Get the current page url inside a hook for contao - tags

I am using the parseArticle hook for news module for my contao instance. I need to get the current page url inside this parseArticle hook. I had checked with the insert tags "{{env::url}}". But it's not working. It is simply displaying this text. Is there any way to use insert tags inside our hook?
If no, what should be done to get the page url inside that hook for contao?

You can retrieve the current URL via \Environment::get('uri'). This also includes the query string.
In general you can also "use insert tags" this way: \Controller::replaceInsertTags('{{…}}'), but this should never be necessary.
If you want the url to the reader page (without the news item in the URL), you can use
global $objPage
$strRelativeUrl = $objPage->getFrontendUrl();
$strAbsoluteUrl = $objPage->getAbsoluteUrl();
Both of these function can take parameters to add to the URL. See PageModel.php#L1013 for example.

Or use
\Environment::get('url');

How to chain requests using Insomnia (get token from login api to use as header for other api)

I'm trying to update the header for my apis with a sif token that is retrieved from another login call. I know how to do this in Postman. There I go to the Tests tab and add something like this for the login api, which would set my global variable.
var data = JSON.parse(responseBody);
postman.setGlobalVariable("SIF_TEACHER", data.sifToken);
I've read this tutorial from the Insomnia official support page but can't really understand it and couldn't find any other doc on chaining requests there.
Thank you.
In your workspace press CTRL+E to open "Manage Environments" window
Add a variable like "token" to the environment
Put a response function (teal f) as value of this variable by pressing CTRL+SPACE.
Select one to your liking from the dropdown, in your case "Response => Body Attribute" should work well.
This will open a "Tag" form, like this one:
Select your login request and filter the response json or xml for the value containing your token value, f.e. $.access_token. Probably set trigger behaviour to "When Expired" too.
You can now access this variable anywhere in your workspace for other requests by pressing CTRL+SPACE in any form field and selecting the variable (purple x).
If you only need this for one request, you can skip setting up the environment variable for this and directly put the function where you need it, same way as described before.
You can check the link, in the comments there is a mini clip with the indications
https://github.com/Kong/insomnia/issues/2744
There is a plugin that allows you to have variables which you can set its value from different request an use them in others. This is great for when you want to chain requests but you have multiple possible parents and don't want to duplicate the child request, for example you could have "Login with A" and "Login with B" and both save to id, then you can have a "Get info" with the id.
Setting a variable is done using an special tag in the header of the request ("Save variable") and then use its value wherever you want with the "Variable" tag.
You can see more about the plugin in https://insomnia.rest/plugins/insomnia-plugin-save-variables .

TYPO3 backend deeplink to page record

I am using version 8.7 of TYPO3 and intended to use a link that leads directly to the backend to edit a record (page). I tried anything like typo3/backend.php?edit=57 but got a error:
file not found
typo3/backend.php?edit=57 was the way to do it up until TYPO3 6.2, but the backend URL changed to typo3/index.php in TYPO3 7.6. It still works kind of, however you need a security token which is generated by the core. The URL now is typo3/index.php?route=%2Fmain&edit=57&token=.... There isn't really an easy way to generate URL with a valid token like that from outside TYPO3 though.
If you want to create a link inside a custom module to edit a record you can use \TYPO3\CMS\Backend\Utility\BackendUtility::editOnClick() or if you're using a Fluid template, the \TYPO3\CMS\Backend\ViewHelpers\Link\EditRecordViewHelper ViewHelper. More on that you can find here: https://docs.typo3.org/typo3cms/CoreApiReference/8.7/ApiOverview/Examples/EditLinks/
Using the extension pxa_siteimprove deep links are of the following form:
https://example.com/typo3/index.php?tx_siteimprove_goto=page:{page_uid}:{language_uid}
The parameter language_uid is optional. An example link to a page with uid 42 looks like this:
https://example.com/typo3/index.php?tx_siteimprove_goto=page:42
Optionally we can include a language uid (e.g. 1). Without a language uid set it defaults to 0:
https://example.com/typo3/index.php?tx_siteimprove_goto=page:42:1
If you want to create deep links for other purposes, you can look how this extension creates the deep link in Pixelant\PxaSiteimprove\Hooks\DeepLinkingHandler. In a first hook it just saves the page uid to the backend user session and in a later hook reuses this information to redirect to the desired page by setting the following global variable:
$GLOBALS['BE_USER']->uc['startModuleOnFirstLogin'] = 'web_layout->id=' . (int)$pageId . '&SET[language]=' . (int)$languageId;

Google Search autocomplete API?

