:
wget --content-disposition https://get.typo3.org/4.5.38
You can use https://get.typo3.org/ for this. Simply append the version number to the URL to download the desired version, e.g. https://get.typo3.org/8.7.15 to download version 8.7.15 of TYPO3 (8.7.16 is the latest ATM.)
If you use Composer you can enforce a downgrade with something like this:
composer require typo3/cms 8.7.15
Or:
composer require typo3/cms-core:8.7.15 typo3/cms-backend:8.7.15 ...
Notice that this replaces the version constraint in your Composer manifest with a fixed version which should be changed back as soon as possible.
i'm having some issues getting modules to work on my app - I keep on getting told that the requested module cannot be found.
It is entirely possible that i'm not installing the modules correctly - so, for the purposes of this question:
Once i've downloaded the zip file from git hub using the green "download" button, what do i do to import the module into my project? Not how do i tell tiapp.xml to use the module - just what do i do to install it?
Can you please run through using the facebook module found at https://github.com/appcelerator-modules/ti.facebook
thanks!
Inside the zip file of the download you'll see there is a folder called modules. This is the same folder that is in your root of the project.
So, an iOS module should be installed in the /modules/iphone folder. Once added, you can add Facebook to your app like this:
<module platform="iphone">facebook</module>
If you want to specify a version you can do so like this:
<module platform="iphone" version="1.1.0>facebook</module>
note: I made up the version number
You can also add it through the tiapp editor in Appcelerator studio, although it doesn't always seem to find the module. This might be a bug in studio though, usually it works great.
HMMMM
Two main issues here, one directly relating, the other less so.
Issue 1
The link i gave to get the codebase from github is wrong - well, it gets the codebase, but not in a form that can be used as a module. It is, in fact, the uncompiled version.
Versions for download can be found here.
So that takes care of issue one, what about
Issue 2
The latest version for use is a bit broken. Seems someone (from the appcelerator team???) decided to make the latest 6.0.1 release have a minsdk of the (at this time) as-yet-unreleased version 6.0.0, and sets the apiversion to 3.
This breaks the current release of 5.5.1, so for anyone reading this prior to 6.0.0 for appcelerator, you will want to use this release version.
I want to create an upgrade setup. I have an old setup with for example version 1.0.1.43 and my new setup will has version of 1.0.1.45
I have created a new basic MSI project in installshield. I set version to 1.0.1.45 I copied both product code and upgrade code of old setup into upgrade setup. I also added all of new files in setup that should be replaced with files of old setup. I selected all files and then right clicked on them and in properties checked always overwrite option. then in Media section I added a major upgrade with upgrade code of my old setup. then I build the setup.
when I run this setup it shows me that you have installed this application do you want to upgrade it or not? then I choose yes to upgrade. after installing this setup I figured it out that in add/or remove programs version of my application has changed to 1.0.1.45, that means it has been upgraded. but when I check files I see that none of new files has been replaced with new one.
Where am I wrong that this setup ignore all of my new files to replace? I want this setup find old path of old setup and after removing all files, add new files to that path?
thanks
As you are saying, you have created new MSI installer for upgrade. So in this case the component ID of components in which your files are present, got change. So you need to set values of Component ID with the component IDs of your installer 1.0.1.45. Or you need to create different components with the same target path.
Also you can validate your upgrade build 1.0.1.46 with the main build 1.0.1.45 with following steps.
Build Menu -> Validate -> Upgrade Validation Wizard
Then give path of your main installer (msi/exe) and your upgrade installer (msi/exe). And check what differences both builds are having.
Whenever we clone a site on a development machine, the PackageStates.php will be rewritten shortly after and the order of entries will be all over the place, resulting in tons of changes, even though nothing has actually changed logically.
This brings up the question, should the file actually be under version control?
We experimented with ignoring it, but then, when deploying on a new machine, the site will not know which extensions to load. Which suggests to me that it shouldn't be excluded from version control. But then how should the information, which extensions to load, be transferred?
You can include the PackageStates.php to your version control.
You also can exclude it from versioning and generate it automatically during deployment process. typo3-console has a command for this:
typo3cms install:generatepackagestates
In older TYPO3 versions < 9 LTS, you have the option to install extensions based on conditions like context, host, system you can use
$GLOBALS['TYPO3_CONF_VARS']['EXT']['runtimeActivatedPackages'] = array('extension_builder','devlog');
in your AdditionalConfiguration.php.
Article about this topic at typo3blogger.de
If you have a TYPO3 composer installation, PackageStates.php is automatically generated when running "composer install":
https://docs.typo3.org/p/helhum/typo3-console/6.5/en-us/CommandReference/InstallGeneratepackagestates.html
Generates and writes typo3conf/PackageStates.php file. Goal is to not have this file in version control, but generate it on composer install.
I'm strugging to get started with the BaseX RESTXQ API.
I've downloaded and installed the latest version of BaseX for Windows. I have started the BaseX Server by clicking the "BaseX Server (Start)" icon that the BaseX installation adds to the Windows Start menu.
It appears that I need to create a file with an .xqm extension (eg. hello.xqm) and put it somewhere.
Do you have a minimal "hello world" type example file eg. hello.xqm to get me started?
Where should I put the hello.xqm file so it runs on my default installation of BaseX?
Where do I need to point my browser to and what should I see if it works?
Thanks.
We noticed that the web files in Version 7.3 of the Windows version of BaseX were accidentally moved to the bin directory. You'll find a pre-packaged RESTXQ module in the latest (stable) snapshot of BaseX:
http://files.basex.org/releases/latest/
You may also have a look into the BaseX RESTXQ documentation:
http://docs.basex.org/wiki/RESTXQ
I found really nice slide for creating web application with restxq in BaseX. please see on this paper:

also here is very good example
