I'm trying to make users follow a certain Sharepoint Online site by using Powershell but I don't know where the follow property is stored.
I can fetch users and sites using both Connect-PnPOnline and Connect-SPOService. Now how do I use this to make certain users follow a certain site?
Thanks!
This is unfortunately not possible in SharePoint online because the APIs(CSOM,REST,JSOM,PowerShell) needed to make it work are not exposed/available. This is possible in SharePoint On-Premise though(using SSOM), but that's not useful for your issue.
So, only using the user's account can you follow a site in SharePoint online.
Reference (check table - API for common tasks for following content in SharePoint) - Follow content in SharePoint
A semi automatic version is availible here: https://gist.github.com/magnusdanielson/9ed8d8db2e041552eb6f3f32bafd0e30
It requires the user to navigate once to the site. You could argue that the user should be able to click the "follow" button, but even that is to much for some :)

I'm new to the whole Microsoft Office 365 ecosystem, and I'm working on a new project. There I need to get personal information and documents from people outside my organization and fill Sharepoint list with them. The problem is that in Microsoft Forms you cannot upload a file if you are not already in the organisation and other form apps (f.e. Google Forms) don't have integration with Sharepoint. I have tried to do write a webhook for google forms, but it stores documents in Google Drive which I don't want.
If you know how I can solve this issue, your help will be very much appreciated.
Is there any way to check whether the SharePoint site is on SharePoint Online (or On premises).
Can we do that using URL?
I need to write a PowerShell script to check is the site is on SO, but no idea what condition to check.
Found this article https://sergeluca.wordpress.com/2013/01/13/can-can-you-check-the-version-of-a-sharepoint-online-or-how-can-you-know-that-your-sharepoint-online-moved-to-2013/ but not much of help.
thanks

You should find that the office 365 links should have a hostname ending in sharepoint.com.
I'd like to deploy a Office 365/Exchange Online management portal in the WAWS(Windows Azure WebSite) which could create new user/group/mailbox or change some property of specific user, etc. Is it possible to deploy this kind of web application in the WAWS environment? Should I call PowerShell and Office365 cmdlet in the ASP.NET environment? Or there are any better way to do this?
As the #Matt alludes to in his comment, there is already a web-based management portal for both of these. However, since you ask this question, I'm going to assume that you want additional functionality/customization.
The short answer is yes, you can.
User accounts in Office 365 are, behind the scenes, accounts in Azure Active Directory. So, for creating users, contacts, security groups and adding licenses, you will need to use the Azure Active Directory Graph API:
Getting Started With Windows Azure Active Directory Graph
For managing Exchange Online, you will probably want to use the Exchange Web Services Managed API 2.0. You'll probably only need this if you need to create distribution groups or manage individual users' contact folders (mailboxes for users get created when you assign an Exchange license from Azure Active Directory).
Get started with EWS Managed API client applications
Update: the Office 365 APIs were recently announced, and are now in Preview. They are a RESTful API, which can be used to manage (for now), mail, contacts and calendar items. Depending on your use case, this may be easier to deal with than the EWS Managed API 2.0.
Using the Mail, Calendar, and Contact REST APIs to work with emails, calendar items, and contacts
I'm able to setup sugarcrm to my local machine. Also I've a bit of knowledge of studio. Now I've got a requirement like login to sugarcrm using google account. If user want to login to sugar he/she'll have to use his/her google credential. If the credential is correct and the email id matches with the email id for a user in user module, the he'll be able to login to sugar.
I'm pretty new to sugar so please provide help. Please write if the problem description is not clear to you.
Thanks
It sounds like your goal is to enable Google Authentication within SugarCRM, which would mean a rewrite of the entire login page and process. I think that's beyond the scope of a SO post, but I think you'd start here: https://code.google.com/p/google-authenticator/
SugarCRM does come equipped with the Zend Library, including a lot of classes for working with Google APIs, so that's a plus.
A simpler answer, if it meets requirements, is to set the Users' user_names to their google email addresses, either #gmail.com or #googleappdomain.com, whatever. The draw back here is that the accounts aren't actually linked with Google, so passwords won't stay in sync.
I've been thinking about an online idea for about 3-4 years now and can't get it out of my head so I've decided to act upon it and see if I can get it working. Currently working a POC and design layout which I plan to tender for development.
The main part of the portal and most important component involves user sub-sites. I am unsure how to tackle the process for a user to create a sub-site during the registration process and/or what path to take.
Let's say the main site is www.abc.net - the user would then register a sub-site based on the credentials they input. E.g. user1.abc.net, mysite.abc.net or joeblog.abc.net... whatever they want and so forth. No SEO required - The site templates are fairly basic and the sub-sites will be accessible through the main site. So the process to be:
User logs onto main site and registers
During registration, user enters details including sub-site name they want
Select the template they want - basically different colour schemes. Functionality to be the same for all templates
their site is created
when the user is logged on they get directed to their sub-site
Ability to edit their sub-site - add content and add extra pages, change details…. etc
General users (registered or anonymous) would be able to browse and search content to the sub-sites via the main site.
Each sub-site to be independent from each other - no content sharing. Basically they are separate websites hosted as sub-sites but need they need some type of editing available like a CMS. Not sure if a shared CMS is possible but the owner has to be able to modify content to their own sub-site.
So my question are…
Do I try and use a Drupal/Wordpress/Joomla CMS with multisite functionality?
Do I try a solution where I have a collection of simple sites that I use for sub-sites, each to have their own database and some type of CMS or WYSIWYG for editing? Is separate CMS even possible for each Sub-site?
Any input would be greatly appreciated.
As far as I know this would not be possible as the CMS would not have access to your server where the sub-domain is created.
It would be possible to offer something similer using Joomla as it offers the option to apply custom styles (templates) to different pages. You would however have to adopt the following URL convention www.yourdomain.com/userselectedtext.
You can then have a page where users register with your site and the cms creates their page.
User permissions in joomla can be set so only the owner of a particular page can view or edit it.
You can check out this source: http://www.drupalgardens.com/. Google what platform is it based on. Maybe you'll find some information. Read also about this extension: http://www.joomplace.com/administration-extensions/multisitescontrol.html. It's for Joomla sites. I used this component for multisites content management. Maybe it will help you too.