Does Google provide API access to autocomplete for search like on the actual site? I have not been able to find anything.
I would like to use Google's autocomplete logic for web search on my own site which relies on Google's search API.
The new url is:
http://suggestqueries.google.com/complete/search?client=firefox&q=YOURQUERY
the client part is required; I did't test other clients.
[EDIT]
If you want the callback use this:
http://suggestqueries.google.com/complete/search?client=chrome&q=YOURQUERY&callback=callback
As #Quandary found out; the callback does not work with client "firefox".
[EDIT2]
As indicated by # user2067021 this api will stop working as of 10-08-2015: Update on the Autocomplete API
First, go to google, click Settings (bottom right corner), change Search Settings to "never show instant results. That way, you'll get regular autocomplete instead of a full page of instant results.
After your settings are saved, go back to the Google main home page. Open your browser's developer tools and go to the Network tab. If you're in Firefox, you might have to reload the page.
Type a letter in the search box. A new line should appear in the Network window you just opened. That line is showing where the autocomplete data came from. Copy that url. It should look something like this:
https://www.google.com/complete/search?client=hp&hl=en&sugexp=msedr&gs_rn=62&gs_ri=hp&cp=1&gs_id=9c&q=a&xhr=t&callback=hello
You'll notice your search term right after the part that says q=.
Add &callback=myAmazingFunction to the end of the url. You may replace myAmazingFunction with whatever you want to name your function that will handle the data.
Here's an example of the code required to show the autocomplete data for the search term "a".
<div id="output"></div>
<script>
/* this function shows the raw data */
function myAmazingFunction(data){
document.getElementById('output').innerHTML = data;
}
</script>
<script src="https://www.google.com/complete/search?client=hp&hl=en&sugexp=msedr&gs_rn=62&gs_ri=hp&cp=1&gs_id=9c&q=a&xhr=t&callback=hello&callback=myAmazingFunction"></script>
Now that you know how to get the data, the next step is to automatically change that last script (the one with the autocomplete url). The basic procedure is: each time the user types something in the search box (onkeyup) replace the search term (q=whatever) in the url, and then append to the body a script with that url. Remove the previous script so that the body doesn't get cluttered.
For more info, see http://simplestepscode.com/autocomplete-data-tutorial/
Most of the above mentioned methods works for me, specifically the following serves my purpose.
http://suggestqueries.google.com/complete/search?client=firefox&q=YOURQUERY
Being a newbie in web programming, I'm not much aware of the "Callback" functionality and the format of the file returned by query. I'm little aware of AJAX and JSON.
Could someone provide more details about the format of file returned by the query.
Thanks.
Hi I don't know if this answer is relevant for you anymore or not but google returns JSON data through following get request (although this isn't an official API but many toolbars are using this API so there's no reason why google might discontinue it):
http://google.com/complete/search?q=<Your keywords here>&hl=en
You should use AutocompleteService and pass that text box value into the service.getPlacePredictions function. It send the data in callback function.
let service = new google.maps.places.AutocompleteService();
let displaySuggestions = function(predictions, status) {
}
service.getPlacePredictions({
input: value
}, displaySuggestions);
Base: https://developers.google.com/maps/documentation/javascript/reference/places-autocomplete-service#AutocompleteService.getPlacePredictions
example: https://dzone.com/articles/implement-and-optimize-autocomplete-with-google-pl
I'm using (( Edrra.com )) API that have google search and suggestions that works with both GET & POST:
Google suggestions:
https://edrra.com/v1/api.php?c=google&f=suggest&k=YOUR_API_KEY&v=YOUR_SEARCH
Google search:
https://edrra.com/v1/api.php?c=google&f=search&k=YOUR_API_KEY&v=YOUR_SEARCH
and more...
What are you trying to use an auto-complete for? More information would help narrow it down.
As far as I know, google does not provide one, but they do exist like jQuery UI's auto-complete.
EDIT:
If you are using their custom search API view here for autocomplete.

Get displaytag to use an action URL for page switching

I'm trying to use external paging in a JSR-286 portlet with DisplayTag 1.2.
I would like DisplayTag to generate the paging links from a parameterized Action URL that i have defined, but i can't seem to make that work.
Here is the code in my JSP:
<portlet:actionURL var=actionUrl >
<portlet:param name="someParam" value="someValue" >
</portlet:actionURL >
<display-el:table id="personsTable"
name="${portletSessionScope.persons}"
requestURI="${actionUrl}"
partialList="true"
size="${portletSessionScope.total}"
pagesize="${portletSessionScope.pageSize}" >
<display-el:column property="firstName"/ >
</display-el:table >
With the above code, it looks like Display-tag ignores the provided ${actionUrl} and generates a default Render URL. The generated links work fine (i can move through pages), but since my portlet requires an Action request to fetch other pages of data, the list in the session is never updated and the table always contains the same data, regardless of which page i select.
Is there a way i might make that work? Does DisplayTag support what i'm trying to do?
Thanks in advance for your help!
Create a form in your JSP and pass the form name to the displaytag:table as form attribute value. This will invoke the action URL that you have specified.

MVC 2.0 Post Form to action instead of redirect to action

I am using T4MVC to redirect to another action return RedirectToAction(MVC.MyController.MyAction());.
In result it is doing get request.
Is there any way to make post request from controller. I want to keep all the same but only make post instead get. I cant find any methods for that. I found one post helper here http://geekswithblogs.net/rakker/archive/2006/04/21/76044.aspx but i cant pass any values i need using this post helper. I was trying to pass values through TempData but they are not coming when i using this helper. May be some one have any ideas?
The reason i want to do this because when user come from one controller to another and then if user click update or just click enter in browser address bar, page will break.
Should i use session for that reason?
A RedirectToAction will always perform a GET, never a POST (it returns a HTTP 302 to the browser, which will then issue a GET request).
To persist data across the redirect, if it is data that can be easily represented as a string and stored in the query string, then you can just add it to the route values of the redirect.
e.g.
return RedirectToAction("Search", new { searchString = "whatever" });
If it is a complex type, then you will need to store it in TempData. A number of other questions on StackOverflow (such as this one) give details on how.
If repeatedly storing to and reading from TempData across your application offends your code-sense, then you can encapsulate this by using the PassParametersDuringRedirect attribute and generic RedirectToAction available in the MvcContrib project. Some details on this technique are available here.
only way of doing post is by having a form and doing submit on that form, either with a submit button or with javascript, any info you want passed to that action must be in that form and you will find everything posted in FormCollection(hope I spelled it right).
